  1. Hi - I received a parking ticket that wasn't paid, and one thing led to another - it went to Task Enforcement, who sent a letter telling me I needed to pay. I called to ask if i could pay in instalments, they said i need to pay it all - so said I would pay by the end of October. As it happens, my work had an issue with their PAYE, and it didn't go through on time, and I didn't pay - my fault entirely. I thought they'd send me a reminder, and forgot about it. QI received nothing from Task - until a phone call from my wife to say my car had been clamped, on Friday morning. I was then told because it was a broken arrangement, they didnt need to send me any further letters, they can come straight away, and demand full payment, plus bailiff costs. The charge was £75 Compliance, and £235 Enforcement, plus the initial ticket. The other thing to add is my wife is 9 months pregnant - and she uses that car. It is registered to me though. Question 1 - can they come with no warning for a broken arrangement? I didnt even think about breaking it - just one of those delaying tactics i guess, and you expect a reminder letter first. Question 2- can they charge for compliance and enforcement without visiting my house or dropping another letter - and go straight to charge both upon clamping my car? Question 3 - does the fact my wife is pregnant change the charge they can levy? I have obviously paid this, but would like some money back if i can! Thanks, Jude
  2. Hi my daughter was just leaving the house for work, opened the door to go out and a task enforcement bailiff stepped his foot inside the door blocking her exit. She told him to remove his foot but he wouldn't. He was collecting a debt for £826 for a vehicle that was registered fraudulently in my name which she explained to him. She called the police who were no help. He refused to budge until he was paid. Reluctantly we paid up for a fine that wasnt mine but the police said if we can prove it we can get a full refund. I been in contact with the DVLA relentlessly until they sent an apology letter removing me from their records for this vehicle. I have written to TE and they are investigating. really frustrated right now as it has keft me out of pocket and in rent arrears. Maz

  4. I have just received a letter from a company called Task Enforcement ltd, saying I owe them £187 for a parking fine I received last August. The £187 is broken down into £112 debt, £75 collection fees which seem ridiculous since all they have done is send a letter. I never paid the fine, as when I was sent the details of it, I appealed it (as only my rear wheel was on the yellow lines, car was 80% in a parking space, for no more than 20 mins). I never heard back from the council, and just assumed that it was accepted. Now I have been sent this saying if I do not pay by 22/03/15 they will send bailiffs round to seize my belongings?! I am a bit unsure what to do with this, as I want to try and resolve this with the council, but the threat of bailiffs coming round gives me next to no time to do anything. I cannot really afford to pay the fine, however, if I have to, I would rather pay the council directly and cut out this company and their ridiculous fees. Any help or advice on how I could go about doing that would be greatly appreciated.
  5. Computer maker Lenovo has been forced to remove hidden adware that it was shipping on its laptops and PCs after users expressed anger. The adware - dubbed Superfish - was potentially compromising their security, said experts. The hidden software was also injecting adverts on to browsers using techniques more akin to malware, they added. Lenovo faces questions about why and for how long it was pre-installed on machines - and what data was collected. The company told the BBC in a statement: "Lenovo removed Superfish from the preloads of new consumer systems in January 2015. At the same time Superfish disabled existing Lenovo machines in the market from activating Superfish. Complaining "Superfish was preloaded on to a select number of consumer models only. Lenovo is thoroughly investigating all and any new concerns raised regarding Superfish." Users began complaining about Superfish in Lenovo's forums in the autumn, and the firm told the BBC that it was shipped "in a short window from October to December to help customers potentially discover interesting products while shopping". User feedback, it acknowledged, "was not positive". Last month, forum administrator Mark Hopkins told users that "due to some issues (browser pop up behaviour, for example)", the company had "temporarily removed Superfish from our consumer systems until such time as Superfish is able to provide a software build that addresses these issues". He added it had requested that Superfish issue an auto-update for "units already in market". Superfish was designed to help users find products by visually analysing images on the web to find the cheapest ones. Such adware is widely regarded in the industry as a form of malware because of the way it interacts with a person's laptop or PC. Security expert from Surrey University Prof Alan Woodward said: "It is annoying. It is not acceptable. It pops up adverts that you never asked for. It is like Google on steroids. "This bit of software is particularly naughty. People have shown that it can basically intercept everything and it could be really misused." According to security experts, it appears that Lenovo had given Superfish permission to issue its own certificates, allowing it to collect data over secure web connections, known in malware parlance as a man-in-the-middle attack. "If someone went to, say, the Bank of America then Superfish would issue its own certificate pretending to be the Bank of America and intercept whatever you are sending back and forth," said Prof Woodward. Ken Westin, senior analyst at security company Tripwire, agreed: "If the findings are true and Lenovo is installing their own self-signed certificates, they have not only betrayed their customers' trust, but also put them at increased risk." Clean install Although Lenovo has said that it has removed Superfish from new machines and disabled it from others, it was unclear what the situation would be for machines where it had already been activated. Prof Woodward said: "Lenovo is being very coy about this but it needs to explain how long it has been doing this, what the scale is and where all the data it has collected is being stored. "There will be remnants of it left on machines and Lenovo does not ship the disks that allow people to do a clean install." It raises wider questions about the deals that computer manufacturers do with third parties and the amount of software that comes pre-installed on machines. Mr Westin said: "With increasingly security and privacy-conscious buyers, laptop and mobile phone manufacturers may well be doing themselves a disservice by seeking outdated advertising based monetisation strategies." Users were particularly angry that they had not been told about the adware. One Lenovo forum user said: "It's not like they stuck it on the flier saying... we install adware on our computers so we can profit from our customers by using hidden software. "However, I now know this. I now will not buy any Lenovo laptop again." The problem also caused a storm on Twitter, where both Lenovo and Superfish were among the most popular discussion topics.
  6. can someone please help on the 25th march I received a enforcement order saying I owed £140 for a parking ticket in the LB Lewisham I have no knowledge of this parking fine so I wrote to task enforcement and LB Lewisham. I received a letter back from task saying the parking ticket was for LB Barnet and not LB Lewisham and I needed to pay it by 21 November 2013 even thou the letter they wrote back was march 2014 I called LB Lewisham who told me to speak to task. i called task who Informed me the systems was down till 8th April and could not check their systems till after this date and to call back then. on the 8th April at 8.30am task enforcement attended my property and informed me I had to pay £420 pound now or they would remove my car. I called task enforcement who said as the bailiff was at my door I would have to deal with the bailiff I said you told me to call back to today about ticket but they said ill have to deal with bailiff. the bailiff gave me no option but to pay or he would remove my car. how can this be right when they told me to different councils parking fine was for and wrong date on letter. what do I do now how do I gat my money back.
  7. Evening, I'm hoping that someone may be able to give me some advice please. Whilst I was at work today a Task Enforcement 'bailiff' came to my house & when my wife answered the door put his foot on the threshold & then, when my wife tried to push the door shut, pushed it - and her - back into the hallway and stepped into the house claiming that he had gained peaceful entry. My wife called me to say what was happening, I dialled 999, explained what was happening & asked for the Police to attend - which they did very quickly. When I arrived at home about 30 minutes after my wife's phone call, the Police were outside with the bailiff & another officer was with my wife to take down her side of the situation. The officers were reasonable, polite & sympathetic but stated that as the 'bailiff' had entered the house they were powerless to prevent him coming back in & seizing goods. I have no complaints towards the officers nor do I dispute that there MAY be a PCN due to TfL (the notice was served on me as a Director of a Limited Company and the signatory to the lease agreement for the vehicle that incurred the PCN & I'm disputing my obligation to pay now that the Company has been wound up) but my issue is more with a) the conduct of the bailiff & the way he gained entry to the house and b) the fact that he had NO documentation or identification that proved that he was a bailiff and not an unlicensed heavy - when I challenged him on this (in front of the Police officer) he claimed that he'd "had it ten minutes ago" and that he "must have dropped it entering or leaving the property" - I don't believe him & neither did the Police officer so my question is: How do I check whether this individual is a certified bailiff? Is what he did acceptable practice? What redress do I have & how can I prevent him returning to the property when my wife & I are out to seize goods? Any and all advice would be gratefully received as my wife doesn't want to leave the house & is terrified that this man will return when she and the kids are in bed. Thanks
  8. Hi there, On the 23rd of May I stepped out of the shower and heard my letter box close, I ran to my bedroom window to see if I had missed a delivery and saw a man getting into his van. I thought it was odd as I can usually hear the doorbell, (i have a small child so i shower with the door open). I opened the window and asked if I had missed a delivery and he said no and got into his vehicle. on arriving downstairs I found a Final Notice from task enforcement for a traffic for London contravention. Now I do not wish to mislead you, I parked in the wrong place and ignored the letters I received. I am not trying to wriggle out of the ticket. I had no idea it had been passed on to bailiffs and from £215.44 it had gone up to 493.52 Six days later I woke up and came downstairs and found a letter again on the floor, no knocking, no doorbell. the amount had gone up £641.11 according to the letter. I then phoned the bailiff to ask how he can claim to be recovering a debt when he doesn't even knock on my door and was told that he didn't legally need to knock, that just like a postman he was delivering his message. I then called tasks offices and asked if this was true they could not verify. I then asked for a breakdown of fees as I was supposedly sent a letter out by them which I never received. Task then sent me out a letter with breakdown of their fees. Case received 26/04/13 £202 0.00 pre - enforcement letter 26/04/2013 £11.20 2.24 1st visit 23/05/2013 £56.73 11.35 Attendance 23/05/2013 £175.00 35.00 2nd visit 29/05/2013 £59.85 11.97 totals 504.78 60.56 565.34 Now this does not tally up with what was put through my door on the two visits, 23/05 being £495.32 and 29/05 being £641.11 Also i am concerned about this large attendance charge; as I believe that to mean he attended to remove goods, how could this be the case if he did not even ring the bell. I called the office today and asked what notes where on the system with regards to the call on the 29th and they read back my complaint about him not ringing the bell, so at least they are aware there was an issue before I received their breakdown dated 30/05/13. I guess what I want to know is where do I go from here and are his actions legal? Thanks Tia
  9. I was awakened at 7am this morning by my 9 year old son saying that someone is trying to break down the front door. I ran downstairs and heard someone bashing the door, not knocking, hitting it as hard as they could. I opened the door and it was two people showing me id cards like they were some sort of law enforcement. It turned out the were two bailiffs from Task Enforcement. One of the bailiffs put his foot in my door. I asked him to remove his foot and he said he would not. I asked him again and he still refused to do it. I asked them the reason they were at my house, as I have no reason to have them here. They said they had come to seize goods due to an unpaid congestion charge relating to a vehicle. I explained that the vehicle was not mine and the company name that it was registered under was nothing to do with me. I recognised the name of the company as a friend of mine and I told them that it was him and that he must of used my address without telling me to register his car. They did not believe me and I walked away to get my drivers licence to prove who I was. I said to the to please wait outside the door and I will go get it, when I came back, they had walked into my house and refused to leave. I asked them to leave but they would not. I will add that I have a 9 year old son and a 16 year old son, and a 4 year old daughter with leukemia. The childrens mother had passed away from leukemia and I am a single father. Their intimidating behavior and unwillingness to listen to reason and acknowledge that this had nothing to do with me was scaring my children and my 9 year old son was shaking with fear and crying. I asked them once again to leave the property as I did not invite them in, and they refused. I then called the friend whom I believed had done this, and he answered his phone, I told him they were here and the reason, and he spoke to them on the phone, he confirmed that it was his vehicle, he knew about the fine, he offered to pay and that he was the one responsible and that he had not told me he had registered his car at my address. he also explained that he was declared bankrupt in September last year. They still refused to leave, they refused to talk to him anymore, they said that if I did not pay them £781.34 they will start removing goods from my property. I explained that none of the goods in my house are my friends and that the car was not mine and they acknowledged that but still insisted on making me pay. I called the police and they eventually arrived but they were no help at all. I explained the whole thing to them, they even spoke to my friend on the phone again and they still said that they can do nothing and that the bailiffs can take goods. The female police officer had to console my 9 year son who was so afraid by the two intimidating bailiffs. While we were waiting for the police to arrive, one of the bailiffs picked up my sons baseball bat that we have in a box near the door, as he plays baseball, and the bailiff was swinging it around. I asked him to put it down. Through the entire episode, the two bailiffs were talking loudly, very unreasonable and acting as if they had all the power in the world. I explained my family situation and what my children had been through, but they did not care at all. One of the bailiffs was incredibly intimidating and I have since found his name all over the internet attached to similar situations. I eventually had to call a friend of mine to come and pay the £781.34 for me so that I could get them out of my house, as my children had now missed school as they were too afraid to leave the house and I could not drop my 9 year old son off at school and subsequently was physically sick and too unwell to go to school. After all my children had been through in their lives they did not need this. When they eventually left, I called the DVLA to have my address removed from the registration of the vehicle and they are doing it and sending me a confirmation letter. There was a lot more that happened with these two bailiffs, but I wont make this a long thread, the basic message is, what action can I take against this company and the situation. This had NOTHING to do with me and I proved it, but the still took £781.34 which we do not have due to me not working full time due to my daughters illness and regular visits to the hospital for chemotherapy. Thank you for reading and would welcome any advice. Thank you
  10. Very useful information provided on this forum and from what I can gather I, or more specifically in this case my mother, has been overcharged thanks to bully tactics from the Task Enforcement bailiffs. I want to try and clarify some details that are specific to this situation so I can proceed in the best and most efficient manner. I was sent a PCN by Lambeth council for entering a bus lane whilst on my motorcycle. At the time I was unaware of the different access rules for motorbikes in bus lanes and after trying to challenge it then realised I was in the wrong and the fine had risen from it's original £60 to £120. Stupidly I didn't pay this off at the time and the next I heard of it was Task Enforcement sending me a notice to pay something in the region of £215. I got worried at the time partly because I didn't have that amount of money but spoke to a member of their staff over the phone and paid half the amount owed which was still a stretch at the time - bringing the owed amount to £107.50. Then, a month later, I paid an additional £27.50 bringing the owed amount to £80. In this time I have been staying increasingly @ my girlfriends house and work schedule went a bit mental so I, again very stupidly forgot to pay off the final £80. Day before yesterday bailiffs arrived at my parents house at 7.50am. My mother answered the door and immediately took the warrant off them but closed the front door - going into the kitchen to read it. My 70 year old father then comes to the door having heard the knock belatedly and opens the door. One of the bailiffs then puts his foot in the frame so it can't be closed again. There was then an awkward few moments as my parents couldn't get in contact with me - my mum told them that I no longer lived at that address - they said that that was the registered address so my parents were liable. They argued for a long time and my mum told them that they could take my motorbike which she said was the only possessions belonging to me that were at that address and it was parked outside the front of the house. It is effectively scrap and not MOT'd. They refused saying they wanted payment from my parents to the amount of £413.50. They showed the Warrant of Execution to my parents which showed the original debt decided by the court at £202. When my parents queried the 413.50 figure they said it was for van hire costs and the cost of their labour. My father asked where the van was ... they said around the corner. It escalated - they threatened to call the police, called my mother an awful parent for raising a son that was so irresponsible. My mum wanted to call the police - imagining I suppose that they'd side with a 65 year old mother and 70 year old father but my father wanted to avoid that so gave in and decided to pay. My mother ended up paying for it - my dad didn't have the money - though my mum doesn't exactly have cash to spare. She paid with a Visa Debit card for the full £413.50. They left a receipt for that amount but when my dad asked for a breakdown of the costs they refused to give that saying he had to contact the office. They also left a copy of the original Warrant of Execution. ( I have no memory of receiving anything from the court myself so I'm quite glad that they left this ... hopefully to their detriment). So with the original £135 that I had paid to them as well as the £413.50 we have collectively paid a total of £548.50. I know I've been overcharged but I want to clarify the process I now undertake especially considering that they bullied my mum into paying the amount on my behalf. I would have thought that my parents aren't legally obliged to pay for my debts. Like I said, I know I was stupid in allowing the situation to get like this but for the way they treated my parents and for overcharging me I want to make sure that I resolve the situation fully. Thanks for your help.
  11. This case is quite unusual, but I am determined to make an example of the Bailiff, TASK Enforcement and TfL. They are all [deleted]!!! I am a very resourceful and determined person. I dont give up. I do not have a legal background, hence I am here to seeking advice and guidance so that I can hold these people accountable for their actions in a court room. My anger is not motivated by the loss of my money, but simply by the behavior of these [companies] who manipulate and [seek to obtain money from] people legally. My motivation comes from reading about thousands of people on this forum who ALL have been mishandled in a similar way. Not too long ago, I had 2 bailiffs turn up at my door demanding £373 for a TfL PCN my brother had not paid a year ago. My brother and I share similar names (ask the parents), for arguments sake, my name is Adam John Smith and my brothers name is Joe John Smith. My brother was given a courtesy vehicle from Enterprise Rental when his car went into the garage. He got a PCN from TfL which he disputed for some reason and didn't pay. I told the bailiff that my brother no longer lives at the address and I dont know where he is. The bailiff asked for my name, which I gave, and he said I was the person he was looking for, John Smith. I said "Thats impossible...why would you be looking for me since this has nothing to do with me"....He asked me for my DOB....which I gave....He said that this matched with his records...I asked to be shown this record and warrant....He claimed he was not obliged to show this to me. I then became suspect of whether he had my DOB or not. Where did he get my DOB from? DPA 1998 breach somewhere....or he's lying. I told them to go away, but the second bailiff would not move his foot from my front door. So i called the police. The police arrived an hour later. The bailiff spoke to the officer before they spoke to me which I found extremely annoying since I called for them. The bailiff showed some documentation to the police officer and got them on their side before they spoke to me. The police then heard my story. I told them I am not my brother and if they check the vehicle hire agreement, the drivers license on the agreement would be different from mine. This was not at hand, but surely the bailiff should have this document. This would go to prove I was not my brother. Police was NOT at all helpful in this situation. They actually made it worse it seems. I am making a complaint to the Police about the officer concerned. After 2 hours of arguments, the second bailiff walked into my house and threatened me if I didn't pay. The police did nothing to stop this trespass and watched him do it. I was then forced to pay the debt. The debt then suddenly changed from £373 to £799.34 (Its funny how this figure is exactly the same as another Task Enforcement case in this forum /forum/showthread.php?371939-Bailiffs-Fee-s-I-have-been-ripped-off-what-can-I-do I wrote to TfL looking for a refund of the fees since the debt was not mine. I proved it to them by sending them a copy of my drivers licence. They had a look at the enterprise rental agreement, and confirmed on the phone that I was not the person who hired the vehicle since the DL numbers did not match. I spoke to TASK Enforcement and asked them where they obtained my DOB, the lady on the phone said, there is no DOB information on this case. Did the bailiff make a not of my DOB when he asked me and use this against me? In the "Letter Before Action" to TfL, I asked why the fees went from £373 to £799.34, they responded with a breakdown which included Case Received £202 Letter Fee £13.44 1st Visit £68.08 2nd Visit £71.82 Attendance to Remove £192.08 Aborted Removal £234.00 Payment Surcharge £17.92 What on earth is Attendance to Remove and Aborted Removal. These were dated the same as the 2nd visit date. Are they allowed to charge for card surcharge? On the 1st visit, we told them that my brother does not live here, they went away. Did they not get it the first time..!! TfL refuse to return my money since they now apparently believe I am my brother.... .... I want to recover my money and make this bailiff pay for his lies to me and the police. TfL say that they they believe Task Enforcement has charged within their statutory guidelines. Can anyone verify if this is true? I paid on my VISA card.... TfL say no DPA 1998 breach has occured since the bailiff company use DBs where DOB is given.....I will request to see what information they hold on me. Any tips on how I should proceed with this case would be appreciated. I want to teach all of these people a lesson, and I believe I have a strong case also.
  12. They should start by NDR free periods. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-20104059
  13. Can anyone tell me what is the difference between an ATR (which I think stands for Attend to Retrieve) and a visit? It seems to me to be the same thing although Task Enforcement Ltd want to charge me £175 plus VAT for an ATR and £63.14 plus VAT for a visit, both made at the same time.
