Hi all, I'm kind of in the same boat with these guys, http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?476654-Australian-Debt-Complete-Credit-Solutions&p=5042016#post5042016 but for a far less amount ($5k). Im based in NZ - long story short the debt is in my name, but don't trust your (now ex) girlfriend in an absolute manner to settle the debt on breakup, even though its hers! No amount has been paid on this in two years. What is a reasonable timeframe to propose for a payment arrangement? Its a rather small(ish) amount, so I do know they won't be spending large amounts of time/money recovering a debt from someone based overseas. Any and all advice/direction would be greatly appreciated. The lady on the other end is an absolute hothead and hung up on me, so I'll keep that ace up my sleeve if they try to play hardball (I did state I was recording the conversation). Documentation (Notice of Assignment of Debt) has been emailed through to me on request. What is a reasonable timeframe to propose for a payment arrangement? Quite amazing pictures of the recent earthquakes in New Zealand. The cost of repairing the damage will run into billions. And if you look at the live earthquake map online, they are still having regular tremors that are making damage caused even worse. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-37970775 Having been to that part of New Zealand, the major road network is pretty limited and if you have the main road blocked by landslides, the alternative roads will mean a detour that would take hours. Kaikoura has been completely cut off and tourists are being taken out by helicopter.

Hi guys, apologies if I'm not posting this in the correct forum. I have loans with SLC that began in 1995. I never reached the GBP repayment limit and left the UK in 2001 to go travelling. I informed SLC at the time and, whilst having returned for visits to the UK, I have been living in either Australia and now New Zealand to date. My postal address hasn't been updated from my parents address in the UK and SLC still send any correspondence to their address. I have successfully deferred my loans each year, sending three or four monthly payslips and enclosing my employers details. In 2011, I got a job paying NZD72,500 so when I received that years deferment forms, it was with some trepidation that I sent them back. Strangely, my application was came back as successful and deferral granted. This was the same for 2012 (no change in income) I have submitted my 2013 application and since been refused deferment. When I wrote and questioned this, I was told that neither 2011/12 loans should have been deferred, that SLC would not be backdating any payments and that I should begin repayments forthwith. I am right to question this or have I just been lucky the last couple of years? Any advice would be greatly appreciated Cheers

Hi, I currently have a huge student loan debt in New Zealand. I am in the UK. The NZ govt is now trying to recover defaulted loans mainly in Australia and now the UK, soon to be using DCAs. Does anyone know how easy it is to trace a debtor if the DCA only has a name and date of birth? Also does an overseas debt become a UK debt if passed to a UK based DCA?
