I refuse to put lights on the outside of my house ............ just so that I can be different to the rest ;) It looks like mini Blackpool round here and gets worse each year. Takes hubby ages to get from the main road to our house due to people driving round to look at all the lights !!!

My dad has outside lights, they're not going up this year because one of our neighbours died recently but otherwise they're in the garden from 12th December til Boxing day and then on again at new year minus the santa. I think the reason he does it is we're in an area full of elderly folk and they do love seeing the lights (we're not overly mental but there's a load of pines outfront and they look better with lights anyway). We also have the 2 kids who can't go into town to see the big lights because the littlest is severely autistic and can't handle the hussle and bussle of Glasgow when it's so busy.

Any posts submitted here on the Consumer Action Group under the user name GlasweJen may not necessarily be the view of the poster, CAG or indeed any normal person.

I've become addicted to green blobs (I have 2 now) so feel free to tip my scales if I ever make sense.;-)

Heres ours, 2.8kW of lighting so easy enough to do...

Bit windier today though, homer isnt stood up as straight lol!

And my mums (with her neighbour) bout 7kW lighting on hers... had to install a 63 amp industrial mains outlet to plug it into, and make up a timer/contactor box (both got featured on ITV westcountry)

Funniest thing with that was, with all her lights on the voltage dropped to 213 volts so had to get an old colleague to up the tapping of the local substation transformer, now 228v on load, 246 off load ;)

And its all on a green tariff so no dent in the environment ;)

There is a very nice chap in my town that decorated his house every year in hundreds of lights. He also raised money for charity and got the local press and TV stations down for the initial swtich on of the lights. This year he hasn't done it. This is because of some mindless vandals destroyed some of his display last year. I love to see the displays that people put on. It really brightens up the town and makes you feel all Christmassy (if that is how you spell it?).
