Have just started my (long overdue) battle with the Halifax, by sending off the DPA letter.

 

i just used the template that was given on this very helpful forum.

 

I was told about this a few months ago by a friend, and after doing a hell of alot of reading throughout yesterday, I have decided to go for it.

 

as it seems commen place to start this type of thread I will keep my process updated on here, so that anyone else owwing and arring over if they should go for it, will be able to see how I get on.

Would I be right in thinking that as I e-mailed the DPA into them, the automated responce I got is a sign of receipt, so the 40 days start from now.

 

i just re-read the FAQ and what not (and I know I missed it) but I dont see that mentioned, or do I have to wait for a written (e-mail / letter etc..) responce ?

Take it as a receipt. The 40 days starts from the day received your request or if they ask for the day they receive £10 fee

Still waiting on this, still had no reply what so ever from them.

 

I am tempted to file a reminder with them, I may do that in the next few days.

Advice would be great.

 

 

Got half my statments, I should have had them dating back to MArch / April 2000

 

However I only got them dating back to 2004 (although i did get a letter saying they have been sent dating back to 2000)

 

 

Advice on what to do, have they not complyed to the DPA letter, or should I give them the benifit of the doubt.

 

They spent pretty much the whole 40 days to send the things out.

They have not fulfilled your reqeust.

 

What i would do if i was in your situation, would be to give them a quick call, explain the problem, remind them that they haven't complied with your request, and inform them they have 48 hours to complete your request, otherwise you will raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner......but then again, you could just go ahead and raise the complaint ........depends on how much aggro you want to cause....

 

You should find that they will bend over backwards to get it sorted....then again ....maybe not

Knowing halifax I would guess for the "Maybe not" option.
