  1. I work in a care home, normally work 4 nights a week, but since January, I have been doing 5 nights a week every other(not by choice, staff shortages). But I would like to know what is classed as a FULL UNINTERRUPTED 24 HOUR DAY Of REST. Just lately , since January, I seem to be in 1 work night, off next day, in,off,in,off etc. My hours are 9pm-7am. I cannot do anything really on these days off, after all, I do have to sleep. So really, if I wanted a proper family day out, say go somewhere at 8 in the morning and stay out till late at night, how??? Am I being fussy, but I do begrudge having only these half days as I class them, because all I seem to do is catch up on housework and the shopping.
  2. I made a flight with ezjet. I had a suitcase with 20kg allowance, plus golf clubs. They sent me my ticket details etc. in an email, which I printed and took to the airport. The email showed the baggage allowance of 20kgs, plus a golf bag that I had paid extra for. When I got to the check-in the golf bag was overweight and I was forced to pay excess baggage of £70 for it. I later checked the small print on their site and indeed found the allowance for golf bag was 12kgs. I was over that and so was charged extra. My complaint is that the email they sent me made it very clear that my case allowance was 20kgs, but it gave no allowance indication for the golf bag. (Although as I said, on their web site you can eventually find that it says 12kgs.) The email seemed to imply that the golf bag was not subject to a weight limit, only that it should be a set of golf clubs. The travel bag for the golf clubs that I used was quite sturdy and heavy and put me well over this unknown to me 12kgs limit. Surely their email should have said 12kgs in it - especially since they had 20kgs in it nice and clearly for the suitcase? Or am I flogging a dead horse here? Any thoughts appreciated. Regards, Dave
  3. Forum to advise on preventing private-parking rip-offs [5 November 2012] Dodgy practices in the private-parking industry have led the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) to create an advisory committee of consumer and motoring bodies to help sort out the mess, much of which stems from unclear signs and documents. The new ‘DVLA Consumer Forum on Private Parking Management’ will include people from the AA, the RAC, Which?, Trading Standards, the Office of Fair Trading and Citizens Advice, as well as Martin Cutts of Plain Language Commission and Nev Metson, the former police officer who has exposed many of the worst private-parking rip-offs. As we’ve reported, the industry chases drivers for around £160million a year in phoney (ie, non-official) fines for supposedly breaching car-park rules. The forum will meet twice a year. http://www.clearest.co.uk/news/2012/11/5/forum_to_advise_on_preventing_private_parking_rip_offs
