Six in ten people (59%) say they would be more likely to switch banks if they could keep their bank account number. According to a new survey from Which?, three-quarters (76%) of those questioned believe that this would make switching accounts easier because there would be no need to change existing direct debits and standing orders. More than half (55%) of those surveyed have never switched their current account, so both Which? and Andrea Leadsom MP have this week hosted a joint event at the House of Commons to encourage banks to introduce portable accounts.
