Hi I booked a holliday with freedom Direct on 1st December to take my mum away for Christmas and new year. The holiday I phoned for was not available but the girl told me that there was another hotel and started to tell me about it. I realised it was the same hotel I had telephoned XL for just 10 mins before and told them that the hotel was not available. they assured me that it was and so proceeded to take my booking. I telephoned XL to ask how another company could give me the hotel allbeit £100 more and they told me that I would get call from Freedom next day telling me that it was not available. I phoned freedom again and told them what had been said and they assured me that this would not happen as I had the confirmation and to go ahead and tell my mum who is disabled that she would be going. Anyway they did not phone me the day after lol instead they phoned me 11 days later just 10 days before I was due to go and said hotel not available we can give you another but you will have to pay another £80 each. The hotel they offered was not suitable for my mum who is in a wheelchair and was too far out from where we wanted to go, so they told me I could cancel and would get a full refund and that it would take after taling to XL 10 days max. Since then I have been trying to get my money back and just being given the runaround XL said they cant talk to me as I booked through an agent (Freedom Direct) so would have to go through them. Phew any way lots of calls later I was told on 2nd January that they had finally received the cheque from XL and that they would refund my card that day ha what a joke today they still have not done that and when phoning them I was told that they have not received the payment back from XL yet. Where on earth do I stand on this and where do I go for help I am just a little fish in a big pond being battered by all the waves. Thanks for reading my rant everyone.

Card refunds can take a few days so give it a little longer.

Failing this you can inform them that you will be taking it up with your local trading standards.

Best to do things in writing where possible-but keep a record of all communications between yourselves.
