firstly, approach the credit agency and get a copy of you file.

any little 'mishaps' that you have had remain on there for a number of years, but ( and someone with a little more knowledge of this area may correct me ) you can enter a 'note' on it (for future businesses to read) which explains why it happened in the first place. REMEMBER though, you cant use deformation of character. be precise and explain clearly, eg.. through divorce, your financial situation changed or through ill health etc.

if all debts are cleared now, then companies will look at these notes along with all the other info and then decide on future risks. if they can see that your debt is through a particular hardship you have suffered, then you may be lucky.

Please note that although my advice is offered, you should consult your legal representative before taking ANY action.

have a nice day !!

Thanks, I have started writing to companies and to cra's but with the exception of Bank of Scotland they would appear to be ignoring my letters.

Thought would give 28 days then send further letter advising that have 7 days to replay or will refer to financial ombudsman. Do you think that this is the correct way to go?

Any bips in yr credit history apper on ur report for 6yrs. it goes like this

default 6 yrs from date of default

bankruptcy 6 yrs from court date

settled accounts 6 yrs from settled date.

Yes you have done what i would consider as right. I am trying to sort my credit history out and a few companys have got rid of stuff of my credit report just by me writing to them but if it is before 6 yrs dont expect it to happen.

Please remember the only stupid question is the one you dont ask so dont worry about asking the stupid questions.
