Can I do anything?

Today in work, my credit card company phoned me in work, don't know why as I am up to date in payments, anyway, I wasn't there to take the call, and the person who called started to give out personal details about me to my colleague, address, date of birth etc, asking if these details were correct, my colleague said that she didn't know if my address etc was correct, are these companies allowed to do this? Is there anything I can do, do I complain to OFT about this? Thanks in advance.

I don't think they can do that Data Protection Act ?

No it was the Halifax.

You need to report this to the ICO. You can fill in a complaint form on line. You also need to send a very strong worded letter to Halifx, don't let them off the hook. They are seriously out of order. When you write to them copy in, OFT, your local TS and the ICO. When you complete the form on line for the ICO you can attach a copy of your letter. They have no right whatsoever to ask anyone questions regarding your personal details.
