  1. Hi All Atm I am currently on this ESA and as always you get called in from time to time for an assessment and they decide if your fit or not... even if your still in a certain degree of pain... So I am working on a back up plan if the DWP decides " I'm fit for work " Can anyone offer me some advice of becoming self employed as a HGV driver for a living... What is the process for setting up... Ive been reading up about registering the company with companies house, then HMRC for Tax & VAT or simply get a local accountant to do all of this for a fee..... Primary registrar wit
  2. A question rather than a rant I hope. We've some pretty disruptive roadworks in progress at the moment here, there's notice from a few miles out of a lane closure and then the usual warnings and speed restrictions. Alongside all of these signs are several that instruct people to queue in both lanes and merge at the very head of the queue. This works quite well mostly, the queue moves albeit there's the odd premium german saloon driver that refuses to let anyone in and the disruption, although annoying (taking a 3 minute drive up to a 25/30 minute one) is manageable. Until, a HGV
  3. The DVLA appear to have taken my HGV license away from me. I am a type 2 diabetic and have to take insulin. There is supposed to be three stages, regarding getting your license back. The DVLA have only done two stages and taken my license away, without going to the third stage, where you see an independant consultant who specialises in diabetes. I have emailed the DVLA on several occasions, but just get told it is with a team of people and that it takes a long time to answer. I have been waiting for about 7 months overall and I have also been told that I can go to a Magistrates court. The only
  4. I'm a freelance HGV driver, now self employed but at the time of the alleged offence I was paye with an agency. It was brought to my attention today that I have started paying, through deductions on my invoice, for a parking ticket I allegedly received whilst working. On questioning the agency, it seems that the client I was working for have paid the ticket, and I'm expected to reimburse them, although I am not happy and wish to contest the ticket. Is this possible, considering I am alleged to have been the driver on the day but I am not the vehicles keeper and the fine has been paid? Now
  5. My son is applying for his provisional HGV for work, new system. We are not getting any help from the DVLA, no surprises there then. A couple of questions 1/ They want his full car license, do they want both paper and plastic. 2/ They ask if he has any offenses, he has a couple from 8 years ago, does he have to declare these or are they SB even though they still show on his paper license. The so called 'guide' is not clear. Many thanks if you can help Lex
