I was caught doing 60 in a 50 in March 2013 and offered a speed awareness course. I completed and returned all the forms accepting to do the course, rather than take penalty points. I then heard nothing more and received no acknowledgment or further info, and rather forgot about it, just assuming there was a long waiting time/back log on the course. On 19 August I receive a court summons for speeding. I called the relevant police department and was told it was my fault for not checking that my speed awareness application had been received and accepted. A letter was apparently sent to me early April telling me i wasn't eligible for the course (even though i'd initially been offered it) and was due 3 points. I NEVER received this. Had i received it I would have responded and just swallowed the points. Feel totally gutted that I'm about to face far higher fine and stress of court having done nothing but cooperate. Any advise out there?

Is it true you have to receive information about a speeding offence within 14 days. I am an hgv agency driver and go all over driving for differant companys. The letter I got was dated the 4th march (got the 7th march) and says was I the driver of a hgv driven on the 11th Dec 2010 in halifax. this is nearly 3 months ago and cant remember been in halfax or been flashed. WHAT SHOULD I DO. I have been told that some companys blame agency drivers for speed tickets rarther than their own drivers, and because of the time scale I cant remember if I was in halifax at that time.

Zapped by GATSO in 40mph zone when Road Angel read 40mph. My Road Angel device recognised the GATSO in the distance and gave me plenty of time to adjust to exactly 40mph yet the camera flashed and now I've got a summons accusing me of travelling at 48mph. The 2 photos showed my car at intervals on the road which can only be correct if a) I was travelling at 48mph which I wasn't, or b) the 2 GATSO flashes were just micro-seconds out. I've appealed this and got a date for a court hearing. I was wondering if anyone has appealed and won on similar grounds.
