Hello, I went into store to look at getting the MacBook Air as advertised on their website. I went through all the nitty gritty, such as providing proof of income etc, after going through everything it came back that I was accepted, the weekly payment amount I was giving wasn't enough for a "brand new" Macbook Air, the lady in the store mentioned I could go for a "refurbished" one, I was hesitate about this as you don't know the background of the item. asked her if I could look at it first, she said this would be fine, I would need to wait for it to be delivered to the store, after signing all the paperwork she said she will give me a call on Thursday when it comes into store and I can come and look at it, then if I decide to go ahead with it I will have to wait for it to be delivered by Saturday as apparently since it's my first time they have to deliver it. She said that I could simply cancel the contract there and then and don't have to go ahead with it if let's say I didn't find the condition of the laptop to my standard etc. Now here is where I would like Consumer Action's advice, when I go to check the laptop on Thursday, since the product is "refurbished", could they try and hand me off a different model without me being aware of it? One reason I ask this is because the the cash price for the product shows as £664.51 on the contract, now I've seen these laptops for sale for more than this price online, I've even seen these for sale as refurbished for pretty much around the same price, the total amount of credit altogether is £1015.00, I do feel this is quite reasonable for a company like BrightHouse, taking in the fact I could probably have this paid off well before the 70 weekly payments, so I won't pay nowhere near the £1015.00. Not sure if this is relevant, but on the contract, it's called a APPLE MACBOOK AIR 13IN SI, the SI is bugging me, may be nothing. Any idea?
i work at in a petrol station as a sales assistant, the company is being transfered to a different owner and we are all being transfered under TUPE so are contracts are all being transfered. during this process the site has to be refurbished and the new owner has said that we will not get paid at all while the site is closed for 3 weeks, is this legal??? it dosn't seem right, if someone could help me it would be much appreciated.
My Husband bought me last week a Ipad 3 as a present. It is the top spec model 64gb WiFi 3g. He bought if from PC world/curry's clearance warehouse. It was classed as refurbished. But was in mint as new condition. My husband got it for a good price. over £150 less than if had bought brand new in shop. It was sold with a 6 months warranty, I have had it less than a week and I am already starting to have problems. The Screen yesterday started flickering and stripes down screen. Then screen went black. I had to switch off ipad and switch it back on to get it working. It has not happened again yet but I am concerned that it will. Today I have had problems charging it. I had to un plug and re plug in several times to get it to charge. I am going to contact PC world/curry's clearance ware house about the problems. But question is if they sold it as refurbished and it was repaired before being sold to us. Who would have repaired it. Would it be there people or would they have sent it to apple to be repaired. I was thinking of contacting apple directly concerning the problems. But im concerned that If PC world/ Curry's own people have opened it up to repair that they might have cut through any warranty stickers and voided any warranty with apple. I have typed in my ipad 3 serial number on apples website and it says the ipad has a valid warranty that runs out next March. It also says it is eligible for apple care cover. I had been wanting to take out apple care cover and don't mind paying £69 for 2 years extra cover. But again im concerned that If PC world/Curry's own people have repaired ipad that warranty might be void already and ill be wasting my money. They did not say why it was refurbished they said it could be a ex display, or a un wanted customer return or it could have had a fault. what do you think. Where do I stand regarding my warranty. Should I contact PC world/Curry's or go direct to apple. Will I be safe buying apple care cover. Any advice would be much appreciated thanks in advance
