Bad credit bank account

Hello,

 

I've just been turned down for a Natwest Step account and wondered if anyone knew of any other basic bank account I can get with-what must be-seriously bad credit!

I recently had some incorrect credit info recorded on me from a loan company which they tell they've now removed (and I'm waiting for confirmation) but I fear this may have contributed to my refusal-though I thought that Step account was opened regardless of credit...?

 

I want to write to Abbey re their charges but I would like a backup account first so would be really grateful for any advice.

I applied for, and got, an alliance & leicester account and my credit ratings pretty poor. I applied on line and got a cheque book and visa electron card with it.

I tried A&L and they told me "thanks but no thanks!"

Try Coop Cashminder or the Nationwide basic Flexaccount. If things are really bad the Woolwich do a very basic (ie no internet access) savings account with a Visa Electron card.

try barclays cashcard account.........its good for bad credit and even bankrupt's. You get a visa connect card......check it out!

I thought that the banks have to issue Basic Bank Accounts by law or something. Its so its easier for people with benefits and people with bad credit to get a bank account and have access to banking.
