  1. Good afternoon, I am wondering if somebody can point me in the right direct. Last summer myself, my wife and our son (13 at the time) flew to Romania with Tarom (Heathrow to Bucharest). Our flight landed almost 6 hours late. On our return, I filed a claim for compensation for the three of us at 400 Euro’s per person. After 3 months, Tarom eventually replied to me with an apology and an offer of 450 Euro’s per person in vouchers. I refused this and insisted upon a cash alternative via bank transfer under Regulation EU261. Tarom agreed to compensate 400 Euro’s per person and asked for my bank details, which I have supplied. However, after another 3 weeks, they only paid 400 Euro’s. I have emailed them twice since to ask about the remaining 800 Euro’s. Today, I got a reply stating the following: “Under the Romanian Law (we are a Romanian Company) we can make the payment directly to the passenger. In order to make the payment for Mrs. XXXX and Mr. XXXX we need the following bank details of the passengers.” Is this information correct, or are they trying to delay payment further? I can’t imagine that an airline pays each member of a family separately e.g. a family package holiday. Our son does not have a bank account, so I can’t give them any bank details for him, although he is entitled to compensation too. Many thanks
  2. Good morning everyone, I have been asked by my ex-wife to help her after she got a letter threatening her with bailiffs, She got herself into debt with EE and of course because she was dealing with depression she started to "bury her head in the sand" The consequence is that The lovely Leeds Losers (aka Lowell) have got involved, I only became aware of this situation after she got a letter from the county court, saying that they were about to get the bailiffs after her. My question is, why have they only chosen to partially enforce the judgement, this is something I have never heard of before? because of her depression etc she is not sure she received a letter of assignment etc, would it be worth having a go at getting the judgement set aside(however I have paid the amount they enforced, just to stop her having to deal with bailiffs) Many thanks in advance
  3. Good afternoon folks, I have been looking around for advice on the following as i am trying to clean up my credit files folowing completion of an IVA in August 2016. In summary, IVA started in June 2010, settled in August 2016. One of the creditors has finally updated the credit file at Equifax as below :- You can see that there is no default date on this entry, which should be the start date for the IVA. Is this entry going to stay on there for another 6 years from the settlement date, which should also be the date for te end of the IVA? If i have the default date corrected will the entry then disappear ? This creditor, Nationwide, seems to be reluctant to assist. Urkood.
  4. Help and advice welcome. To end my debt nightmare a family member has offered to help me pay off my debt. I wrote to Cabot saying that a family member was offering to pay £800 for a full and final settlement. The original debt was for £4000 and was a CC. There are no charges that I can claim back, I just want this sorted before I move house. Cabot wrote back saying. “I am happy to accept the £800 you have offered as a one off payment to close the account. If you still wish to proceed with your offer, once the payment has been received your account will be closed and your credit file will be updated to show as partially settled with a zero balance.” I am not interested in my credit file or obtaining credit in the future. Are Cabot trying it on by showing the debt as partially satisfied? Could the balance be sold to another DCA? If the family member wrote to Cabot saying that his offer is only made on the basis that the balance won’t be pursued by themselves or any other DCA, would that be any good. Any help or advice is very welcome.
  5. Hi I was wondering if anyone could advise me. Back in 2010 I had around £32k of debt (mostly credit cards and and a loan/overdraft). I lost my job so I stopped paying my debts, as I was no longer in a position to pay them. Over time I got back into work, however I was now being offered partial settlements on some of my debts and because of the massive hole I was in at the time I decieded the best way to clear the debts would be to take up this option and pay a reduced rate. I typically paid around 33 per cent. Using this method I cleared all but 1 of my debts by January 2015. Since the start of the year things have been going well for me in work and I along with my wife have been able to save a deposit for a mortgage. I then recieved a letter from the last remaing credit card offering a partial settlement on the account of 33 percent. I decided to take it as I believed it would help me get a mortgage as my credit file would show 0 debt. However I was aware that the likelyhood was the default and debt would be written off regardless in the next year. I have now found the company I am applying for the mortgage with belongs to the same organisation I have recently partially settled an account with. Can anybody advise if I am likely to get a mortgage because of this or should I try an alternative mortgage provider? Thank you in advance for any advice. elvis77
  6. Hi all, Back after a long break, good to see some of the old familiar names are still here.... My OH has a very complicated credit history. Lots of accounts are being paid off under a plan which was originally put in place by CAB, then taken over by me once i discovered CAG. She has just received an 'offer' from our good friends at Lowell - a discount of 75% to pay off an old bank debt. on receipt of payment they will 'update your credit file to show the account as partially satisfied and we will close your account'. Now, would I be right in thinking that 'partially satisfied' is absolutely no use to us, and we should ignore this offer like all the rest? Just to avoid the obvious questions, this loan is certainly pre-2007; we are not currently paying anything, and i don't remember without digging into the mountain of files when the last payment or acknowledgement was. All i need is an opinion on the 'partially satisfied' gambit.
  7. Good afternoon all This is my first post on this forum. I received a letter from the lowell group saying they had checked my credit file and see no reason for not paying and that they believe i work etc etc and that they will be applying for CCJ. Two days later i receive a letter offering me a discount of 75% saying they will mark as partially satisfied and close my account. Now i have not made a payment or acknowledged the debt since 2007, but on looking at my credit file it says default November 2009. Would I be correct in thinking that it will not be statute barred until November 2015? Thanks
  8. Hello all, I am not sure I am writing this thread in the right section, if not, please apologize. I have a doubt about a behavior of Phones4u customer service. I submitted some days ago a complain about a bad treatment I had in one of their shop. They answered me apologizing and offering me a refund of what I spent in their shop. To refund me they asked for my account number and sort code to process a Bank transfer. As I don't trust so much to provide these kind of information via email I asked them to limit the risk if instead of my regular Debit card I could provide the data of an Orange prepaid Mastercard to make the transfer. They answered me few minutes ago, saying that they cannot transfer money over a SIM card (they didn't even get the difference between an Orange Sim card and an Orange prepaid Mastercard) but the serious problem is that they provided me my bank details (that obviously they had stored for my previous purchase) via email asking simply to confirm them so that they can process the payment. Please note that they provided my sort number completely and my account number hidden except the last 3 numbers. Now I am wondering? They can do that? They can provide sensitive data with such simplicity? I first contacted them without provide any kind of information proving my identity, so what if I were a [problem]mer looking for someone sensitive information? Suggestions & advices? Thank you very much in advance.
