Last year on 24th August we switched providers and signed a 12 month contract with BT for supply of land line plus broadband. However this morning in my inbox was an email notifying me that there was a price increase of £2.50 and that this would be implemented from 1st April. Can they do this and is it a get out of contract if they impose the extra charge? Hi, My partner has had an agreement with IDEM services for a repayment plan of 95 pounds. She was diagnosed with Parkinsons in January. She has been without work for 2 years and now she must accept early retirement as she is no longer capable of working. We wrote to idem and her other creditors asking to reduce the figures to a token 5 pounds of which all but idem agreed. I will fill out and income/expenditure form for her to send, as now I am the only earner in the house and so am responsible for all expenses. is there anything I can do in order to get them to drop their figures or see sense, ultimately she will never realise the conculsion fo these debts as she is no longer in a position to earn money outside of her pension.

Sky is putting up the prices of its TV packages by an average of between £2 and £3 a month from 1 June. The TV giant has revealed new prices for both upgrades and its TV deals, with increases ranging between £1 and £4.25 per month. Sky’s premier package, The Complete, will see the biggest jump in cost, with customers required to pay £80 a month from June – a rise of £4.25. “While existing customers who have been with Sky for longer than the minimum term (12 months) can vote with their feet, in doing so they say goodbye to a lot of content you cannot get anywhere else. Always happy to look around the charity shops.And spend a pound or two or even three. And donated as well. But increasingly finding it difficult to find not a bargain but a fair priced item. As the Great British public donate things free i would have thought the policy would be stack it high sell it cheap. Charity shops are now everywhere on the high streets of Britain and would have thought competition was fierce. Shoes,clothes household items at prices that you can now buy at certain stores cheaper.New. Charity shops are places where the poorer can go to find things cheaper,are things changing,have they changed do you think in the last few years. Now i do have Yorkshire origins and do not want to appear tight and am willing to pay a fair price. And opening this thread i do expect a little criticism perhaps.I can take it been round long enough. Maybe i am getting older and grumpier as time goes by. Also some Tips have now opened Tip shops usually in metal containers where articles that the British Public have thrown away are sold. Argos has done much advertising about their" clearance" sale. but where are the bargains? I bought a Double sized Silentnight bed blanket from them at £24.99. X shop. It was unsuitable so I returned it. Amazon were advertising the same blanket but in King size for £16+£3.99 delivery. Just another example of Argos un competitive pricing.

When buying a new Apple device direct from Apple they now offer to buy your old device. You don't get cash, you get a voucher, which you have to spend with them. I therefore expected a decent deal, as usually you get a better deal if you accept a voucher. Not from Apple, I found a working, excellent condition iphone 4 was "worth" £25. To compare (I only checked 3 others): Envirofone £46 Mazuma £45 (or £49.50 if you accept a voucher) Envirofone via sellmymobile £50 Somehow, I expected better from Apple, I did not think they would offer so much less than other sites.

I have used the regulated company & site many times before. pressing the CONFIRM button . it requires acceptance etc, that clearly states the order cannot be CANCELLED and payment is immediate by debit card. it is VERY clear that this contract is exempt Regulations 2013 regulation distance and off-premises because of LIVE fluctuating prices. PRICES ARE FIXED upon confirming, which I did, and is a in STOCK items. I receive the confirmation of ORDER , and acceptance of order also confirmation of receipt of payment ALL 3 By email. However the fluctuating OFFER price was a lot lot lower than usual .But the gold markets where very volatile (e.g. in 1min GOLD price fell 5% Lower, though I did not know this , till later,) but I made the decision to purchase. and I was very very happy. Please could you advise me if the well established bullion online regulated trading company, can now, cancel my order. and just refund my payment. I could do with reducing our outgoings and I think I might be able to cancel my Sky subscription as ther've sent me an email saying they're putting their prices up on their line rental and phone service. We have TV which thankfully we can definitely cancel as its just out of contract.. .but, does the fact theyre putting prices up mean I can cancel the line and phone? (Its contracted til Aug next year as well as the internet apparently) If I can cancel the phone and line does that mean I can therefore cancel the internet due to it being linked in with the online and line "deal" originally?? Hi all, unsure whether this belongs here or another forum area so please move if needed I noticed something this morning on an item I've had in my Amazon basket for a while. It was priced at £250 for a couple of weeks and the same item was the same price in Argos, John Lewis and even Halfords was similar (Couple of pounds more) What seemed like seconds before todays lightning deal kicked in for that item, the price went up to £268 and the lightning deal kicked in @ 30% off RRP. To me RRP was £250 and from what I can see, the item was increased in price for the deal. If I remember correctly, shops used to do this before in-store promos and was deemed either wrong or maybe even unlawful though I may be wrong here. Online chat was pointless and they just maintain prices go up and down but I find it too much of a coincidence it was increased seconds before the deal. Deal still means it's cheaper than JL but it's more the morality of it. What do you think? Looking too much into it? cheers

Hi, Im not sure what it is im looking for in asking the question whether Newlyn are fixing prices. They say i owe £324.54, giving their breakdown that i asked them for the said as follows; TOTAL BALANCE INCLUDING FEES £835.04 TOTAL PAID £510.50 BALANCE OUTSTANDING £324.54 i asked for the breakdown of the balance and they said VISIT ONE £24.50 VISIT TWO £18.00 LEVY FEE £42.16 (they say they levied the car outside my house, but they gave me the wrong details it was not my car ) ATTENDANCE/VAN £136.00 Their fees come to £220.66 Leaving £103.88 I asked the council for the total of my liability order which they said was COUNCIL TAX DEBT £188.54 I have paid most of my council tax online instead of to the bailiff, these sums dont add up, are Newlyn fixing these prices, they dont seem to know how much i owe the council

Ok, I need to go to to London from Nottingham this Thurs/Fri. The return tickets are coming in at over £120. The above prices are from 2 singles (even with their "best fare finder") - as you can see these figures are way out with their "£38 or less".... What is going on here? I drove to London twice before and back to Nottm on £40 worth of diesel. Moreover, I get my own personal space in the car, and dont have to stand around cramped at peak hours, or listen to some drunk rage at off peak times. I thought public transport was supposed to be cheap?

Six High Street furniture and carpet retailers have been accused of misleading their customers with fake prices. The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) said the stores had all advertised price cuts which were not genuine. In particular, they advertised reductions from previously higher prices, which tricked customers into thinking they were getting a bargain. Carpetright and the ScS chain are among the six being investigated. During its inquiries, the OFT said it found systematic examples of inflated "reference pricing". That is where a retailer claims the price "was" £500, for example, and is "now" £300. But the OFT said that in some cases, the stores under investigation had not sold a single product at the previous higher price. On average, it found that 95% of sales were at the lower, or "now" price, suggesting the original prices were not genuine. It also said the problem was "endemic" within the industry. I've just receive a letter to inform me of a price increase by £4.59. I'm on 50mb and was told, along with everyone else, that my speed would be doubling, that was last year, Then came a big price rise and still no speed increase. Now we are almost a year on and another increase in price but no increase in BB speed, I'm still on 50mb despite being told it would be doubling. They now say it will be by the Autumn of 2013 which I suppose will be after another couple of price rises. So much for 'Free' speed increase. Time to make this public on Consumer Action Group. The Financial Services Authority, is investigating claims by a whistleblower that Britain's £300bn wholesale gas market has been "regularly" manipulated by some of the big power companies, exploiting weaknesses that echo the recent Libor scandal. The second wettest summer on record has blighted UK harvests and will lead to food price rises, farmers and retailers have warned. Hotels are routinely breaching government guidelines and advertising standards rules by not including VAT in headline prices online. A Which? Travel investigation found that 11 out of 24 hotel chains included hotels that did not initially include VAT in their web prices. This breaches Department for Business Innovation and Skills guidance, which states that all prices given to consumers should include VAT and the total price must be displayed 'prominently'. Hotel web prices When we looked at hotel chains' websites in July we found properties displaying initial prices that excluded VAT. They did not make it clear that the real price was 20% higher until a later stage in the online booking process. We found properties in the following chains that did not include VAT in the headline price; Crowne Plaza, Doubletree by Hilton, Guoman, Hilton, Holiday Inn, Malmaison, Marriott, Mercure, Radisson Blu, Sofitel, and Thistle. Some did not include VAT until the payment page. For instance, Hilton and Doubletree added it at stage four of a five stage booking process. From stage two, details were available but hidden in a 'rate details' pop-up box. Hotel price rules We investigated the hotels after the Advertising Standards Authority upheld a complaint that VAT-exclusive prices on the websites of Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) and its subsidiary Crowne Plaza were misleading and breached the ASA code. The ASA has started a compliance action to get the whole UK hotel sector to fall into line with its code. VAT and hotel prices Trading Standards experts warn that hotels not including VAT in headline prices are potentially breaching the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations. Martin Fisher, of the Trading Standards Institute, said that, to be sure of staying on the right side of the law, businesses should not quote VAT-exclusive prices in any dealings with consumers. OFT boosts transparency on heating oil prices 26 July 2012 Following OFT action, GB Oils Limited, the largest supplier of heating oil in the country, has changed its domestic heating oil contracts ensuring quoted prices do not increase from the time an order is made until the customer is billed on delivery. When a consumer orders from a supplier, 'spot' prices are quoted that reflect the current market price of oil.
