I have been receiving letters from Scotcall on behalf of Egg. The most recent said that they would be sending a door step collector. I thought that this was just a scare tactic. So I was rather surprised when I opened my door to a chap from Scotcall. I confirmed that I was who I was but said I knew nothing of the alleged debt. He seemed happy with that and said that he would mark it as a dispute. What will happen next though?

Am I right in thinking I should send Scotcall a CCA.

Has anyone a similar experience with this lot?

Not a lot they can do, if you do not wish them to visit you again then write stating that, if you do a search there are letters on here to that effect, my own personal experience with these guys was they are useless, they sent me a few letters then gave up

Yes zigster, you need to send the CCA request as soon as possible now.

The CCA request can be found here...

Dear xxxx

Account Ref xxxx

Please be advised that I will only communicate with you in writing. I have noted your repeated attempts to contact me by telephone over the past few weeks/months and these have been duly logged by time and date.

Furthermore, should it be your intention to arrange a “doorstep call”, please be advised that under OFT rules, you can only visit me at my home if you make an appointment and I have no wish to make an appointment with you.

There is only an implied license under English Common Law for people to be able to visit me on my property without express permission; the postman and people asking for directions etc (Armstrong v. Sheppard and Short Ltd [1959] 2 Q.B. per Lord Evershed M.R.). Therefore take note that I revoke license under Common Law for you, or your representatives to visit me at my property and if you do so, then you will be liable to damages for a tort of trespass and action will be taken, including but not limited to, police attendance.

Yours faithfully/sincerely,

throw this at the idjits ,should shut em up

regards

paul

With regards to all letters you send them, never sign them in your own signature, best to just type your name in, reason being that it would be all too easy for them to copy and paste your signature onto documents, not that they ever would

Blimey, did you get a picture of this person as I thought they didn't exist, a bit like the Tooth Fairy.

I have wasted alot of tea and cake waiting for them to arrive ;)

Be VERY careful whose advice you listen too

I had scotcall round, I told them that I disagreed with the debt, and the guy was happy to put in his book as a dispute I have not heard from them since and that was about months ago. The account in question is over 7 years old anyway so I would of Statue Barred it afterwards anyway.
