  1. Hi all, I hope someone can help me with the following issue jan 2017 I purchased a BMW X5 from cooper Durham, before purchasing the vehicle I was sent a video of the car. The on screen display showed 37000 miles for the front brake pads as they were new. Last week I took my car for an MOT to Sytner BMW Coventry they said the front pads and discs need replacing as they are 3.5mm. I was pretty surprised as i would expect them to last longer as I had done under 6000 miles. Cooper Durham want to inspect the car as they think there must be an issue. I'm around 200 miles away from them. Sytner BMW Coventry are saying there's no issue and its just worn I still have around a week warrantly left in the car but the pads and discs are not covered as part of that. I'm trying to get Cooper Durham to replace the parts as they should not have worn out in 6000 miles but they are not going to do it until they inspect it in Durham Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
  2. Hi all, Around 18 months ago I brought a used car from 'Bristol Street Motors' on finance. The car is a 62 plate Peugeot 208 currently at 43k miles and is currently financed for a total of 4 years. A few weeks ago I noticed a blowing noise coming from the car - so took it to a local garage to have it checked out they pointed out that the catalytic converter had split and after looking up the part it was around £800+ fitting. After doing a bit of research and found that most sites saying the earliest one of these should need replacing at is 10 years / 50,000 miles. I rang Peugeot customer care and got told to take it to a main dealer garage and get them to inspect the car and tell them exactly what is wrong obviously they agreed with the local dealer about the catalytic converter needing replacing and quoted a similar price of £920~ all in to get the part replaced. T hey rang Peugeot customer care back and they offered a measly 25% 'good will' gesture towards getting the car fixed. Only having the car 18 months I feel pretty annoyed that I'm facing a £700+ bill to get a car fixed that I've done pretty much only 8,000 miles in since purchase. Just wondering if anyone had any advice on how to proceed, many thanks in advance.
  3. my daughter bought an ipad on 18/09/2011 and took out the extra whatever happens cover. around 4 weeks ago my daughter and her friend were messing around and her friend jumped off her bed ontp my daughters handbag which had the ipad in it as she uses it for college. ipad was badly damaged. took to currys and they took a statement of what had happened. we then got a letter back saying that they were not going to replace or repair ipad and that we could appeal the decision. they wanted a letter stating exactly what happened again with a list of everything that was in her handbag. we sent off another letter appealing the decision and yesterday we received a letter saying that they are still refusing to repair or replace. please help. my daughter relies on this for her college course :-x:-x:-x
  4. We are currently looking at replacing our lead supply pipe since all of our floors are up at the moment anyway. From what we can tell, we share a lead supply pipe with 3 other properties (terraced) something like this: x----1-----2-----3----4 Where x is the stopcock and we are property number 3. Neighbor number 4's supply pipe splits off from our property under our living room floor; we think a similar thing happens for properties 1&2 as our supply pipe seems to head off outside as apposed to neighbor number 2's house. Neighbor number four also wishes to replace her lead supply pipe. Ideally we both wish to have our own supply pipe as water pressure is naff, especially when everybody is fighting for water in the mornings! Does anybody have any experience with Yorkshire Water in terms of getting off lead piping and getting a separate supply at the same time? I know they have a scheme where they will replace the lead upto the property boundary if you replace the stuff on your property boundary (that's fine, we're both prepared to dig a trench and lay 25mm MDPE etc). With this being that case, are Yorkshire Water likely to impose additional fees to give us both a separate supply?
  5. Good news for everyone locally in the UK. As of yesterday, the new iTunes (10.5) and iOS (5) was released for the iPhone 4 and above, as well as the iPad and above! If you want to upgrade, feel free to do so by: 1) Upgrade your iTunes to 10.5. This usually happens automatically 2) Once iTunes 10.5 is installed, plug your device in and upgrade as per instructions For those of you who like to tinker with toys, i.e. have jailbroken your phone, this will break the jailbreak, and you'll be returned to the land of the living and have to pay for your apps again Have fun peeps, and RIP Steve Jobs Cheers Adridude
