I purchased a 42" LG plasma in december of 2005 and didn't extend the warranty because I was told by a friend the sale of goods act would cover me.

The screen is showing random flashing pixels in dark areas, word on the web is that it's a common problem, I rang LG and they denied it.

Dixons are telling me to get an independant engineer out to prove that it's a manufacturing defect :S

help

Am i covered under the sale of goods act?

You are covered under the SOGA if its a manufacturing defect, but you do need to prove it is one. So you do need that independents engineers report to be able to claim a repair/replacement.

Yes, an independent qualified engineer needs to prove the fault was inherent - ie present when you bought it.

If that is the case Dixons are liable to repair or replace the unit under SOGA.
