  1. Hi, I am in receipt of Employment Support Allowance and I would like to run a small not for profit community project, which I would like to register as a Community Interest Company (CIC) and would volunteer running it part time ( a couple of hours per week). I understand if I’m in receipt of ESA I am allowed to do some ‘permitted work’, and that specifically includes volunteering for a CIC company. However, I cannot find any information whether you can or cannot register your own CIC and volunteer for your own CIC while in receipt of ESA. If anyone has any information on this, I’d be most grateful. x
  2. I have to start at 9am and end at 5pm, but the bus doesn't arrive near the shop til 9..46am and last bus is around 4pm. I have never been to this town before, and don't know the bus routes. I have been suffering from travel sickness and have been to the doctor about my diareah(sorry, but the doctor said that was normal to go to the bathroom every few minutes). I have an appointment on Monday to pick up travel money and have to be there by 2pm. From March to June of this year I was volunteering at a charity in my home town. I am wondering if I should apply to a charity shop in town? But this woman (who was dressed like she was going out to a party) said that SEETEC only ran a few shops. Can I refuse this placement due to it being in a part of the county where I've never been? There is no way I am able to get to the placement in time, I'll be late. And according to the letter if I am late it can effect my benefits.
  3. I am just in the process of starting some volunteer work (done 2 hours so far which did not go so good for certain reasons but i have a new date and time to try again in a couple of weeks) anyway i phoned ESA and asked for a form and i just wanted to find out if the 1 i received is the correct form as it doesn't actually mention volunteering on it just work and permitted work. on a second note i receive DLA do i need to inform them of this and get a form also?
  4. hi i wanted to ask a question. i hear its a matter of time before our jsa coaches will tell us we have to either sign on every day or do 35 hours voluntery work. i noticed the jsa adviser next to me was telling someone they had to do one or the other but my adviser not mention it to me yet so my question is if i find my own volunteer placement will i then be okay or will the jobcenter just force me to do more hours and if i sign on every day will they pay my fares. i really do not believe in working over 30 hours for nothing. the jobcenter used to say you could olny volunteer for 21 hours a week
  5. I signed on this morning and my advicer gived me a leaflet about payments been sent early but don't understand when my payments will go in my bank and just wondering if anyone know from this: Expected Issue date Payment for Period Ending 15/03/2013 15/03/2013 27/03/2013 29/03/2013 12/04/2013 12/04/2013 I know the top one as I signed on today and it will go in my bank on the 20th (on wednesday) But when will the 27th go in? is it on the 29th it will go in my bank or the 3rd? 6. Hi I am claiming JSA and interest help with my mortgage. My GP has signed me off for a month today (I am due to sign on Thursday). This is my second certificate this year (for the same health issues). Do I send the sick note to my local JC, also will the help with my mortgage continue. I expect there might be a delay as I change from one to the other. Pretty scared really, as I am waiting ECG tests, and just had my meds upped for depression. GP was very nice and understanding, not sure the DWP will be, reading what some of you folks face it all sounds horrible. Any help much thanked Lily
  7. My company is embarking on a program of redundancies as a cost saving measure. We are currently coming to the end of 'collective consultation'. We asked the question "Is there a voluntary redundancy programme?" the answer was that there is no official program, but you can put yourself forward and the company would consider it. The cuts are drastic (about 70%). Some people would prefer to be made redundant. I am considering putting myself forward but I am not really sure what the risks are? Where does that leave me afterwards, if I am declined? i.e. once I 'show my cards' as it were? Collective consultation ends quite soon and then I guess we will find out who has been 'put at risk'. If I am NOT selected, perhaps that would be the best time to put myself forward? Or is there any downsides of leaving it until after collective consultation? Would be grateful of any advice esp. if there are risks I am overlooking. I have been through redundancy programs (and survived) several times before, but I have never wanted to leave before. Thanks.
