Awww, thank you everyone.

What a crazy bunch they are that I work with!! It was very informative and I think it would be good to be a permanent staff member there because the perks are amazing. It was a lot of fun and I learnt a lot and they're a nice crowd. Not snobs and they all like a laugh. Unlike the last place I worked where you had to be something you were not. This suits me much better.

I've made a couple of friends and I knew some of the people that work there already. I've been put in a team with a lovely girl - I worked with her boyfriend in my last job so we kind of know each other that way.

I think I might like it here. We'll see - so far so good.

As soon as I get paid I can do the "inevitable" - still find it hard to say BR! And then I can live again.

I did a strange thing today. Instead of paying for my fuel with my cash card I took the money out of the hole in the wall. Might be too little too late but I think I might just be learning!!!

ETA - Fermi, have you been BR? You sound like you know a lot - if you don't mind me asking. And thanks Hippy Chick - you're a sweetheart!

Kisses

Wow. :) That sounds like a fab first day!

ETA - Fermi, have you been BR? You sound like you know a lot - if you don't mind me asking.

I have been bankrupt. Plus I occasionally post on MSE under the same username.;)

There is a vast amount of experience and support here on CAG, on MSE, and on a few other public forums that can help you through bankruptcy.

It's a tough time, but there are people out there who have been through the same thing or are doing it at the same time as you. Keep posting on these forums and you will be amazed at the support you will get. :)

Thank you for being so honest Fermi. I am so happy I found everyone and thank God I haven't come across one person on here or MSE to say I told you so "touch wood" - I need to get all the forms sorted and then I can set the ball rolling. I am worried about having time off but I think if I say it's an important legal matter they can't really stop me if I am temping - or even a day off sick??? I don't want to be dishonest because they're nice there so far. I suppose I'll test the water and see if I can work my day off with my BR day.

I spoke to someone from MSE on MSN last night. I read her case study and she sounded just like me. I then found out that since she has gone BR - she's lost 4 STONE! and that is another aspect of my life affected by debt because I want to go out and buy clothes but I can't and I don't want to the size I am. Debt affects so many aspects of your life. I hope I can start rebuilding my life after this is over.

Thank you Geoff - you get a special "kinky wink"

Ditto to the weight loss... our BR hearing was 18 months ago. It became obvious at the end of November that we were sinking and something very serious had to be done, the actual decision and phone call to the court to arrange an appointment was done between the Xmas and New Year period. Our date was then set for the 1st March.

In November I was a slim size 12, by the time the appointment came with the OR at the end of March I was an appalling size 6. Its not that I did not eat, but the appetite had certainly gone. It was purely the stress of the unknown. I looked awful as size 10/12 is the size I should be. It took over a year to get back to size 12 again.

I beleive though that the problem was, we felt totally alone. No-one really knew what we were doing, I did not use this site, or any other forums, so had no support. We knew we were making the right decision for us, so that wasn't the issue really.

The few people we did confide in, we only did because we had to. My In Laws knew how hard things financially were for us, so we told them what was going on. MIL used to keep questioning us.."so? do you think they will take the car then? What about the kids computer games?" I know she was worried about us, but the stress involved was incredible.

My hubby had been suffering from depression for at least 2 years before the BR and had a breakdown 6 months before. Walking away from the OR appointment was a real turning point in our lives, and beleive me, it will be for you. Keep coming back to this (and MSE forums) the best thing you can do now is keep talking to people who know what they are talking about, You will rebuild your life again, and you will learn from this (we have) Things will get better and normality will not be a dream any more.

:)

I won against MBNA, Nat West , Barclays, Barclaycard and PPI payments from Barclaycard

Abbey National still to go.... what will I do with my spare time?

Thanks again Geoff. We've discussed the weight thing before. Tomterm I know it's just something that is affected isn't it? Obviously worry and debt wil affect you physically and mentally.

Standingupformyself - that took guts. Thank you for telling us (me). I hope your husband is ok now after his nervous condition. I'm sorry you went through what you did. Debt is a real problem here and half of it's not our fault.

And yes it affects health, weight, relationship, sex (don't start Geoff and Shane because I know you have rude minds - just kidding) - no it does because let's face it who wants to make love when you feel over or underweight through stress and worry and have fun when you have all this stuff hanging over you. Happy couples are those not bogged down by debt and stress and they're ok.

I haven't had a relationship for years for fear that someone will find out what I've done.

Once my BR is over I want it to change me. For the better - it has for the girl I met on MSE.

So I just want this to be a lesson learned and a chapter closed. I've got HFO kind of at bay but not the others. Blair Oliver and Scott have phoned 6 times today on my mobile. I have the number stored - thank God for silence and caller ID.

I want to put my ringtone on - I've forgotten what it sounds like!

Getting fired and going bankrupt (wooohoo she said the word) might be the best thing that's happened to me in years.

The job I was doing (I was temping) has just been advertised as a permanent post and would you believe that they had the AUDACITY to use the rota that I devised!!!!!! The cheeky sods! It's part of the JOB DESCRIPTION. I know it sounds like sour grapes but believe me it's not - it's just unfair handling of staff and mark my words the turnover there will be immense because its't so mismanaged!

I was too good for them!

I think that you are right there GL about men and women taking stress in different ways.

Over the last two years I had worked my butt off trying to keep all the creditors happy. Worked anywhere between 60-100 hours a week for the last year. It all sunk in one night when I actually got home in time to see my youngest daughter(aged 6) just before she went to bed, she said whos that man mummy. I had not seen her awake for nearly two weeks. Only saw the wife three times in that time as well.

That was it for me, I had to do something to try and get our lives back, it was getting me down big time.

BR was the best thing I ever did.

Tip us a wink on my scales if you think I may have helped at all;)

  • 2 weeks later...

An update

This is the week I'm phoning the court guys so wish me luck! I got paid on Friday and I have enough to finally do my BR and have a bit left over.

I need to fill in my forms which shouldn't take too long because I have all my information to hand. Anything I've done wrong I am sure my OR will go through with me. Or I can ring the Insolvency Helpline.

The new job is great. I'm going live on the phones tomorrow. Liking it a lot so far and my team are lovely. Really nice gang. I paid the deposit for our Christmas "do" on Friday and I'm off to Manchester in two weeks for a night out. Went out last weekend - on a shoestring budget but I had a brilliant time. I think I'm finally living again.

I'll keep you all informed!

Kinky kisses to all that want them ;)

Lots of Love
