Hello, I just received my information back from the Royal Bank of Scotland today from a SAR I sent them end of June 2014. One of the requests I made was for my RBoS MasterCard Credit Cards. I received all of my credit card statements from 2004 but they only go as far back as October 2001. I had my credit card from the mid 1990's So I contacted the SAR Team at RBoS Cards Customer Services at Southend-On-Sea (0845 835 5470) I told them I only received my credit card statements but they only went as far back as October 2001. I was also told that they changed their system during that month and year and that was the reason why they only went back that far. They also said it was their Policy that they now no longer hold customer statements from before that time. I asked to see this Policy as I was not satisfied that they had looked further back, but I was told that they would not send me a copy of this policy. I also enquired about microfiche and any other system where they would hold older records but again I was told that ALL old records were put onto the new system or as much of it as can be... Of course I was not happy with their explanantion and I have no intention of being fobbed off that they no longer have a database that does not go further back from Oct 2001. I simply do not believe them that their records of credit card accounts and their statements now all start on October 2001 What can I do now, as I simply believe that I have been fobbed off? I still believe that they have my old pre October 2001 credit card statements. As they have not sent me any information to me showing me how and why my old records have been deleted or destroyed. I would be very appreciative if anyone can give me some guidance on this as I can see on the statements that I do have I was being smashed for "card protection plan" payments ranging from £17 to £27 plus, per month up to 2004! Thank you Wulfen40

Hi, Having recently accessed my credit report I noticed I had 1 late payment for RBOS. When I contacted them I found out my student account which has overdraft had been passed to their collections department and is going to be noted as Default as I had not made payments into account since June. This is first I have heard about it. I moved house last March and wrote to my banks to advise but they say they never got my letter. I never get paper statements so didn't realise. I have also taken a year out of studying and informed the bank this was my intention. My balance was sitting within my overdraft limit and as far as I knew I was not due to make any payments. I have raised a complaint with RBOS but they are telling me they WILL be adding it as a default no matter what I do as they sent all letters to my old address and have followed procedure. Is there anything I can do? I am due to be debt and default free within 1 year but if this is added as a default I will be back at square 1. I'm trying to get mortgage. Help please?

Ok where to start.. History: I've generally always been a borrower up until about 5 years ago when I finally broke the habit and started earning relatively ok money. I've had numerous loans over the years and overdrafts and charges applied to my account since banking with the Royal Bank of Scotland. I've recently discovered a £3 charge going out of my bank account, I discovered it when using the mobile application, I've never really paid a great deal of attention until I got this app (now i'm borderline OCD with it), old habits die hard from the days when I generally ignored bank statements as they were requesting money not showing me how much I had. Anyway, this £3 charge wasn't something I was aware of, the only thing I could imagine it being was for an overdraft service but I called 5 years ago to have the overdraft removed from my account, however I was told when I called the bank I still have an overdraft facility but they had no clue as to what the £3 was and gave me a number for the PPI helpline. PPI helpline didn't know, however took a complaint for missold (sold with the promise of the loan being successful if it was taken out) , the bank this morning chased the £3 charge up and it's been happening 14 (yes fourteen not a typo) years, dating back to 1999. I've since put in a complaint about this, I'm told its PPI on an overdraft facility, which was also sold as 'you are guaranteed a better chance of obtaining the overdraft if you take it out' I'm posting really for advice and what can I do or do next after the 8 weeks decision from the bank. I'm told today they have 9 complaints (on 9 loans?) being processed but the new one on the £3 charge totals 10. I wasn't aware I could claim for old loans until yesterday. I've bank with them since approx 25 years ago, and always been led to believe that the PPI was a way of guaranteeing a successful loan application. I'm somewhat embarrassed to post this, however this isn't the first time i've noticed payments being taken when I thought they had stopped. Any advice welcome.

Hello, I'm really hoping one of the very helpful people on this forum can point me in the right direction as I really don't know what to do next. Sorry if I've made this story too long. I live in France but have UK credit card debt (MBNA approx. 18K and RBOS approx. 5K) that I was paying off until I became unable to manage it after a drop in income at the beginning of last year and then becoming unemployed in May. I spoke to the helpful NationalDebtline people in Scotland and followed their advice to write to MBNA and RBOS explaining my situation with a copy of a personal budget sheet that showed my monthly income was less than outgoing, and asked they accept an offer of nil payment and stop charges until I could turn the situation around/review the situation in 6 months. MBNA acknowledged the financial hardship but told me on the telephone that I would likely continue to receive standard letters. I'm sure RBOS wrote to me to say the same, but despite digging through all the paperwork I can't find that letter just now though I received letters on their behalf right away from Triton that I assumed had crossed in the post while I was corresponding with RBOS. Things went quiet except for the odd standard letter. I tried (and keep trying without success) to turn the situation around so I can get back on to paying off the debt. MBNA now seems to have passed the file onto Arrow and then AIC in Glasgow. RBOS seems to have given it to Triton and now AIC in Glasgow. I'm assuming AIC are the ones to deal with now. I received an email and then answered a call from an AIC guy on Thursday. I again explained the terrible situation I find myself in. During the call he wasn't abusive or anything, he just kind of wanted the facts. I asked if AIC had been passed the account because I was confused who to deal with and he said yes. In the end he said their client (MBNA) would settle for £9388. I told him that would be near impossible - I can't afford to eat (and that's the truth) and can't afford to pay the rent at end of this month so will need to try to get out of the lease and leave (with nowhere to go yet - and an overdue french tax bill). I asked about the situation with RBOS and he said it was a different team but would speak to them. Trying to end the call, I said I would try to ask family for help but I know they are not in a position to do that. He said he would hold any further proceedings for 48h until I had a chance to raise money. He then said he would send me an email, asking me to confirm an email address he found for me on the internet. (By the way, the unemployment office is now helping me with a back to work/create work programme for which I set up a website hoping for freelance work - he found that site after googling my name. The website records shows someone from AIC visited and bounced around a few pages before he emailed/called me. He questioned me about that business and I explained it's not a business, it's trying to create work. But it unnerved me knowing he'd been googling me. I'm now even more nervous posting my problems to this forum in case they're reading it) He then sent me an email to say they would accept final settle of £9388 for MBNA and £4078 for RBOS. I think I should have just said I didn't want to talk on telephone but I needed to start talking with someone and start working out my predicament. £14000 is impossible to raise just now. I don't have any assets of value to sell. I'm very worried they are going to send French debt collectors after me or court in France. I'm pretty confused and scared and never been in a situation like this. I've read about people asking for a CCA. Should I do this? Should I get back to the guy at AIC to say I can't raise the money? Should I respond to his email saying please only send me correspondence in the post as my emails can be read by others. I'm so confused just now I'm not even sure which questions I should be asking you. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Thanks so much in advance (apologies is this is posted twice - the first time I got a message saying I wasn't logged in. Maybe I was timed out while writing)
