Hi Has anyone ever claimed back their charges from Studio cards catalogue?

I found all my statements going all the way back to 2000 and am appauled to see payment protection charges ( which I wrote three times to stop paying towards as it wasn't required - luckily in with the statements were photocopies of these letters that I had sent).Strangely the payment protection charges stopped for a couple of months after each letter was sent and then re-appeared magically.

The administration charges were hefty too!

But what I'm a little confused about is... are the service charges reclaimable? or are they just interest hidden under a fancy wording?

e.g. my service charges fluctuate from 0.36 - £12.80 they all appear on my statements as just *service charge*.

Any advice on what to do about these would be greatly appreciated - in the meantime I'll crack on with my spreadsheets for the admin charges and P protection:lol:

NatWest : £857.00 won! March/07

Natwest : Witholding my statements & adding defaults etc , S.A.R sent Jan/08

Natwest for my partner : £2,101.00 won! Feb/07

Studio Cards : Refund for admin charges £108 Won! Dec/07

Complaint made to FOS for P.P.I Jan/08

Nationwide: S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) sent for statements Nov/07 ( waiting to see what happens in the OFT test case )

Littlewoods : defaulted on CCA request Feb/07

DCA's that crawled out from the woodwork and have crawled back : 28 so far!!

Apparently service charges are interest. I have tried claiming them back through the FOS who say they are entitled to do this. I have been offered my charges back but not PPI I am still going to pursue it though and I think you should.

good luck

A quick update...... I totted up my admin charges which came to £328 unbelievably and the PPI = £338 and did a spreadsheet and a letter of complaint wanting them back.

A lovely lady called Lisa replied on 5th November stating that all the admin charges would be reinbursed plus 8% on top of this and that a cheque would follow.

She also stated that the PPI claim would be passed to the relavent department.

2 weeks later and still no cheque I have phoned them twice and been promised a phone call back but none have surfaced so I sent them a letter yesterday to state that although I am pleased to accept the admin charges back if I haven't recieved the cheque within the next 7 days I will take my complaint onto a much higher level.

I wouldn't mind but it's bad service to promise phonecalls back when none are ever made grrrrrrrrrrr:D

Tell them you are complaining to the FOS, this costs them £400 once an investigation starts. May just put them into action.

My claim was finally settled. I got back all charges, ppi and interest and all further service and admin charges are frozen subject to me paying the balance on time. Quite happy to do this it was their level of charges I was unhappy with.

Hi ya all Just a strange turn of events I eventually got my cheque from Studio last week and banked it - to my utter disbelief this morning I looked at my online banking and the cheque as bounced!!!!

Now I have a fee from the bank for an unpaid cheque and three direct debits due out tomorow which are sure to bounce grrrrrrrrrrrr!

Can a company do this by law?

Don't worry my letter to the Financial ombusdman is being composed now and I have phoned Studio ( who didn't answer all day but I cunningly phoned Express Gifts at their registered offices and spoke to the M.D who was disgusted and put me through on his direct line) hmmmm! I'm awaiting a return phone call but won't hold my breath ..... any thoughts?

I would send a letter headed OFFICIAL COMPLAINT and stress that you banked the cheque and was fully expecting this cheque to clear which would have met the d/d's due from your account but as it has bounced it has now left you with bank charges. I would certainly go for claiming them back. Send them a copy of your statement showing the charges. Tell them they have 10 days to reimburse all your charges together with a new cheque, which hopefully will not bounce, failing which an official complaint will be sent to the FOS.

Hi Suprise I have done all of the above today and have also printed off my B.T. phone bill to show the amount of time they have kept me on hold regarding this whole process and have also included in the charges that I would like my phone calls reinbursed too ( one was £3.21 alone )

Nice one Caz.

Studio have just added admistration charges to my account for not sending me a statemnet last month. They have admitted they did not send a statement but they would not refund the charges. It turns out that all but one bag of statements got picked up by Royal Mail.

I think l am going to CCA these idiots after christmas.

Just a quick update on my Studio activities...well....The cheque bounced leaving me charges on my bank account so after £7.00 of telephone calls I eventually recieved a replacement cheque with no letter of apology or reasoning why they had cancelled the previous cheque. So yesterday I wrote to the FOS enclosing my telephone bill, bank statement and all correspondence sent and recieved regarding the matter so I'll have to sit and wait and see what their findings are.

Plus in a seperate letter Studio have sent me a goodwill gesture of £7.25 to settle my P.P.I claim ( poo poo to that it added up to more that £300 ). Luckily I'd saved a RoyalMail signed for reciept from a letter I had sent them back in April 2005 with a copy of the letter instructing them I wanted it cancelled - which they ignored. So this has been mailed to the FOS too, I'll let you all know how it goes and keep your peckers up:D

Received another letter from the FOS yesterday explaining that my case has been given to an adviser and that if they need anymore information they will be in touch ( the letter also stated that this type of complaint can sometimes take six - nine months to resolve )

So I can put my feet up for a while with this one and will hopefully hear something when the warm weather finally arrives......roll on summer and barbeques in the garden:)

Recieved another letter from FOS today which is rather bewildering explaining that I am still awaiting allocation and that they have a really big back log at the moment.

I'm not in a rush and I suppose Rome wasn't built in a day:)

At least I'm in the system.

Hi Mishel I know a few people on here who have had Studio investigated by FOS.

When Studio wrote back with their final response to my complaint they enclosed a leaflet for FOS in with it incase I wanted to persue the matter further. So I'd look into again and perhaps give FOS a phone.
