  1. I can't buy the shirts I want from the popular internet stores ( or local shops). After searching the net more fully I came across the C&A website. This website is in English and displays a selection of shirts I want to buy and in my very large size. I tried to order a couple. When I got to destination address (what country) I discovered C&A don't deliver to the UK. Deliver to nearly all Europe. What happened to their UK stores?? Matalan sell Morley shirts that are designed to suit me but only go up to 2XL. Is there a C&A Outlet shop in UK.??
  2. Advice Needed. Please, this questions could have bee raised already but I am facing a nightmare here. To make this very brief, I sent 8000 from my personal bank account with another bank and also 6800 from my small business account to a newly opened Barclays bank account totaling 14800. both money was sent from my own bank account with the same bank. two weeks afterwards, being 25th August , past bank holiday, me and my spouse where at both at our local Barclays bank to withdraw 7500 but was turned down after waiting 1 hour and said my account has been blocked and suddenly under review. since then we have been tormented and could not collect funds carry out plans marriage plans or make payment to vendors. I made a formal ,complain about this and today received a call to say that the account is now closed for fraud and our funds is held be Barclays. the guy i spoke to was terrible blunt and rude and that I should call the account closing team to know if I can get my Money back. The funds i deposited in Barclays £8000 came from my own account, savings over the years, cleaning, freelancing and **** packing. the 6800 was from my business account. totally 14800. Now Barclays said that they have held my money and to provide proof of it. what does proof of the money means? has anyone heard of this type of thing before, I hope I am describing this correctly for easy understanding, this is what has Happened to me. Advise needed.
  3. My niece and her mother were subjected to an arson attack on their home over 4 weeks ago. Police are investigating and the fire brigade have already been and reported that the occupants should not be living in the property due to fire damage and smoke inhalation. They live in a multi-occupancy home, with their home on one side and a neighbours on the other. Their neighbours home also sustained some damage on their doors and smoke inside their home. Hyde has sent numerous contractors to try and clean the soot from the walls but it is still there, electricians to put in temporary battery powered lights and a surveyor as there is structural damage. They have also written a report for Anti social behaviour (which is what they are classing the attack as) but refuse to move them to temporary accommodation and will not provide them will a letter to take to Lewisham Housing. My nieces mother has liver problems and attends A&E frequently due to inhaling the fumes from the soot which is causing her difficulty breathing. Is there anything they can do:?:
  4. My 82 year old mum hasn't been too well recently and her local Nat West Branch has closed down and the new one is a nightmare for parking and she doesn't walk too well. She also got caught out by a phone holiday spoof to the tune of a few hundred quid and became paranoid about the company knowing her account details so we decided that maybe a change to a new bank was a good option. Barclays is my and my sisters bank as well and as difficult as it is to talk about if something happens to mum before it happens to me we theorised that if we are all at the same bank things would be easier to deal with, but it has all become a bit of a disaster!! We had a meeting with an advisor who looked into it and after doing her bit on computer stated that mum qualified for a basic account which would not include an overdraft or the option to loan. To be fair mum has plenty of money in her account and gets very good pension and investment returns so the need for an overdraft or loan is highly unlikely as her balance stays pretty much the same each month and it's far higher than my balance is!!! The one thing the advisor forgot to mention though was that mum wouldn't get a cheque book and I wouldn't have know that anyway being a Barclays Current Account holder since I was in my teens!! This was only brought to our attention over a week later when I rang Barclays to ask because mum mentioned she hadn't received one, which we obviously thought was the norm, but was told that she couldn't get a cheque book for a basic account. We then went back for a meeting because this was baffling. It then became clear that mum had been declined a current account (hence the basic) but the reason for why she has been declined is unclear and apparently the advisors do not get told the reason so obviously the customer cannot argue against it. The advisor to be fair did apologise profusely for not explaining clearly and for forgetting to mention the cheque book and said the reason could be something to do with a credit score. I've however checked mums credit score on Experian and it was 999. She has no debts, mortgage paid off years ago, no loans taken out for years if ever as far as I know, plenty of cash in the account and has never had an issue getting credit cards, of which she pays off in full...… Could this be the problem?! The annoyance is that mum relies on her cheque book and is in a muddle and is having to either get me to send cheques for her or she has to withdraw large amounts of cash. The bank suggested waiting a couple of months and when they have seen how the account is managed and that Barclaycards have been paid off etc then they can reapply for a current account. If it is still declined then the only option is to go back to Nat West who have already said she can have a current account with cheque book like she did before, but it will obviously be a pain switching once again and I suspect all of the Direct Debit companies will be baffled as to what is happening!! Barclays have also made a mess up with statements as well with mum not receiving one statement in the two months since the account opened so I am chasing up that as well mum called Barclays Head Office last week and the guy on the phone couldn't understand why she hadn't been given a cheque book so we will wait and see if he gets any joy, although I would say probably not!!! So any ideas as to why this happens? Especially as I as an 18 years old got a current account without an issue and with probably no job at the time albeit 35 odd years ago!! It seems bizarre especially as they hide the reason. I am wondering in part if it's because she is a retired widow so upon first check they may not have known what monthly income she would be receiving but they would have seen from the account surely? Help massively appreciated.
  5. I got a pre action protocol letter with a form, from Restons for a next account which has been passed to Debt Managers (Services). I ticked box I and requested a copy of the contract, statement of account, details of any administrative charges, copy of notice of assignment and a copy of the default notice. I received a reply from them providing with a few details; date account was opened, address used (which is incorrect btw), last order date, last items ordered, last payment date and amount. The letter says I have not provided any information as to why I don't know if I owe the debt, and asking me to confirm 'why you are unsure if you owe the debt so that our client can understand your position'. It reads like a template reply to me, but I am unsure how to word my response. Do I need to give a reason why I am unsure under the pre action protocol, or should I write back simply asking them for the information I originally requested?
  6. Sent my appeal off with some brief details of why i was appealing , Had a Letter from DWP confirming that they received my appeal, and about how much ESA i will get until it's heard, But so far over 1mth since requesting the full written statement of the Atos wca Form IB /ESA85, But so far i have not been sent it, The person that i recently spoke with from DWP ,Confirmed that they could see that i had previously requested it, but could not understand why i had not yet received it, What can be done to force them to supply this info,(assuming it actually exists) ?
  7. Was called today by I.C.B..... Definitely something to do with motor insurance.. I went through 'security' and when they asked for my address I refused but give the my name and DOB... They said I have not passed security and hung up.. ha! I called Premium Credit who work with Adrian Flux to take credit payments said it is nothign to do with them (that's who I am insured by). So what do I do here? I realy don't care about my credit score because it's to pants is the whole scoring system anyway... But yeah would like to know what's up with these cowboys.
  8. Concerning the issue of whether we are a casual worker or a an employee there is many criteria to consider for example the time we work for the employer, our skills, whether he employs us only in case of shortage or during peak time or he uses us in the normal running of our business...etc. However I would like to know if the conclusive evidence is not when the P45 has been issued because if it has been issued one year after the start of employment this means that we are now an employee. It is up to the employer to decide if he need us anymore or nor and as a consequence if he send us our P45 or not. If the employer decides because it is not convenient for him not to issue a P45 at the end of each project we could be consider as an employee There is also the issue of HMRC and in order the employer not to pay tax maybe a worker has to work only for a small period of time and not come back for a long time There is also the issue of the difference between temporary employee and a casual worker
  9. Now old Tawnyowl has moved into the import market, sometimes a little exporting after buying a few goods from China. I did not think I ever would but I cannot resist their prices. Watches and other articles on a small scale, just in case the Taxman is watching i did say small scale. You never know where they are these Tax Men from what i have read. Then i sell to my friends, online or on the car boot. Now of course i want sales and even compete the Chinese if possible out of business to win sales from wherever. But no matter how i try am convinced that i am on an unfair playing field. In one way. How can the Chinese businessman or lady ship goods half way across the world so cheaply when i try to sell items but sometimes the postage makes me frown when only going to the next town.Postage costs are holding me back. Now a year ago i did say to my postmaster who had done the job for decades.Hey Mr Postmaster how come your parcel delivery service over 1 or two kilo say is so damn expensive.Do you not want to compete,do you want to let competitors take your business away. He said it is the cost of Pensions, that is why they are so high. But surely you have to compete not let that part of the market be ripped away. I thought when people pay pension contributions the money goes into a pot and the wise ones invest so plenty is available when employees retire. Now of course he may just have been trying to calm me down, there was a big queue by then behind me. May have just been saying anything to get rid of me,but always found him truthful and a pleasant chap. Another thought out of my head.Think what you like about my one thought for today. And say what you think. I am sure there are many wise ones out there want to put me right. Carry on, i do not mind.My skin lately has got a little thicker,i can take it. Tawnyowl.
  10. We learned yesterday that our entire catering team are to be made redundant as the contract we are working under has been terminated. But we also know that the new building owner has every intention of providing catering when they take over in a few months! This cannot be fair and surely that is what the TUPE regulations are designed for - does anyone have any advice?

"How would you commit suicide" and "Why have your attempts to kill yourself failed?" They reckon that the training enables their staff to deal with claimants sensitively.. hmm !!

  15. I was hoping that if I ended up on JSA, I could do their token jobsearch on the abysmal Jobmatch site and then do my own jobsearch later on at home at proper sites like Indeed or whatever, but it seems they're not letting you do that without a sanction. Why is that? Don't they trust us to look for ourselves? They honestly don't want people claiming benefits in the first place so it would be obvious that they would help us in our OWN jobsearch rather than theirs. In fact, I heard a rumour that those upright machines with the touchscreens that print out jobs for you have disappeared entirely from ALL JCPs - is that true?
  16. I received a phone call today from my previous council, the gentleman said he called me with regards to my very old address dating back to 1999-2004. I was a student then and found the flat through a normal Estate Agents, signed the Tenancy Agreement and moved in. Today, 2017, four children later I get a phone call from the council enforcement team informing me that I owe over £4000.00 in BUSINESS RATES. I was never informed that it was an "office" I was living in and to my total amazement they even took to me to court and I have a liability order from 2005. This is approx a year after moving out. I wasn't the only tenant, there was a gentleman above me in another flat and they built yet another flat in the loft when I moved out. My flat had a bathroom with a bath and a kitchen and looked nothing like an office. My LL at the time informed me that I wouldn't have to pay council as I was a student and it would have been included anyway. The gentleman from the council informed me that I am 100% liable and even though landlord or estate agent deceived me. I am in total shock and feel that I have no choice other than to start to pay this huge amount. There weren't any letters chasing the so called Business Rates throughout my time there and all correspondence from Landlord stated My name, then, First Floor Flat, 33 So-called Road and Postcode. Unfortunately I don't have more than 3 letters after that many years and I feel well and truly confused. The man also informed me that their records only go back 7 years so they will not be able to investigate nor look further into it as "the Law of the Land" (his words) has already decided that I am liable. Does anyone know why landlords would do this? What do I do? I have 7 days to respond Please advice or wake me up from this nightmare :frosty: Please let me know if I need to post this in another section, unsure and new to this.
  17. I have just found out something worrying via the Credit reference agency's and just wanted to see what other peoples views are on this matter, if any. In my opinion this is worrying because I don't think many people know that information that may be needed in the future is lost in the past If you the public do not act. let me explain, Recently I asked Experian If I could see my credit file for the whole month of September 2009 as I believed that a certain company had been doing some wrong things to my credit files and I needed to prove that they were unlawfully readjusting a default date, a tactic they do all the time to lengthen the time the default is on your credit file. Upon asking for this information I was shocked to be told that because I myself haven't generated the file on that specific date ( logging into Experian and having a look) that there is no records to show me, that they just do not exist. Which basically means that if you don't look at your credit file you will never be able to see what's been going on with your file in the future. I wonder if company's get to know who and who doesn't generate their file. Any thoughts... BB a4v
  18. I have written complaint to my local council that I haven't received few letters from them including one with PIN to 'Council Online' and other decision including some of my data and informations that if missed could bring further negative consequences. In response I have received letter through encrypted [?] means [egress]. It says that I should contact RoyalMail and chase why letters are not getting to me. Am I right that it is Council that is in the contract with RM and it's their job to find out what is going on and they trying to fob me off? What do you reckon I should do next? If I'm right that is. Thanks
  19. Old Tawnyowl here with entrepreneurial adventure number 966. For various reasons,a small heart attack a while ago and i suppose slowly aging i had to change my life around. Could not do what i used to do.It hurts a little but just the way,i miss my life in the construction industry and the people and customers i met.To myself it was fun and looked forward to going to work each day for many hours. I find now after a few hours i have a little pain, probably due to the medication.Hospital and doctors says i am ok. At the time i did not go on the sick but struggled on after coming out of hospital, not one of my better ideas. Developed another small ailment that trapped nerves in my back and shoulder and had no choice but to go on the sick. Ended up at the medical centre for a assessment as many do.Being chirpy despite a little pain i received 0 point, fit to work. I wanted to work, many of us have that drive,it feels good to have a little money for lifes essentials. Such as food, warmth, heating, and perhaps if lucky a outing or two. My small business at the time was one of the top reviewed in the country, and no trickery could take place, things were checked carefully. Anyway after ending up at the job centre the week universal credit arrived in town i was accepted. Just did not seem to fit in,tried telling them about my ailments, not to avoid work but to find something that fitted to my new life.Say maybe 4 or five hours a day.I feel in all honesty i would be tricking employers applying for many jobs as i would be found out. Do you want to be a Kitchen Porter,a Taxi Driver,a Tram driver,Conductor. Nothing wrong with those jobs but knew i would not cope and maybe the medical for some would find me out. And my mind is funny ,i worry about what ifs.The idea of a weakened heart and moving the public about things like that. Hundreds were applying anyway, younger, fitter and correct for the jobs. I got along with the staff, not all of them but most. But just did not fit in it felt that way anyway. Nobody seemed to listen. Finally the greatest idea came, would you like to be a security guard perhaps,go on a course get a card. You felt obliged to apply for any job which is the way i suppose. If you do not all hell could descend on you. There is no doubt i felt intimidated and just walked out feeling absolutely useless. After enrolling. Excuse me sir would you not mind grappling with me i have a heart condition and please do not hit me with that bottle you have just nicked,my blood is a little thin, never mind chasing anyone thoughts were going round my head. I saw some sad things that people this day and age should not be going through. Phoned them up before the course and said i am off to take a chance. You cannot do that you need to see a adviser specially trained for self employment,a business plan and god knows what else.Fair enough for younger ones who have no experience and young but i am approaching 61 and have a little experience gained over 40 years. Which before i go on any longer i will have to mention my thoughts of a Basic Income for all. Many things will have to be ironed out but seems a idea fit for today, never mind the future. A idea whose time has come. A thread discussing this idea for those that like a good read perhaps with a few laughs. Not all is serious. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?461005-Basic-Income-Guarantee-Do-You-Like-The-Idea-Any-Views-Have-Your-Say. Now where was i up to i have lost track. It was now a few years since the old heart decided to give me a shock and slowly had started propagating and collecting things over these years with a rough plan. To set up a online business and the odd car boot and sell a few things. Registered with the tax man and away i went.It had to work or else. Maybe a year now. I know perhaps this seems a little funny but here are my adventures in car booting for those that have not read it. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?464368-Car-Boots-Dealers-Stories-People-i-meet-and-more-you-can-join-in.Your-story. Now this is what i am doing. You have to be pretty tough in business,so many ups and downs. My idea online is to probe away, looking for weaknesses in things i know about, like certain plants. And other things.Online and who is selling them and then try to get a market share. As big as possible with stock you have. And at a fair price with reasonable postage costs. It is funny if that is the word watching them watching me trying to outmaneuver me,Cockneys, and people from around the country wanting their share which is right.I know i am having a little effect. One line has now reached a,do not laugh, perhaps up to around 20 pound a week with much more potential next year. So obviously i am now probing elsewhere.trying things, trying to beat my competitors, checking things out, looking for weaknesses in my competitors as in my plant business. But with larger potential. Get perhaps 15 lines selling reasonable and you can see ,well in my lifestyle i will be like a contented cat. So this is where your expertise comes in for those selling online wherever. I know we do not like giving away places where things are selling well. But have you noticed some online sites weakening and people moving to other places. Things change so fast nowadays. Any tips for businesses who are just getting going, perhaps setting up your own website to cut costs a little. Where are the up and coming areas to try.The places to open a website and how.Not everyone knows and could save days making mistakes when time is so important. I have written so much now i do not know where i started from. Hope it makes a little sense. Bye for now. Tawnyowl.
  20. Hi I'm new to forums. I dropped an air passenger off at Liverpool Airport's "Express Drop Off" zone, in a car park that I could not avoid as it was on the end of a No Stopping road. I was stopped for 30 seconds. When I went to the barrier to leave they demanded £2 and went on about a contract and a sign on the road which I had not seen and more .... after about 20 minutes I snapped the barrier by pushing it out of the way and went to leave in my car. The car park called the Police who asked very similar questions about a contract. Now I've investigated and found PoFA S54 and do not like the idea that a person can detain me on the grounds that they demand that I have agreed to a contract of which I am unware. Oh my defence for snapping the barrier is that I was trying to prevent a crime. No further action. So I've begun the Practice Directions pre-action letters and get a reply from the car park supervisor. They have a ParkMark accreditation, but don't bother to display T&Cs, as required. No T&Cs = no contract, not just for me but to anyone. They detained me for 45 until cops let me go. I asked the cop if he was recording his trying to coerce me into agreeing to a contract. He was. Snapping the barrier was proportionate and reasonable in the circumstances cos I felt trapped. Does anyone know where they got the right to detain me from cos it ain't S54(3) PoFA 2012? No one should be confused into accepting a nonsense contract, that is not on offer, by hostile, sneering people claiming that a sign on a 40 m.p.h. road which is only in view for 3 seconds as it flies past means you've agreed a contract and pay up to leave. Already found, item 24 Sch 1 unfair terms, signage is substandard and does not conform to BPA, Fraud by false representation and abuse of position. Thanks in advance. I know I'm a nuisance but I don't want other people barracked like I was.
  21. I thought I was good at maths but can anyone explain this to me? I have just 1 year and 4 months left on my mortgage. The mortgage rate has just reduced by 0.25% thus my mortgage rate has also reduced fro 3.75% to 3.50%. My repayments were £357.62 a month but have INCREASED to £378.10. That about 6% INCREASE per month. The mortgage company put a note with their letter saying the increase is because I am near the end of the mortgage term but I really do not understand that. If the rate has gone down surely the repayments should go down too. Can anyone explain this to me please? #confused.
  22. Can someone explain me why on Experian I am only 73 points to have Excellent (at the moment i am good) AND on Equifax - very poor!!!I have the same info on both files, all correct, no late payments, no CCJ, correct addresses, register to Electoral more than 2 years . I cant understand the logic !!! I want do remortgage and at the moment I don't know what to do . The difference its ridiculous, any ideas why??
  23. Just a quick question. Just done a credit search with Noodle hoping to find information dating back to the year 2000. I can't find any information earlier than 2009. I was hoping it would show me who I had loans with so I could claim back PPI. Any advice please, thanks in advance.
  24. In a few threads it has been stated that the EA does not have to show a warrant or copy of It would save a lot of problems if they presented either of the above why do they not need this?
  25. Hi, As part of a house renovation I had to have a sprinkler installed in my house to comply with Building Regs. I contracted a sprinkler company to do this in June 2015. They told me it would be installed as I neared the end of my renovation so it was done on the 30th November 2015. Unfortunately the following morning after the installation I came into the house (we are not living on site) to find water on my kitchen floor (their pipe connection to the mains water was under my kitchen sink) and in half of my living room (open plan room). I immediately contacted the sprinkler company but since that event they have not been responding to my e-mails or phone call bar one e-mail to say that they do not accepting liability for the cost of damages. I issued a claim against them via he MCOL on the 5th February 2016 for £4.5k. Their deadline to reply was the 24th February 2016. I did not hear from them. I e-mailed the court after this date to see if they had received a response and they replied to say no response had been received. On the 8th March 2016 I called the court about what to do and they told me that I could enter a judgment against them. After the call I completed the form to enter judgment and it was issued on the 9th March 2016. Yesterday, 11th March 2016, I received an e-mail from their solicitor with the below: "Please find attached a copy, by way of service, of the Acknowledgment of Service that we have today filed at the County Court Business Centre. So that we take full instructions from our insured and insurer clients please confirm whether you are agreeable to our client having an extension to file and serve their Defence to your claim. In accordance with the Civil Procedure Rules, t he parties are permitted to agree an additional 28 days for service of a Defence without the Court's permission. Please confirm whether you can agree to our client serving their Defence by 4pm on 5th April so that we may notify the Court accordingly." Can anyone explain what this letter means? If Judgment has already been issued then what is this letter for and why would I want to give them an extension to file a Defence when they should have submitted or acknowledged the claim when it was first issued to them? Any views and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
