Hi,

Firstly hi to everyone, this is my first post, hopefully it'll make sense.

I received a letter this morning from Debt Managers Ltd, demanding payment of £300 ish for an overdue account from AKTIV FI-TOYS R US LTD.

After I had finally calmed down enough to think as I am 100% certain this is very wrong, I searched the internet for information in case I was being scammed and found this most useful site,

As suggested I did the following.

I already subscribe to Credit Expert by Experian so was pretty certain I didn't owe anything to anybody, but I double checked just in case and as expected, there is nothing bad on my credit file over the last six year, no missing payments, nothing, in fact I bought a new TV last week for Christmas from Comet on credit.

On further reading it looks like I have the following options on how to best procede, I would like your help on deceiding what to do next.

1. Do nothing, ignore all letters, do no phone them, do not "restart" a possible debt, if there was anything limitations would have run out.

2. Send a letter asking for a signed CCA to be sent to me, but at the start state that I don't acknowledge any debt?

3. or I have missed something obvious???

Any help is most appreciated, I can't belived people are allowed to do this, I have spent years making sure I have a respectable credit history, it was only this site that stopped me picking up the phone and giving it to them with both barrells:-x , so thanks for that as phoning looks like the worst you can do.

Many Thanks in advance.

Edited to remove exact £ amount they are asking for ;O)

Hi Evoluzione & welcome to CAG :)

I have had dealings with this shower myself. You might want to have a read of my thread:-

See especially post no. 18

They could well have sent you that letter by mistake knowing how they have behaved with us.

I personally would send a CCA letter (by recorded delivery) and see what happens after that. Ensure it states in big letters at the top "I DO NOT ACKNOWLEDGE ANY DEBT TO YOUR COMPANY".

Let us know how you get on.

Love SG x

All,

Right I think I have a success.:)

I sent the CCA request, next day I received another letter from Debt Managers asking me to phone them as "My overdue account has been identified as qualifying for a discount" I ignored this as suggested.

Today I received another letter, this time a general one with a load of tick boxes and various statements on it, the bottom one was ticked stating:

"We refer to your recent correspondance and write to advise that we are no longer dealing with this account. Your communication should be forwarded to our Client direct. We also return the £1.oo fee paid"

Am I right in thinking this should be the last I here from Debt Managers?

I'm really happy as I knew I owed nothing to anyone.

Thank you to all on here.

Yes :)

HAVE YOU BEEN TREATED UNFAIRLY BY CREDITORS OR DCA's?

BEWARE OF CLAIMS MANAGEMENT COMPANIES OFFERING TO WRITE OFF YOUR DEBTS.
