Just a quicky.

I had a 2 year old default on my credit file from the carphone warehouse for £243.

I simply wrote to them asking them to remove the default marker from my file on receipt of full payment and they agreed, my credit file now shows as settled with no indication that the account was ever defaulted just a few late payment markers and then settled!

Result! :D

Completed:

RBOS Charges - £2435 settled in full :)

RBOS Default Removal - Removed :)

Carphone Warehouse Default Removal - Removed :)

Welcome Finance Default Removal - Removed :)

Viking Direct CCJ - Removed :)

Littlewoods Default - Removed :-o

Ongoing:

um, no matter who you pay the default should show as settled, that doesn't necessarily improve your credit rating, and the defaulted months still show on a credit search until the 6 year marker is reached.

My view is the worst they can do is threaten court action and debt collection action, most of which is just threats and hot air. After 6 years the marker will disappear just the same as if you pay. Personally I'd want written confirmation of removal of the default if you are contemplating paying up in full.... just my opinion.

If in doubt, contact a qualified insured legal professional (or my wife... she knows EVERYTHING)

Or send a cheque or postal order payable to Reclaim the Right Ltd.

Hi... Can you please give me the details of the person with whom you got in touch with? I travelled out of UK for 7 months in 2008 and by the time I was back I had a default on my credit file... !!!

The bill was around £520 and I settled it recently.. but I paid a very heavy price for it. I lost my dream job because I failed the credit checks due to this default :-( Please help me !! If I can get this removed, it will be a dream come true for me.

Thanks.. Can anyone tell me how to start a thread... I just joined in today and its all very confusing

As yours is a telecoms query you can start a new thread here:

http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?115

A short way down the page (on the left) is a 'Post new thread' button. Clck on that, give your thread a heading and put your issues down.

Don't give out anything that may identify you. If Caggers need more info, they will ask
