Looks like I may have the dreaded stretched chain issue on my 2003 Nissan Micra 1.2! Can someone please recommend an good independent specialist with experience of doing this work. I’m in Manchester but anywhere in the North West would do?

Many thanks in advance.

There appears to be so many misconceptions about main dealers. Like in most walks of life there are good ones and bad ones, whether they be main dealers or independant. I always use a main dealer for my vehicles, however it isn't the one local to me as I don't find them to be any good, therefore am prepared to travel a little. A friend of mine used to use an independant garage and was paying more than main dealer prices and eventually realised that they were only doing half the work that they were meant to be doing. You pays your money and takes your choice. But at the end of the day recommendation is always best, whether they be main or independant.

Simply down to price and choice.

This is a very big job and therefore labor rate and quality of workmanship is important. I'm after recomendations for good independants to compare prices for this job. I doubt I'm worng in assuming the main dealer hourly rate will be the highest (almost) every time. (and high rate does not always = high workmanship)
