Hi people,

Not sure if I`m in the right forum for this, but I thought I`d try it.

For the last couple months, on and off we have been getting calls from this number 0800422095. A Google Search pointed to a page on CAG, in the PPI forums. I beleive it to be from Capital One. Tonight they rang twice, with a 10 minute interval.

Now, we don`t have and never have had any dealings with Capital One.

We don`t answer unknown numbers, just numbers stored in our phone.

I was wondering, does anyone have their address? I want to send the Telephone Harassment Letter to these twats.

Hope someone can help.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

Hi Alan,

Thanks for that, that looks like it`s right to the top level.

I`ll have to start it with a `Dear morons`, LOL.

They just rang AGAIN about 5-10 mins ago, I picked up to tell them where to go but the line went dead. Must be one of the dialler systems, that have more outgoing calls than special agents to take the call when you answer. That`s even more annoying than some bum hole on the other end.

Thanks again.

Regards

Hi again,

Just a thought, if I send a letter I`ll have to put our address on so they know where it`s from won`t I?

Will they already have our address? I don`t think we`ve had any mail from them.

Any idea`s about this?

Regards

If you have never had any dealings with Capital One, then I would be inclined to accept the call and see what it is about.

I had a call last week from another company chasing someone who used to live at this address. As soon as they established that the person no longer lived here they deleted the number from their database and agreed they would not make any further calls.

Hi Alan,

Well, we`ve had a few more of these calls in the last couple of days and have just had another today 15 mins ago, at 13.10.

I have been answering but everytime I do, the line goes dead. Think I`ll get the CSI team on this one.

The number is the same, so we know it`s Crapital One.

The letter is going in the post in the morning.

Does anyone have anything else they`d like to add to it? It`s just the standard one. I`ll put anyhing down, I`m not bothered about upsetting these mofo`s.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Regards

I had the exact same situation, but it turned out to be Swinton Insurance, who I have never used. I was getting calls 2 or 3 times a day and it was dead when I answered. So I phoned the number during the day and a message gave me a number to call to remove my number from their dialler.

Pete.

Hi again odds,

Thanks for the post mate, how you doing?

Mmmm, I`ll ask the otherhalf to try that one tomorrow, although she doesn`t like talking to these fools.

I`ll see what she says and if she won`t I`ll just send them the letter.

Thanks again.

Another update people.

Right, the other half sent the letter to the Executive Office this morning. It was titled Dear Morons, of course.

We have had another two silent calls today, and another call at 7.36pm.

I answered the later call and a Indian / Pakistani woman was there, straight away she asked for my gf. I said what the hell do you want, I`ve had about 10 calls a day from you morons, what the **** do you want?

She said she couldn`t speak to me as it was private, I said nothing in this world is private, what the **** do you want. Delete my number from your systems NOW! At that point she said I have no go now, then hung up.

The letter was sent Recorded Delivery, so we`ll see if it get signed for. I doubt it, because Royal Mail offer a very unique service where they take your money but never get anything signed. Cool eh?

dropping to their level solves nothing

i trust that you are making a note of ALL the calls and the times they come through and the number calling?

if youre not then nows the time to start

i find it most therapeutic to answer the call politely and when they start the can we just ask some security questions , can you confirm your name i say can you confirm yours? then when they say can you confirm your address i say can you confirm yours

when they ask why i say well would you give personal details over the phone to a stranger?

they generally give up after a while

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the post.

I find dropping to their level therapeutic, LOL.

Yeah, we are have been logging all the calls from the last few days, and sent the Telephone Harrassement letter this morning. So we`ll see what happens.

The fools will probably ring back saying who ya calling morons? LOL

Hi again people (I`m busy tonight),

We had another call a few nights ago, it was a guy this time, he stayed on the phone for over 30 mins, asking for my girlfriend.

When I asked what they wanted, he just kept asking what they wanted, then they asked if she was here, I never said yes or no. I just kept asking what they wanted. When I got bored after all that time I eventually said `whatever it is, everything in writing moron, now f & £ k off!`.

I can also confirm the following letter was signed for on 29.1.2008 to their Executive Office.

So far, we have had no more calls since then, I beleive that last call was also on the 29.1.2008, so we`ll see what happens next.

Re: Harassment By Telephone

Administration Of Justice Act 1970

Protection From Harassment Act 1997, Communications Act (2003)

Dear Morons,

TELEPHONE NUMBER: Mine

I am writing in relation to the quantity and frequency of telephone calls that we have received from your company which I deem to be personally harassing, particularly the `silent calls` generated from your predictive dialing system.

I have verbally requested that these stop on a number of occasions, yet we are still receiving calls. These calls have been received up to 8.30 at night and also on Sundays.

I now require all further correspondence from your company to be made in WRITING ONLY!.

I am of the view that your continued harassment of me by telephone puts you in breach of Section 40 of the Administration of Justice Act 1970, and the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.

If you continue to harass me by telephone, you will also be in breach of the Communications Act (2003) s.127-130 and I will report you to OFCOM, Trading Standards and The Office of Fair Trading, meaning that you will be liable to a substantial fine.

In short, remove ALL my details from your systems IMMEDIATELY! Please confirm in writing of your compliance.

Be advised that any further telephone calls from your company will be logged and recorded and used as evidence in any harassment action taken against you.

Yours faithfully,

ME!

Right, I think that`s all my updates done tonight.

Regards

I get a lot of cold calls on my mobile asking if I want a consolidation loan, I usually ask them to hold on then place the phone in the other room for 10 mins or so untill they get the hint and hang up. I just like to think that every minute they are sat waiting for me its costing them money and stops them annoying someone else. I have only once returned to find some poor determined chap still saying 'hello sir are you there? after 10 minutes.

Hi tomterm and green and mean,

Thanks for the posts.

We used to use the Choose To Refuse when we had our phone service through BT. We now use Tiscali, but they don`t have a similar service.
