Being a member of Jobsite (amongst others) I just got notification of the following position that might be of interest to me. Do they know more about me than I think?

Amusement aside, I post this to show everyone exactly what DCAs require from their employees. I have highlighted the bits I find interesting. They also tacitly admit that there are some dodgy goings on in the 'industry'.

Please note the total lack of compassion required by the employee or displayed by the potential employer. As you can see, it is totally implied that all debtors that they deal with are 'won't pays'.

If I were an industry regulator, this advert alone would lead me to think that this company does not deserve to hold the relevant licences. Or at the very least should come under some intense scrutiny.

Trace & Collect Associate

 

Leading consumer debt recovery business managing over 60,000 accounts per month on behalf of our clients. Clients include major high street banks, credit card issuers and utilities to support an exciting period of further growth and to have the resources to achieve our goal of being the number 1 debt collection agency in the UK we are now looking to expand our trace department.

 

The purpose of the trace associate is to increase the sales revenues and profitability of the Company through telephone tracing of client debtors, and collection of outstanding debt, for clients who have retained our call centre services.

Handling outbound and inbound calls with debtors as part of a trace team, utilising specialist trace and collections software and Dialler technology. Occasional customer service contact with client of Company. Covers various sectors including high street banks, credit card issuers and utility companies.

 

The role of Trace Associate requires an inquisitive, resilient individual, who would get a buzz from being able to say, "They got their man/woman!" A background in credit control, debt collections, Call centre or Previous trace experience is Preferred but not essential

 

Expected to meet the company's policies on protection of debtor's personal data and non-disclosure to third parties, as well as not misrepresenting themselves or the company in anyway i.e. "call me back as you may have won the lottery".

 

Specific industry experience is not essential but a confident telephone manner and the resilience to want to outwit someone who does not want to speak to you are key attributes of a successful Trace & Collect Associate.

The successful candidate will enjoy a basic salary £14,000 to £16,000 + OTE £4,000, 20 days holiday, personal pension plan (2% employee/3%Employer) and subsidised private healthcare after a qualifying period.

 

The normal contract hours are 37.5.

I wouldn't get out of bed for that. If that's all they are paying, perhaps some of their potential trace-ees will be their own potential employees.

 

Although, if you are only 19 years old and still live with your mum, it's not a bad wage.

and hopefully the resilience to deal with suicide when you have harassed the wrong person.
