  1. I took out a mortgage with the Money Store in 1999 and it was transferred by them to Platform Funding Limited later in 1999. Although I wasnt self employed then the Mortgage ppi was just added to the loan £1,825.80, I was never asked if I wanted it and it was an upfront payment. As a few months later I paid the mortgage off and subsequently the mortgage ppi. Is it too late to request the ppi back. I have the mortgage account number and I understand Platform is now owned by the coop? Who would you contact?
  2. I explained all of this to DWP, and their advice,,, obtain employment where I can work from home. Amazing.......

  4. Don't leave it too late to find out if you're eligible for financial help and support through Warm Home Discount schemes this winter. They are run by energy companies but tend to close in late November or early December. One in 10 of allhouseholds are eligible for some form of help with their energy bills. Those that qualify include low-income families, disabled, elderly and other vulnerable customers. http://www.homeheathelpline.org.uk/about/
  5. Hi All. I am having a real headache at the moment with homeinsure.co.uk / Thames bank insurance. Background: I split up from my ex-wife some time ago, but as we own a property together (wholly on my name) and no one else lives at the property, i still left some of my contents there as it is the safest place for them. This included some photography equipment, cycles etc. Additionally, all the bills etc on the property are on my name as i deal with anything official in relation to the property. The building is insured via a block management policy. History: Back in 2016
  6. I don't really think this is anything to do with the NHS but this seems to be where the Care Home funding issues are. I am sorry this is long-winded but am hoping it saves you having to ask questions. My mother has been cared for at home for many years by me and by carers. She is 98 and has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's for seven years. It is not getting any better as you may guess. After one fall of many caused a broken ankle last year she ended up first in our local hospital, then in a Rehabilitation Unit, then in an interim stay in a care home for assessment and re-enabling a
  7. Have a boiler policy with 24/7 home rescue. Never had a chance to use them in 14 months until recently. The boiler was making noises so they said they would send an engineer out and I need to pay the excess amount of £75 which I did via Credit card. The engineer has been this morning and says that pump is faulty and will cost £295 to change and I need to speak with 24/7. Called them and they said that they only cover 60% of the cost of the value of the boiler and they value the boiler at £250. So they won't cover this issue. I need the boiler fixed so called an independent engineer
  8. My dear Dad who served in WWII and worked all his life developed vascular dementia after suffering a stroke and eventually ended up in a care home. We applied for NHS Continuing Care and was passed from pillar to post as is the case for many. The only asset he had was the ex-council house which I helped him to buy [he had lived there for over 40 years at the time] with my mother. We bought the house as joint tenants in 1985. On my mother's death in 1991 we failed to inform the Land Registry of her death [not clued up at all about these things] so the house was then jointly owned b
  9. Hope this is the right place to post. My mother was diagnosed with alzheimers some years ago now and we have cared for her at home as much as we could but last year we had to put her into a care home. We have been trying to get her assessed for CHC funding so she doesn't have to pay for her care but we have been told lots of untruths and social services tried to find out how much money she has and if she owns her own house. We have told them that we will not tell them until she has been assessed. Now when she moved to the care home they said after about 6 week

  11. Hi everyone....so moving to a new area and having to end IR ESA and cancel HB and CTRelief. So new claim for UC in new area plus a new home. Can anyone tell me if once the UC has been applied for and is processing can the new landlord be made aware so they know the rent will be paid asap or will I have to be prepared to pay a month up front full rent until its sorted out. Sorry if this appears a stupid question but my whole world collapsed this week and I have to start completely again somewhere else.
  12. Hello everyone. Im new here, so I hope I am in the right place. I really dont know where to begin. I was paying my credit card off at a reduced rate until around 3 years ago when my debt was sold to Cabot who more than doubled my payments. It was too much for me to afford with no job, recently divorced and a young family to support. So I defaulted. Other than one letter from Cabot asking me for full payment of my debt, I have not received any further payment requests nor notifications of home visits during this time. I have lived at the same address for 6 years. I am in Northe
  13. Signed a solar panel maintenance Contract in home for 3K (deposit paid on CC), with no mention of 'cooling off' period. in Contract. So how how long do I have to cancel the Contract & recover my deposit (s75)?
  14. I will do my best to ask my question without making it too complicated. I have 14 separate diagnosis. I live currently in the home I raised my children in, which was recently transferred from the council to a housing association. All my children have left home. I have carers coming in to help with personal care and domestic tasks and taking me out into the community, i.e. shopping, coffee out, for 7 hrs per week, the remainder of the time I am at home, in doors and extremely lonely. It is having a real impact on some of my diagnosis. I have a friend that is returning from outside the
  15. Hi all, Great to see some current posts in this thread. I to have had a letter from CLI re a Kuwait debt. This is one of many companies that have tried to connect with me that i have ignored. HOWEVER! They've chased me from moving house, and the latest letter says they are sending a debt collector around in 7 days. Is this just another scare tactic? This has been going on for years now.
  16. My friend has just got a bailiff final notice letter through his door on Monday but it is for his son. Or should I say, His son business. His sons registered business address is at his dads’ home. So, I have assured him that as long as you don’t open the door the bailiff cannot enter your property as it is a private dwelling belonging to him and not his son and they cannot drill the locks either, it’s just a bluff to get you to open the door and pay someone else debt The final notice just says client XXXXX borough council. For the value of £423. I have spoken to the son who has no recolle
  17. Cutting a very long story short. Applying for ESA first time in January two letters were enclosed with the ESA50 form requesting a home visit and recording for a ESA F2F assessment. Received Maximus letter for ESA f2f assessment at beginning of April at one of their medical centres. Rang Maximus and told them there was no letter from them to give the reasons why a home visit was not granted. Was told by Maximus the DWP Decision Maker has disallowed the home visit. Rang DWP and told them Maximus said the DM has refused a home visit and and asked the reasons why. W
  18. Hope I’m posting in the right place. I’ll try not to ramble too much. In April I ordered a bed frame and mattress from Perfect Home. The delivery men came and delivered the mattress and the frame in the box. They told me they’re not meant to leave it in the packaging but they would if I wasn’t ready to put it together. They left it in the box in my hallway. After disposing of my old bed I opened the box to see that only the headboard and footboard were in there. I called them the same day to tell them that there was no slats or sides to the bed. They apologised and said it had never happ
  19. I was unable to pay the mortgage for about 10 months, but then I got a new contract and was able to set up a standing order which was larger than the statutory amount. I decided to pay this larger amount in order to gradually reduce the size of the shortfall in a way that I could sensibly afford. Prior to my first default I was actually overpaying over a number of years, so that my 10 months gap was actually only 4.6 months on the balance sheet (this is acknowledged by the lender). I have already given Mortgages 2 my assurance, several times, that I will be able to overpay the
  20. Hi guys I wonder if you could offer advice please Jbw enforcement agent appeared at my home this morning looking for my 21 year old son. I did not open the door no will i. Son is not here at the moment but i do have a bed wardrobe ect in my dinning room for him to use if he was to be here - no belonging other then some clothes and odd toiletries and no car in his name. Notice just says enforcement for warrant £616 And a ref number . phoned son who told me to open his mail and discovered letters about non payment of dart charge from march this year.

  22. Hi need some advice on this please. I'll try to keep this brief basically we don't have allocated parking, you can't park close to the house as there's no road up to it so I need to park as closely as possible. I have asked the housing association many times for disabled parking and they've delayed and now their latest excuse is they need to survey the other tenants, why they need to ask other tenants when i'm the one asking for what I think is a reasonable adjustment? I'm not in a wheelchair but I do receive both elements of PIP and I do have a mobility scooter, some days the
  23. Asking on behalf of someone I met earlier today. They moved into a council house 2 to 3 weeks back and have a problem with rats getting into the kitchen and bathroom via existing holes in the kitchen floor. Rats have been present in the rooms at the same time as the residents. The council advised they offer no free pest control service but the tenants can pay for the council to visit at a cost of nearly £50. Does the council not have a duty to deal with this as the problem was present when the tenancy started. And, if the council has such a duty, can someone quote the legis
  24. I signed up to AA home insurance February 2017. I paid circa £120 up front for the year. I moved house in November 2017. It was cheaper to go with someone else, so I called aa to cancel my existing policy and also cancelled my dd. It seems that they tried to auto renew me in february and failed to take an annual payment. I have post redirection but didnt receive any notification of this. I have now received a default notice and a request for monies. After speaking to their customer service manager they have promised to review their records to see if I did call or not. I can
