it would seem that the pending court case is being used as an almighty excuse by a lot of banks: nat west have written to say that they wont be sending out the charges breakdown requested, until after the case is settled. they have had their ten pounds. can they do this or are they supposed to comply?

You request for the charges was, I assume, made as a Subject Access Request under the 1998 Data Protection Act. Natwest does not enjoy the right to pick and choose when and how they must comply with this.

If you apply in writing we will provide you with a copy of the Personal Data we hold about you in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998, on payment of a fee. Please contact NatWest Online Banking, Customer Telephone Centre, PO Box 1100, Central House, Otley Road, Harrogate, HG3 1XT for a Subject Access application form.

You might take this up with the ICO if they further refuse to comply.

Nat West are acting unlawfully if they do not send you the personal data you have requested under the Data Protection Act 1998. They are now in breach of this act. Send them a letter from here. Good luck.

Its your money taken unlawfully from your account and you have a legal right to claim it back.
