Daughter moved into student rental on 1 sept 2017 had set up her own energy supply on a dual fuel deal at a great price with scottish power take over date was 12 sept. on 2nd sept before it was taken over by sp from british gas and sse, a company called Snowdrop energy hijacked it and took it over. problem is now when snowdrop return gas/elec to british gas and sse who will have to put her on standard rate which is way more than she would have been paying with her new supplier scottish power. Can she get compensation from somewhere for the price difference and the stress/calls etc that have had to be made?

Has anyone else experienced a problem with international transfer security questions? it looks to me as if the call centre in India is making up they own questions without reference to the actual customer. The information is not coming from the customer - it appears to be gleaned from credit databases I would question the legality of the this. It also makes it nigh-on impossible to get the security questions right - especially as the information they have is INCORRECT.

Does anyone make regular payments to overseas relatives using the MoneyGram On-Line service? If, like me, you do then you may not be aware that for every transaction that goes from the UK via their clearance agency in Ireland, MoneyGram first puts through a transaction for £1.37 presumably to 'validate' the debit/credit card being used. If this transaction is cleared by the card operator, the actual transaction is then put forward for clearance. Six times in the last three months I have had transactions blocked by the card operator who sees the sequence as a possible fraud operation. Apparently, there is nothing to indicate that the £1.37 is a 'test' transaction and as such it then sits in your card account waiting for MoneyGram to claim it - after 10 days it is cancelled by the card operator. Why £1.37 ? No idea. UK mail order companies sometimes use the same procedure, but with an amount of one penny. The process makes a mockery of their 'money in 10 minutes' claim since it can often take a couple of hours to get the transfer cleared. I emailed a complaint that wasn't answered and I have now put my complaint in writing to them. I'll let you know the outcome. Luckysandpiper

Hi, apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong section but I couldn't find a section that seemed to deal with my queries, although I'm sure there probably is one. I am going through some unsavoury legal action with a family member who abused their role as POA with my grandparents. Money that should have been used for their benefit was systematically removed from their bank accounts. I have discovered this when going through probate. Some of these amounts I have managed to trace, but there is one particularly large money transfer that was moved abroad 7 years ago of which the bank say they will no longer have records for as they are not legally required to hold them for longer than 6 years. I appreciate this may well be the case, but surely there must be some records somewhere! Lloyds don't seem to be able to point me in the right direction and just apologise that they don't have them, but there must be some precedent for this type of thing when suspected fraud and misdirection have been involved? Can anybody advise me on any suggestions? Many thanks Jem
