  1. I have recently found out that someone has applied for a credit account with JD Williams on my behalf. They had filled in the online application form with my Name, Date of Birth, a random London address and claimed I had just moved there from an address 4 years ago. Now, with every credit application I have ever made, from a Loan or Credit Card to a mobile phone contract, there has always been a process of verification to confirm I am infact living at the address given and who I say I am. These searches show on my credit report as soft searches as they were used to confirm my identity. If I apply for any credit accounts soon after moving, I struggle myself as the verification processes fail until my existing accounts feed the updated info back to the credit reference agencies. My concern with JD Williams and the 12+ other sub sites they operate is that there is no identity check performed and from a search online, a lot of people are having the same issue as me, many more finding out when a debt is passed to a collection agency and the victim is found. I am 100% confident that JD Williams do no due diligence checks prior to processing the Hard Credit Search which adds the new linked address to your report. If they did attempt to check my identity electronically before processing the credit application, it would have failed as I was not known at the address supplied. The concern I have is that a fraudster can easily manipulate someones credit report without needing to verify anything, not even your email address. The company generally offers very high APR rates of 50%+ so I would assume this is targeted at those with bad credit histories and its likely most people are granted credit. I have reported to the FSA & ICO but they suggest that action would only be taken if they receive enough reports. I just feel not enough people are aware of why they were victims of fraud so easily because anyone that knows you personally and where you live, can easily order products on credit under your name and they dont even need to have any communication sent to your actual address.
  2. I've had a search around the forums and haven't found much in this regard, at least not where JD Williams/SimplyBe/Jacamo are concerned. Just a summary - in 2011/12 due to redundancy/ill health I got into some financial difficulties, end result is I have 3 defaults which I'm still contending with, but have repayment plans for and I'm currently trying to resolve/end. Besides these 3 accounts and since 2013 my credit history is perfect (bar the three accounts I mentioned). I worked hard to keep it this way so that when those defaults drop off my file at some point my other history is spot on. Fast forward to the recent couple of weeks when I've been mining my credit report - I noticed JD Williams have lodged a 1 month late mark on my credit file. This is highly aggravating, firstly because I'm normally pretty meticulous with my repayments but somehow this must have slipped my mind somehow (I was pretty poorly around this time, so that might explain it) and also I'm only £30 off clearing the complete balance (and closing the account). I emailed JD Williams for more details and this is the reply I received: To which I've replied: I know 1 late payment isn't the end of the world, but it's definitely bloody annoying. So my question is, has anyone had any success with JD Williams specifically or other catalogues with removing late payments? Especially when your account has always otherwise been 'perfect'. If so, how have you gone about it? Many thanks
  3. Good evening, I have a problem with a Hermes collection which is making me very worried and upset. I arranged for a parcel to be collected, the courier finally turned up and my husband saw the courier collect the parcel but on checking in the safe place there was no card. My parcel hasn't been received by SimplyBe so they made enquires with Hermes who deny there was a driver in the area on the day my parcel was collected. They have advised that I am liable for the value of the goods. What do I do? Is my issue against the courier or SimplyBe? I have read how awful Hermes are with numerous posts of missing parcels, fraudulently signed deliveries. Any helped would be appreciated. Thank you
  4. I need urgent advice please and will appreciate all your comments. I ordered from simplybe around late sep 2008 and paid off the debt in nov 2012. After paying this debt , i realised they have charged me a hoop of interest and placed a default on my credit file without issuing a default notice. I have been corresponding with simplybe since around April 2013 requesting for all interests levied on my account and to removed the default on my file. I requested cca from them and they came back with unsigned cca. Their last letter i received today states that they have accepted that there was no signed agreement. They said even if there was no signed agreement, they could have applied for enforceability order from court if the debt had not been paid off and since the debt had been paid off, they will not be doing anything about this. Also they said they (catalougues) are not require to issue default notices before registering default on credit file. Are they right about this ?
  5. Hi, I have a debt with Simplybe which I have been paying every month at £100. The make a payment section is now missing from their website (which is odd). If it is not a temporary glitch, does anyone know their bank details so that I can pay them? I hate speaking to customer services. Thank you for your help in advance. xx
