  1. I hope I'm posting this in right place. I hope some one can give me some advice. I work in a small hotel. I'm the Head Chef. We have 2 other chefs working in the kitchen. One of the chefs is known to be very lazy. Likes to take time off saying he is ill when isn't, spends more time playing on phone than working etc. Earlyer this week on the Tuesday I was working with him and he started going on about how he had just got a new xbox and the new call of duty game that had just come out. He started moaning that his friends were already much higher level than him and that he need to catch up. He had his days off Wednesday and Thursday and Friday morning we hear from him and he has apparently been to doctors and been signed off works for 2 weeks due to stress. He is not stressed, he is only 25, is not married and has no children. He has only just come back off holiday a week ago. I'm sure he has lied to Dr to get time off to play his new video game. He has been playing his new call of duty game for nearly 80 hours straight. And is still online playing at 3am. Would some one who is under that much stress that they can't work be able to play videos games non stop. I am really angry, I have young children and my youngest son is very poorly. He has hospital appointments next week and weeks after. I had booked days off for both weeks, over a month ago. So I could look after my other children whilst my wife takes our youngest to hospital. These hospital appointments are very important. And include Nurosurgery appointments and appointments at eye hospital. We have no family to ask for help, and no friends so my wife relies on me to help. A lot of the hospital appointments are over 3 hours away at specialist hospitals, and a lot they require that my youngest son is bought alone, so it's not possible for my wife to take are other children with her. We are going to have to cancel all appointments as I have now got to cover for this other chef and will have no days off next week or the week after. Its so wrong that he gets to sit at home playing stupid video games and still gets paid whilst I'm left having to pick up the pieces covering for him working my self in to the ground and it will effect my children as they will not see me, and expecially my youngest as he won't get to his hospital appointments. I also feel sorry for my boss as she is a old lady in her 80s and I feel he is taking advantage of her, he lies to her and she believes him. I don't like to see him walking all over her, he laughs at her behind her back. She ended up in a simular situation with a different employee many years ago and she did sack them but then end up being sued for apparent unfair dismissal. Although that situation sorted its self out she is afraid to do any thing or sack any one else. Is there any thing I can do about this chef, how can I get my boss to see what he really is like. I have physical evidence to back up my claims that he wanted time off to play call of duty. Is it worth me mentioning to my boss. Surely as Head chef I should have a say in who works in kitchen. I don't want some one lazy, I want some one hard working who I can trust and who is reliable. If my boss will listen what should be her first step to dealing with this so she doesn't end up in same situation as last time. Any advice would be much appreciated If you wondering why I'm awake posting this at 3.50am is because a neighbours parrot escaped and is sitting in a tree out side my window sqauking like crazy so cant sleep. Thanks in advance.
  2. Just a question, does anyone know if any company that conducts pre-interviews by webcam or skype before offering a formal interview? I have never heard of this before.
  3. Hi All just a general enquiry I was recently travelling back home, when I spoted someone holding what I think was a Hand held speed camera and can only guess it was a video type. The guy holding it was not the police but had some writing on the back of his hi viz Yellow background black writing Has anyone seen these before ? and as it was not a police officer, is it likely that a fine with come through the post at some point if they were speeding?
  4. Hello and thank you, A friend has been summonsed in a private prosecution regarding a 'grossly offensive' comedy song posted on a political youtube channel. The defendant claims it is a vexatious litigation by political opponents. What is her best strategy for defence? She did not send this video to the complainant or address it to the group they represent, they sought it out and chose to bring a private prosecution because they don't like the message.
  5. I am mightily confused. I have been signing on for 12 months, at the start of my claim I signed a claimant commitment stating I will do X number of steps each week to find work, IE look in papers, ask family and friends, use UJM etc. I completed my job search online and always filled in my activity history on UJM, ensuring I recorded X number of steps as required in my claimant commitment. Part way through the year I was told not to use UJM instead I was given a paper template to fill that stated I must do 35 hours job search per week, this had a section to fill stating the time each task took. Some time later I was issued with a pie chart diagram which showed different activities I could include in my 35 hour job search. Now I have been given another paper template form which states I have to apply for and record 10 vacancies jobs per week. What the heck as happened to my claimant commitment, no where in that did I agree to a 35 hour week job search nor did it state when I signed it that it was a requirement. Secondly, I would never agree to applying for X amount of vacancies per week , what if the only suitable vacancies are ones I have already applied for. And now they have just reissued me a new claimant commitment to sign which is basically same as my old one except they have added “ engage with the work program” Can they enforce this 10 job application rule and what is in place to prevent me from just jotting down bogus applications. Obviously I am fulfilling my claimant commitment still but as there is no actual way to record that activity any more am I even obligated to carry it out. From what I can gather the 35 hour per week is only a suggestion and not enforceable as long as client shows they have took reasonable steps they cannot be sanctioned but I cannot find any info at all regarding the 10 vacancies per week.
  6. Hi techies. Where I live (sheltered accommodation) our scheme manager decorates the entire complex and I have take a video of it however the voice over I did makes me sound like an imbecile talking to 5 year olds. I want to remove the audio, add christmas music and add text instead of the voice over. I tried Wondershare but that left a watermark on it (I didn't read all the blurb) so Can anyone recommend a decent video editor that is reasonably cheap that can help an idiot do it (ME) Ta muchly!
  7. Ive just been bombarded with inertia selling offers from Amazon - they must be desperate. £72 pa or £1.38pw Its not so much the money as the waste of time its going to expose me to. I already instinctively discount 99.9% Hollywood drivel (although fair play to HBO, they have produced some great stuff I looked through the available movies, and out of 650 I would only watch Sounds like the kind of video pollution I want to keep out of my life, like most of the rubbish on live TV I am appalled at the effect this must have on young minds:mad2:
  8. Hi everyone, Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can give. My parents (both OAPs) have just received a PCN out of the blue for supposedly taking an illegal right turn on a town centre road. There are actually zero right turns on the street in question, so the only thing that could have happened (although they cannot remember it) is that they made a u-turn using a supermarket loading bay situated on the right of the road. There is a photograph enclosed that only shows the car driving down the street, (it could be on any street, in any town, judging by the photo!), so naturally we went online to check the supporting video footage that this photograph was supposedly from, only to find that the photo is the only evidence included on the page. The main question here is what should they do now? It is impossible to speak with a human on the telephone, but they do not want to pay a fine without seeing the video of the incident actually happening. Is there a particular contact they should make to request the footage or should they challenge the PCN? Obviously, they worry that if they take too long or challenge and fail, the fine will double. Thanks guys!

  10. I bought one of these cameras. http://cycliq.com/product/fly6 It arrived last week. It took only three days to arrive all the way from Australia and somehow managed to escape the notice of customs so there was no duty to pay. It certainly a bit on the pricey side – but in the last four years I have had two occasions where I have been riding in a narrow road and have been hooted by impatient drivers and eventually deliberately rear-ended by them. One of them was a taxi driver who reversed away when I got my phone out and try to take his picture. The second one was a driving instructor who then went on to threaten to hit me and laughed when I tried to call the police. The police arrived and refused to do anything and then simply had a chat and shared cigarettes with the driving instructor. This was in Paris by the way. It is these experiences which eventually prompted me to splash out on this rear facing camera because if this kind of thing ever happens to me again, I intend to make very serious trouble. The unit is like a large standard light. It is fairly heavy. The camera lens does not draw very much attention and no one that I regularly ride with has yet realised what it is. Although the unit itself is quite sophisticated, I would say that the firmware that comes with it is rather lumpy and there seem to be anomalies which are a bit of a nuisance although they don't interrupt the functionality of the light or the camera. For instance, my unit doesn't beep as it should do in order to signify the level of battery charge and also, the charging light doesn't always come on even though it is charging. Another example of rudimentary implementation is that in order to set the time and date on the camera, you have to access file in its root directory and edit a config.txt file. Still, once all that is done then it seems to work excellently. The video quality is extremely good and it overlays the time and date on top of the video image. Customer service from Fly6 – Cycliq – is extremely good so far as they respond well and in a very detailed fashion to my queries. They also don't seem to be too defensive about admitting that there might be a glitch in the firmware. This is refreshingly honest and it gives me confidence. The unit comes with two mounting kits so you are able to have mounting brackets on two bicycles. I would certainly recommend this item – although as I have said, it is sold at a fairly luxury price. However, it seems to be the only thing of its type on the market. Maybe if they start selling volume or if they get some competition, then the price will go down. I understand that they will be doing a front facing camera and that it will be available in February. I think that I am likely to get one.

  13. This is a strange one I admit but...... Back in mid 2010 I was working for a company called ( http://www.theprintspace.co.uk/online-framing-options.php) see video. In July of that year (after very difficult working conditions) I gave notice to quit. In the weeks following , while still under contract I was told to help in the making of another promo, it was late in the production process that I was asked to change the company name from "The Print Space" to " London Picture Framing" (http://londonpictureframing.co.uk/ ). For a number of reasons I just wanted to get out of there with as little hassle as poss. So I did what I was told to say. Anyway 3 years on I find that this footage has now found it's way onto The Printspaces sister site. I have never been employed buy a company called London picture framing so I was wondering what I could do to have this video taken down or at least have my mug taken out of the video? With my departure from the company could it also be argued that the reference to "20 years experience" like the video is misleading because it was only my status within the company could justify this statement. As I am still in the framing industry, could there be any other grounds for me to object to this video especially as there was never any release form or permission given by me for this second video nasty!
  14. Hi i have taken out a purchase agreement with perfect homes / Temple Finance and have been paying £25 a week EVERY week since june 2012 for 2 sofas. i have been very unwell and missed 3 weeks payments, 1st note through the door on the 1st week i missed. But i have just had a visit from someone from perfect homes at my door requesting goods or payment. I tried to get the rest of the remaining balance from the store but they couldn't tell me "i had to write to the head office" So i dont know how much is left! i told the lady at the door i had requested this info and cant afford to pay the weekly rate, she started by calling me childish, and said she can get police presence, and they can enter anyway to collect. i told her too and i'll film it she said, and i quote "f*cking go ahead" and laughed. So i gave her a letter saying i remove all rights of access to my property from anyone from perfect homes or temple finance under common law. So she walked away sat in her van on her phone and started to point at me laughing hmmmmm From this point I will VIDEO everything being said at my door from these loons and post it on youtube, no dout it should make for some good viewing when i confront them with the law and challenge them on any bullying tactics and false statements. ANY questions ppl need asking while i'm filming? as i know many people have troubles with them. Watch this space Richie EDIT LETTER I GAVE TO THE LADY
  15. I want to upload a video to an iPod Touch. I have done this before without any problems. But something is not right. I have converted the video to iPod format, and have put it on iTunes successfully. When I plug the iPod in to sync it, it only puts the audio files on the iPod, not the video files. Any clues???
  16. I hope people will find this useful and this as well hope its helpful to people
  17. I'm going through a tribunal at the moment for disability discrimination and harassment. I am off work due to various health problems. I have this morning found out that my employer's solicitor claims to have video evidence but has so far failed to disclose it. My solicitor has applied for a disclosure order. I know for a fact there is no video evidence from my workplace and in any case, if there was it would support my claim. I feel this evidence has to have been obtained covertly of me at home or shopping as these are the only places I go with the exception of the doctors and the hospital. I have struggled to find useful info about the law regarding employers doing this. Does anyone know about this or have any resources which may be useful?
