  3. Don't leave it too late to find out if you're eligible for financial help and support through Warm Home Discount schemes this winter. They are run by energy companies but tend to close in late November or early December. One in 10 of allhouseholds are eligible for some form of help with their energy bills. Those that qualify include low-income families, disabled, elderly and other vulnerable customers. http://www.homeheathelpline.org.uk/about/
  4. Hi All. I am having a real headache at the moment with homeinsure.co.uk / Thames bank insurance. Background: I split up from my ex-wife some time ago, but as we own a property together (wholly on my name) and no one else lives at the property, i still left some of my contents there as it is the safest place for them. This included some photography equipment, cycles etc. Additionally, all the bills etc on the property are on my name as i deal with anything official in relation to the property. The building is insured via a block management policy. History: Back in 2016 i took out a policy with homeinsure.co.uk (Thames bank insurance (HI)), as it happened to be the cheapest via confused.com The policy cost in the region of £185 for contents only. At the time, i was not advised that the policy would automatically be renewed. At the point of renewal in 2017, HI sent me an email, which ended up in junk mail with the policy renewal details, additionally if i recall no credit agreement details were sent. Unfortunately, i missed the window to cancel the policy by a few days. The policy cost had increased, even though no claims had been made. Unfortunately, due to serious health issues i wasn't able to argue the point, so left the policy standing. I am sure I did however request the policy not be renewed again. This policy cost was around £255 (37.8% increase). Current - The issue Fast forward to 2018, i no longer use the email address they email on as it is full of junk mail. I only found out the policy had renewed after receiving a credit alert of a new finance agreement, after some investigation i found out it was with creation on behalf of HI. The new policy was around £310. I contacted HI 3 days past the 14 day cooling off period. I spoke to a really arrogant team leader who refused to cancel unless i paid the cancellation fees plus additional charges. I said i would discuss with my ex and call back. Again, i had not agreed to a renewal or a new credit agreement. I then received an email on 31st December stating my insurance would be cancelled with no reasons given. I called back again on 07/01/2019 to find out how much the cancellation would actually cost. I was advised this would be £105 (premiums + cancellation fee). I was then dragged into a call with the same supervisor as previous which dragged on for 50 minutes. During the call I mentioned I do not live at the property yet have belongings there and the insurance and every other bill is on my name. The supervisor then mentioned we would not be insured in the event of a claim. I stated she was on the policy documents as well. The supervisor then mentioned my ex would need to be on the deeds. Every time I came to a decision she would try to confuse the matter further - almost just to antagonise me. Two options where on the table: Pay £35 and change the policy into my ex's name only. Pay £105 and cancel the policy. After consideration, the customer service, HI's annoying staff , we decided to pay the £105 and cancel as a new policy elsewhere would have cost around £80, and at least I would not have to deal with their antagonistic supervisor again. The supervisor then demanded I pay the balance immediately. To which I refused and wanted a breakdown. A few days later I receive an email saying I owe them £170. Had we been made aware of this we would not have cancelled and just let the policy run on. So my questions are: They quoted me £105 to leave. Was that binding? I was never advised that I would not be covered if I did not live at the property, and having my ex's name on the policy wouldn’t change anything. Which means I was not actually covered since the inception of the policy. Do I have a right to claim the policy back? - I have requested the call recordings from the inception of the policy. And of the last conversation I had with them - not heard anything back. How long do they have to provide me with the call recordings - I want them for my complaint to the FCA. They added a £10 'set up fee', and the cost of £45 for emergency cover in the £170 Any other advise would be appreciated. Thanks
  5. I don't really think this is anything to do with the NHS but this seems to be where the Care Home funding issues are. I am sorry this is long-winded but am hoping it saves you having to ask questions. My mother has been cared for at home for many years by me and by carers. She is 98 and has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's for seven years. It is not getting any better as you may guess. After one fall of many caused a broken ankle last year she ended up first in our local hospital, then in a Rehabilitation Unit, then in an interim stay in a care home for assessment and re-enabling and finally in a permanent care home. To transfer her from the Rehab Unit to the Interim Care Home she was assessed and found not to have the mental capacity to make that decision and she was, after a Best Interest meeting moved very quickly to the interim home. We went through the same process when discussing her care after leaving the Interim Home, Mental Capacity Assessment where it was found she would not be able to decide in her own best interest and Best Interest meeting where it was decided she needed full-time permanent care as the LA would not be able to put in enough care at home. At this time I explained that although mum owned a bungalow she had an equity release mortgage, taken out before my father died 15 years ago. I took on PoA about eight years ago. Mum has been assessed for the payment for the Interim Care Home stay which I understand and will pay (when an invoice finally arrives) and for the first 12 weeks in the Permanent Care Home again, I understand the formula they are using and will pay it when billed. They could not find a home that could meet mum's needs for the rate the LA chooses to pay but the room she is in is at what the home calls Local Authority Rate. She has been assessed as needing to pay the full amount once the 12 weeks are passed. I have been asked as PoA to sign a form requesting a Deferred Payment Loan against the future capital from the bungalow. According to the formula in the "What is the Deferred Payments Scheme" paper they sent me they would calculate Mum to be in negative equity once the bungalow is sold. They are still asking me to sign but I am not a solicitor nor do I have any knowledge of the Care system other than what I have gleaned on the way. I think they will give mum/me this loan but it feels very unsafe to take it out. I feel we could end up with a debt we cannot pay if the house sells for what has been estimated as the value or less - especially with March and Brexit, etc. I have asked for a reassessment of what mum has to pay after the 12 weeks as the figures have been updated since the original assessment which was really a best guess at what the bungalow would sell for. At best she will only be able to fund a few weeks and I really could not have made it clearer that this was the situation from the outset. How can they charge her when their own figures suggest negative equity. I am quite prepared to pay whatever the law says she should but I feel very out of my depth with this. Help!
  6. Have a boiler policy with 24/7 home rescue. Never had a chance to use them in 14 months until recently. The boiler was making noises so they said they would send an engineer out and I need to pay the excess amount of £75 which I did via Credit card. The engineer has been this morning and says that pump is faulty and will cost £295 to change and I need to speak with 24/7. Called them and they said that they only cover 60% of the cost of the value of the boiler and they value the boiler at £250. So they won't cover this issue. I need the boiler fixed so called an independent engineer and he has given me a quote of £140 for parts and labor to fit the new pump. I asked 24/7 to refund my excess as they did not do the job which they have refused. This is clearly a con by 24/7. Under value the price of the boiler and over inflate the cost of the parts and fitting and any claim can be void. I was also not made aware of the condition that they would only pay 60% of the value of the boiler for any claims. Any suggestions what I can do to get my £75 excess back? Chargeback? Also should I take this any further?
  7. My dear Dad who served in WWII and worked all his life developed vascular dementia after suffering a stroke and eventually ended up in a care home. We applied for NHS Continuing Care and was passed from pillar to post as is the case for many. The only asset he had was the ex-council house which I helped him to buy [he had lived there for over 40 years at the time] with my mother. We bought the house as joint tenants in 1985. On my mother's death in 1991 we failed to inform the Land Registry of her death [not clued up at all about these things] so the house was then jointly owned by myself and my Dad. My Dad went into a care home in 2006. The local authority [LA] rejected the claim for NHS Continuing Care and took all my Dad's pension leaving him with a few pounds each week. As I was the joint owner of the property with my Father the LA kept sending me bills for the shortfall in his weekly care home fees. Upon my Dad's death in 2007 the LA continued to chase me for the shortfall in the care home fees amounting to thousands of pounds despite my stating I was pursuing a claim for NHS Continuing care. Earlier and unbeknown to me the LA had put a charging order on the house [sending 3 letters - one to my deceased mother, one to my father who was in the care home and one to me [living 200 miles away] we didn't pick up the letters until after the deadline for objecting had passed as we were obviously up and down the motorway visiting my father in the care home. Since then I have completed various questionnaires and sent loads of emails to no avail and no resolution of this issue. The demands for payment from the Finance Dept. stopped in 2014. I've not heard anything since. My questions are: 1. Does the charging order made by the LA against the property have an expiry date? I have seen something about 12 years? 2. If the Finance Dept. has stopped chasing me for payment - where do I stand now? Is the debt written off after x number of years? I maintain my father was fully entitled to NHS Continuing Care and I will continue to fight this - he died in 2007 - I haven't heard anything further from my last appeal I think in 2014 - it is very wearing. Meanwhile I can't sell the house [the charge on the house means the LA will get their hands on the money to which I vehemently object] and am letting the property out to tenants which is a whole new world of pain. I also foolishly paid someone to act as my advocate and of course he took the money and did - feel very let down that he could take advantage of people when they are at such a low ebb. I know I'm not the only person to fall prey to this person. Any advice gratefully received. Thank you.
  8. Hope this is the right place to post. My mother was diagnosed with alzheimers some years ago now and we have cared for her at home as much as we could but last year we had to put her into a care home. We have been trying to get her assessed for CHC funding so she doesn't have to pay for her care but we have been told lots of untruths and social services tried to find out how much money she has and if she owns her own house. We have told them that we will not tell them until she has been assessed. Now when she moved to the care home they said after about 6 weeks they would look at the assessment when she has settled in. We were paying around £150 per week and the council was paying the balance. Approx 6 months later mom broke her hip and I arranged with the lady who does the CHC assessment that after about 6 weeks when mom settled down she would do the assessment. She never got back in touch. 4 months later I get a call saying that the care home has been told that mom should have been self funded since she moved in and I was going to get a large bill £38,000! The council had been paying it by mistake they said and took all the funding back. I played my face and went in to see them, I told then about all the fobbing off and nothing being done for 12 months 2 days later the CPN came to see me to go through moms needs(I was prepared for her, with a few aces) they tried to downplay moms needs, clearly trying to say she didn't trigger the full assessment. I was asked to pay the balance (I paid £10,00 a few days earlier) I refused until I had the results of the meeting. I did pay another £9,000 so I could be seen as paying half if it went to court. I had a call today from the care home saying that they had talked to the CPN and they had rethought on what I had said and they had changed the one from a B to an A (primary) and a C to a B (this pleased me. She then pushed me to make payment. I said i think it was ok but had to speak to a solicitor friend of mine before I confirmed on Monday (my turn to fob them off) Now I have a problem, if I pay them the balance mom will have about £5,000 left in her account plus her house, she has household bills and other house related costs even though she is not living there. I don't want to pay the balance. What is the best action to take? Do they have a right to make us pay it all straight away? I think its very unfair as its not our fault but the council that has put us in this position with such a large amount to pay in one go. Thay have said if I don't pay then they will serve 28 days as I signed a contract when I moved mom there and she would go on the at risk register and will be moved. I really don't know what to do

  10. Hi everyone....so moving to a new area and having to end IR ESA and cancel HB and CTRelief. So new claim for UC in new area plus a new home. Can anyone tell me if once the UC has been applied for and is processing can the new landlord be made aware so they know the rent will be paid asap or will I have to be prepared to pay a month up front full rent until its sorted out. Sorry if this appears a stupid question but my whole world collapsed this week and I have to start completely again somewhere else.
  11. Hello everyone. Im new here, so I hope I am in the right place. I really dont know where to begin. I was paying my credit card off at a reduced rate until around 3 years ago when my debt was sold to Cabot who more than doubled my payments. It was too much for me to afford with no job, recently divorced and a young family to support. So I defaulted. Other than one letter from Cabot asking me for full payment of my debt, I have not received any further payment requests nor notifications of home visits during this time. I have lived at the same address for 6 years. I am in Northern Ireland. Last week I received a home visit from Resolve Call debt collection agency. He said I would have got a letter giving me 7 days notice of his call, but I honestly did not. He was very rude and really frightened me. He said various nasty things and made some threats of court action, bailiffs and being made homeless if I failed to pay in full. He also said that he will keep coming back until I pay up. I have been terrified to answer my door for almost a week. I really dont know what to do or where to go from here. I dont have the money to pay them and they wont listen to reason. I did query the account with him when he tried to push his way into my home by attempting to walk straight through me, but I did not admit to the debt. They want the full amount or they will take me to court. My original debt was for £15000 and with my previous payments it now stands at almost £9000. Any advice would be deeply appreciated.
  12. Signed a solar panel maintenance Contract in home for 3K (deposit paid on CC), with no mention of 'cooling off' period. in Contract. So how how long do I have to cancel the Contract & recover my deposit (s75)?
  13. I will do my best to ask my question without making it too complicated. I have 14 separate diagnosis. I live currently in the home I raised my children in, which was recently transferred from the council to a housing association. All my children have left home. I have carers coming in to help with personal care and domestic tasks and taking me out into the community, i.e. shopping, coffee out, for 7 hrs per week, the remainder of the time I am at home, in doors and extremely lonely. It is having a real impact on some of my diagnosis. I have a friend that is returning from outside the UK after 14 years and they are hoping to return to their home town in Yorkshire. I live in the south east and I would like to be able to share a 2 bedroom flat or house with him in Yorkshire for companionship. There is no relationship other than friends between myself and this person who happens to be male. We have known each other for 33 years. At home I feel as if I am just waiting for the inevitable....I have social services involvement but what I want to know is this....Is it possible to move to Yorkshire and move in with a friend that would for my benefit reduce the amount of care I would require, reduce and potentially stop some conditions from occurring and have a normal happy life as much as possible, without being accused as him being my partner? Thanks
  14. Hi all, Great to see some current posts in this thread. I to have had a letter from CLI re a Kuwait debt. This is one of many companies that have tried to connect with me that i have ignored. HOWEVER! They've chased me from moving house, and the latest letter says they are sending a debt collector around in 7 days. Is this just another scare tactic? This has been going on for years now.
  15. My friend has just got a bailiff final notice letter through his door on Monday but it is for his son. Or should I say, His son business. His sons registered business address is at his dads’ home. So, I have assured him that as long as you don’t open the door the bailiff cannot enter your property as it is a private dwelling belonging to him and not his son and they cannot drill the locks either, it’s just a bluff to get you to open the door and pay someone else debt The final notice just says client XXXXX borough council. For the value of £423. I have spoken to the son who has no recollection of anything form the council or anything from the courts. Now heres is the thing. It only take a second to enter the sons company name in google to see where his work place is but to get to his unit they would have to cross over someone else land. His dad is worried that they may go to this unit and take his work tools which would stop him from working and earning a living. While they sort this out. His sons company is limited business. Both are very nervous of calling the bailiff so I have offered to call on their behalf. But some help from you guys would be great, the more knowledge I have the better. It says on the notice they will be back one morning this week. The normal BS to remove goods. Since it’s the council it’s either a parking ticket or business rates. His rates are paid by DD so it must be parking ticket. He is happy to pay for a parking ticket but they have added there fees on top. what is the best way of getting this back to the original charge assuming it is a ticket.
  16. Cutting a very long story short. Applying for ESA first time in January two letters were enclosed with the ESA50 form requesting a home visit and recording for a ESA F2F assessment. Received Maximus letter for ESA f2f assessment at beginning of April at one of their medical centres. Rang Maximus and told them there was no letter from them to give the reasons why a home visit was not granted. Was told by Maximus the DWP Decision Maker has disallowed the home visit. Rang DWP and told them Maximus said the DM has refused a home visit and and asked the reasons why. Was told by the DWP staff that is was wrong the DWP's DM do not make any decision with regards to home visit nor get involve with F2F assessment that is the job of Maximus their medical contractor. Went back to Maximus and told them what DWP said the appointment was cancelled. Received couple of phone calls from Maximus requesting a letter from the GP to back up the home visit request. GP faxed letter to Maximus stating cannot attend a f2f at a centre due to medical/clinical reasons. Maximus confirmed by phone that they have received the GP supporting letter at the beginning of May 2018 and was told they will send a letter of their decision about the home visit by four different staff. Received several letters to attend appointments at different dates from Maximus including a phone call to ring them very important and very urgently with regards to a f2f at their centre which was to take place some 3 weeks later strange. Each time received a phone call two days before the appointments due date to cancel appointments because their recording machine is broken and that it will take a very long time before hearing from them. Received another letter last week to attend yet another appointment at their centre at the beginning of July but still received no letter with regards to the home visit whether it has been granted or refused. Non of the cancellation letters stating appointments was cancelled because of broken recording machines it just said appointment rescheduled sorry for the inconvenience. Maximus has on record they've book for a Taxi as their making reasonable adjustment but send no letter stating that fact. New appointment letter had not stated a Taxi has been booked for the appointment it just said please attend 10 minutes before the appointment time. I'm looking for a template letter with regards to disability discrimination and harassment from Maximus/contractor and a sample letter under the equality act 2010 requesting a home visit with regards to Maximus making reasonable adjustments for a f2f assessment under the equality act. Any help will be appreciated.
  17. Hope I’m posting in the right place. I’ll try not to ramble too much. In April I ordered a bed frame and mattress from Perfect Home. The delivery men came and delivered the mattress and the frame in the box. They told me they’re not meant to leave it in the packaging but they would if I wasn’t ready to put it together. They left it in the box in my hallway. After disposing of my old bed I opened the box to see that only the headboard and footboard were in there. I called them the same day to tell them that there was no slats or sides to the bed. They apologised and said it had never happened before and that the delivery company would call to arrange on the coming Monday. They never called. I called back a couple of times and got told they’ll call back soon. Nothing. They took automatic weekly payment from my account x2 before I cancelled the direct debit. They started sending letters of arrears and home visit letters. I caught the representative at the door and told him and said I’d like them to take the product back as it’s useless to me if not complete. He apologised profusely. Removed arrears charges. And told me I’d be contacted to have the rest delivered by the next week. I agreed. It never came. He visited again in end of June/early July. Same thing. About a week after that the slats were delivered. Just the slats. Nothing to attach them too. So still useless and incomplete. I sent an email to customer services that wasn’t answered. So I thought I’d wait for another home visit. I received numerous texts saying I was in arrears and someone would be visiting the next day. I waited in several times even though my father was having emergency spinal surgery and no one came. 8 days ago I sent a 3rd email of complaint. Specifying that the product was still useless and that I can’t owe arrears on a credit agreement that is void. I dont know how they expect me to pay for a product I don’t have. I asked for a reply in writing either by post or email within 7 days or I would have to take it further. I got an email back saying apologies they’ll transfer it to arrears apartment they can’t deal with it because I’m in “arrears” but it is like To make a payment... blah blah. As of yet. Still no reply but I’ve received their usual ‘your account is in arrears’ text. I have been sleeping on the floor since April. The parts of the frame I do have are taking up space in the house. I have mental health problems and this is putting me under so much stress. My credit score has gone down as it shows I’ve defaulted. I’m sorry I couldn’t make this more concise. Thank you for reading. Please help I don’t know what to do next.
  18. I was unable to pay the mortgage for about 10 months, but then I got a new contract and was able to set up a standing order which was larger than the statutory amount. I decided to pay this larger amount in order to gradually reduce the size of the shortfall in a way that I could sensibly afford. Prior to my first default I was actually overpaying over a number of years, so that my 10 months gap was actually only 4.6 months on the balance sheet (this is acknowledged by the lender). I have already given Mortgages 2 my assurance, several times, that I will be able to overpay them every month over the full term of the mortgage. Despite this they have started legal proceedings to repossess my home. The really odd thing is that they started their proceedings against me after I had set up my standing order to pay them more than I needed to! They have now had 3 uninterrupted monthly payments and still have not stopped proceedings. They are using Moore Blatch and the court case is in early July. Mortgages 2 are no longer in the mortgage lending business, and are obviously keen to recover all of those pesky mortgages and get their hands on the money for whatever new venture they have up their corporate sleeves. My defence is based on exactly what I have told you here. But what can happen? Will a judge really allow me to be made homeless when I'm regularly paying a larger sum than I need to? This is crazy! Does anyone have any views on this?
  19. Hi guys I wonder if you could offer advice please Jbw enforcement agent appeared at my home this morning looking for my 21 year old son. I did not open the door no will i. 21. Hi need some advice on this please. I'll try to keep this brief basically we don't have allocated parking, you can't park close to the house as there's no road up to it so I need to park as closely as possible. I have asked the housing association many times for disabled parking and they've delayed and now their latest excuse is they need to survey the other tenants, why they need to ask other tenants when i'm the one asking for what I think is a reasonable adjustment? I'm not in a wheelchair but I do receive both elements of PIP and I do have a mobility scooter, some days the difference between parking as close to the house as possible and in the normal car park is whether I can leave the house or not (or possibly be able to get in the house when I get home). The HA have been fobbing me off since December and they claimed they would ask other tenants in January and they still haven't done so. Am I being unreasonable? I'm not asking for allocated parking just a yellow disabled parking bay. I have complained and written to them etc but nothing ever seems to happen, any advice gratefully received.
  22. Asking on behalf of someone I met earlier today. They moved into a council house 2 to 3 weeks back and have a problem with rats getting into the kitchen and bathroom via existing holes in the kitchen floor. Rats have been present in the rooms at the same time as the residents. The council advised they offer no free pest control service but the tenants can pay for the council to visit at a cost of nearly £50. Does the council not have a duty to deal with this as the problem was present when the tenancy started. And, if the council has such a duty, can someone quote the legislation so the tenants can take this back to the council. Thanks
  23. I signed up to AA home insurance February 2017. I paid circa £120 up front for the year. I moved house in November 2017. It was cheaper to go with someone else, so I called aa to cancel my existing policy and also cancelled my dd. It seems that they tried to auto renew me in february and failed to take an annual payment. I have post redirection but didnt receive any notification of this. I have now received a default notice and a request for monies. After speaking to their customer service manager they have promised to review their records to see if I did call or not. I cannot prove that I did as my phone doesnt go that far back. I am sure they have very clever t&c's but do I have a leg to stand on?

  25. My elderly mum 76 was very ill so I made an emergency GP appointment for my mother. I suspected she had pneumonia she was finding it difficult to breath, had immense aches and pains she was vomiting throughout the day. She was unable to stand up herself and was on the verge on collapsing. She had visibly got worse and worse as the day professed. Me and my brother struggled to get our mother into the car to get to the GP. My mother was in immense pain it was terrible. She was made to wait in the GP's waiting area for at least 20mins in great pain and her lungs were tightening up and restricted her breathing (no body from the GP's office took any notice of the state my mum was in). We were repeatedly told 'your will be next soon'...we struggled to get our mother to get up off her chair she had to be supported by me and my brother on each side getting her out of the house and into the car and from the GP car park inside the surgery. Eventually it was our turn and me and my brother held our elderly mother on each side and struggled to gather off the chair and to walk the distance along the corridor into the GP's room. Once inside the GP room.. .the GP just looked with a blank expression at my mum. ..my mother was struggling to breath and tell him she was struggling to breath and had a terrible burning sensation in her chest and terrible pain in her head as well as chest. Then GP checked my mums temp and heart rate and said my mums heart rate was a little high. The GP told my mum 'I'll give you antibiotics and go home and rest you should be ok.. .the antibiotics will take 24hrs to start working and if she gets worse you can call the ambulance' I turned around and said I think my mums got pnemonia and he said 'what makes you say that?'. ..I replied 'She's 76 she's been coughing for last 4 weeks but today she is on verge of collapsing finding it hard to breath..' then the DR used the stethoscope to check my mums lung and said 'She's got Pneumonia in the right lung' 'I suggest she goes home takes her antibiotics and rests'...I replied 'no I want her to go to hospital look at her state...' The GP gave us a letter and told us to go to the hospital with the letter to the 'Medical Assessment Unit 4'.. . I asked the GP can you please call the ambulance the GP turned around and said to me 'the ambulance I just like a taxi all they will do is take her to the hospital...you can take her in your car' I was left gobsmacked at his response...we struggled to get our mum out of the surgery not the car. At the hospital I went to main reception whilst the car was parked outside the main reception to the reception. There were 4 porters sat behind reception and I asked 'I need a wheel chair fort elderly mum, she's got pneumonia' The porter turned around (with 3 other porters sat around him) and told me 'go find the wheelchair yourself we have to do the same as you and look for a wheel chair. ..go find one somewhere in the hospital' I replied 'its your job to find a wheelchair, there's 4 of you sat in reception your porters' he looked at me and then instructed one if the porters to find a wheel chair. I needed the wheel chair to get my mum into the hospital from the car park. I turned around and saw my brother bringing in my mum into the reception, just as the porter was bro moving the wheel chair' We then went to the medical assessment 4 gave paperwork to a girl behind the counter who to is to wait in the ward on a chair instead of a bed. As 'no beds were available' we waited close to 2hrs my mum was in agony day on the chair. I went back to medical unit assessment reception told them my mums in agony with pneumonia she needs a bed asap. I was told again to wait. I saw a consultant walking towards me and told him 'my mums 76 she needs a bed asap'. He replied 'I'll go speak to someone for you' Eventually a health care worker came over snd said 'your GP sent you to the wrong ward. ..he should have sent you to ward 3 which is for elderly people'. I told my superior to send your mum to A&E and she over rode my decision, we are sending your mum to another ward and will find a bed for her' She got a wheelchair and took my mum to the other ward. ..where she was eventually a consultant came examined her too her blood pressure, heart rate and bloods and examined her chest. ..she said your mums got pneumonia I'll get her onto a bed asap. Eventually my mum was placed on the bed still in agony with her burning chest and difficulty in breathing, later she was placed on a drip for fluids as she look pale and very dehydrated. The next day I was told they had also given her antibiotics and the oxygen mask to loosen her lungs. I was told the bloods would be sent and looked at and a chest X-ray would be done the same night to determine what damaged if any happened to the lungs etc and the course of treatment. The next day I rang the hospital to enquire about my ma and was told 'she has a virul infection' when I got to the hospital the healthcare nurse dealing with my mum said 'it's not pneumonia but a viral infection.. .' I replied 'Our GP confirmed it as pneumonia' She replied 'it's a viral infection like people get it's common...' She said said we are waiting for her xrays which have been taken this morning (I was told the xrays would be taken last night!) She tells me 'your mums asking to go home, she's been walking independent...she'll be home today' I went to my mum and told her this is what the nurse is saying my mom said 'I never said I want to go home, why they sending me home I'm in agony. The nurse helped me get out of bed and helped me to the toilet' This healthcare worker kept denying my mum had pneumonia and it was just s viral infection. The way she came across was that she wanted my mom of of bed even though she was unconscious and in pain on the bed with pneumonia. They put the oxygen mask on her face again. Later in the evening I went back and the same healthcare nurse told me 'she's going home she had no pneumonia she's needs rest and to take her medicine at home. We asked for a wheel chair as my mom was not strong enough to walk ...the ward had become empty of healthcare workers who had disappeared too I asked a consultant who was passing through we need a wheelchair as my mum is being discharged. He rang the porters downstairs to ask for a wheel chair to be brought up. We waited 20 mins and nothing do I faked a nurse on the ward I need a wheelchair, she told me 'go to reception and find one yourself' I waited close to 30 mins and nothing do I faked another nurse who asked another nurse. My mom was sat on the bed still in agony. .. I went down to reception and the told the guy at reception 'I've been waiting for a wheelchair for over 40 mins'. He just looks at me and goes 'there's one behind you use that' I took the wheelchair to the ward gotynmum into it and took her home, The discharge letter confirms my mum has 'community related pneumonia' and the xrays showed some damaged or cackles in the lungs etc - complete opposite to what the healthcare assistant who was keen on my mum to leave kept sAying 'it's just a viral infection' My mum is 76 with pneumonia she's been sent home with medicines and antibiotics. She's ill and should never have been sent home until the pneumonia was cleared. What can I do to get justice with the horrendous way my mum has been treated and what action against the GP can I take and against the hospital? My mums health is important and I want justice even if it means taking the legal route and going to solicitors who deal in medical cases like these? Now everyone on the household is ill and coughing - my elderly father is coughing very badly and wheezing sometimes. The hospital and GP are to blame, why was my mum discharged if she at 76 still has pneumonia?
