  2. Just a note to let anyone who has recently sent their ESA50 back to the Nottingham address, they have a massive backlog, and in the past week have had over 100,000 forms returned to them. So they are under a lot of pressure. I sent mine back beginning of March, and it's now just waiting to go to the nurse! Hoping to have a decision in the next week...or so they say....here's hoping........ Miss A.:|
  3. This is very worrying ? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-30005682
  4. Hi all. My sister has just returned to Nottingham Trent University after being home for the summer. She got on the tram as usual expecting to buy a ticket from the conductor as she always has done previously. When the conductor arrived, she asked him for a return ticket. He simply said "can you come with me please" then he took her off the tram at the station they were up to, and the tram drove off. He then told her that you now have to prepurchase all tickets before boarding the tram and because she had not done that she will be issued with a £50 fine. He said he can see from your face that your shocked and genuine, so I have to give you this but don't worry you can appeal it. He gave her lots of advice on the appeal such as mentioned how she'd been home for the summer and wasn't aware of the new arrangements. She was very flustered, close to tears, a car drove past pipping his horn and someone shouted "ha ha you haven't paid for your ticket" so she was very embarrassed, a crowd was watching plus about 10 ticket collectors were all watching. She gave him her details and ID under intimidation and with the promise that she could simply appeal it. All they have given her is a flimsy carbon copy with no details or websites or anything. She can't remember the appeals info he gave her as she was so flustered. He then said she doesn't need a ticket now and put her on the next tram to continue her journey! The fine is for £50. We assume they will send her a letter as there is no instructions on how or who to pay. Over the summer they have added an A5 size sign on a lamppost along the platform, some stickers on the tram doors which aren't visible when they're open and stickers inside the tram which is too late. The ticketmachine also has a new sticker, but the machine is at the other end of the platform where 90% of people have no reason to walk past. She's gone back and taken some pictures. See if you can spot the signs! Here is the platform with its big new sign This is the sign on the tram doors. It's that green bit, and obviously the doors are usually already open! Here is the PCN they gave her, after getting her to sign it There is nothing on the back. Should this NET ticket be viewed as worthless as those from private carparks or taken more seriously like those from the council? A Google brings up several similar stories http://www.nottinghampost.com/Tram-traveller-starts-petition-50-fines/story-21446293-detail/story.html http://www.nottinghampost.com/Vicky-victorious-pound-50-tram-fine-appeal/story-22875134-detail/story.html How should she proceed? Personally I would'nt have given him a name or ID but what would they have done about it? Being an unemployed student she is very worried, and also quite shaken as she feels like she has been found guilty of a crime and publicly shamed. Thanks

  6. Hi has anybody heard of this or had any dealings with with agency? they have sent me two rather nasty letters in space of a week asking me to contact them regarding a debt that has been assigned to LLC acquisition on 30.1.2010 (four years ago!!) I don't recall this and some how they are now saying I must pay 753.52 by 11:00 on Thursday before advising their partner soliictors to issue a county court summons what is the letter that you send asking for proof over the debt? it a CCA? I sent one of these to a company a few years back but I cannot remember for life of me what it was called - is this what I should do in this case?
  7. Hi there, I hope someone can help me. being Newbie I am stuck Yesterday I received 2 letters from Bryan Carter solicitors. One Letter and the Other Court forms I have a debt with Lowell who bought the debt from shop direct/LX I defaulted in 2010, and due to having breakdown and being out of work I simply couldn't cope at the time. ( to tell you the truth its all a bit of a blur) I am now getting myself up on my feet and this lands on my doorstep. I don't know what to do? ! I really don't want this to end up as a CCJ... as trying to sort myself out and hoping for a mortgage next year. do I admit to it? can I try to ask for a settlement figure? do I ask for extra time as most of the Debt is due to Charges on the original account with the cataloge company So I can claim them back? who do I contact the solictors? court or Lowell? Sorry for all the Questions but I am in meltdown over this.
  8. Member Group: Members Posts: 565 Joined: 11 Oct 2006 From: stapleford, nottingham Member No.: 8,176 I drove down a bus lane on 30th May 2013 at 08.21. I was intending to turn left at the side of Nottingham Crown Court to enter the small car park at the back of Sainsburys local. I know the bus lane used to be no entry mon-fri 4.00p.m. -6.00 p.m.. Unbeknown to me, there were some times added of 07.30-09.30 mon-fri. I was asked to pay a £60.00 fine, or if paid within 14 days of service of documents, issued on 05/06/13. It would be reduced by 50% to £30.00. I was also told that I could make a representation which I did. The representation was made online to the council on 07/06, and received by the council in their offices on 09/06. They refused my representation that I was turning left into the car park due to the fact that I entered the bus lane 45 metres before the car park entrance. I was then told that I had to pay the full £60.00 because I made a representation, and the representation was against the £60.00. Allegedly. I decided to appeal to the adjudicator stating that the council had no legal right to ask for the full payment until after 14 days had lapsed. Today, I got the result I was wanting. The council will not be challenging my appeal. Therefore I don't even have to pay £30.00 let alone £60.00........... .....Oh and the council are changing the wording in their documents so that if you do make a representation within 14 days of service of documents, and your representation is disallowed, you still get the offer of a 50% reduction.
  9. Hello, I was wondering whether I can challenge the penalty notice I have received on the basis that there is no marking (solid line or dashes) on the road to indicate where the bus lane starts, there is only a BUS & BICYCLE ONLY writing on the road. Thanks Sean
