  1. Hello, I bought some nice glasses around 3 months ago from Boot the Opticians. After 2 weeks the left arm came off (they are sort of 'clip ins' with no screws). It then started happening regularly, then the left lens became unclipped from the nose bridge. They are now so wonky and wobbly that i can't even clean them without the arm or lens coming off. I read reviews on NHS Choices about Boots the optician and there's 15 pages with virtually all giving negative responses, and plenty with arm issues. They also state that Boots don't seem to want to help. Am i right in thinking there is no warranty with glasses? It seems head office and the opticians in question are getting people to too and fro between them. I wish i had looked at the reviews beforehand. Do i have the right to demand a refund as they are at the point where they aren't wearable. I bought these in good faith and paid £260+ on my debit card. I haven't as yet approached them and would be grateful for any advice on exactly how to approach them regarding law and retailers obligations. I think these must have been made in China they are that flimsy and other people have also had problems clipping them back together for me. TIA P.S. if anyone is going to Boots the Optician please read reviews online first.
  2. On the 27th November 2015, I ordered a pair of glasses from Glasses Direct (online) - which were shipped out on the 29th Nov, and I received them on the 2nd December. On the 24th December, I pushed my glasses up my nose, and they felt "wobbly". I took them off to look at them, and they came apart in my hands. (broken at the connection from the bridge to the lens rim). Now, the issue is, that with them being closed over the Christmas period, I'm over my 30 days right to reject (which I wouldn't have been had the business been closed). I did email them on the 24th requesting a full refund, but am awaiting a call to them when they re-open. Do I have my rights protected if the company isn't contactable in the period where I'd need to return them>?
  3. I qualify for a NHS glassses voucher and specsavers sent me a £40 off glasses voucher with their catalogue. Does anyone know if I can use this specsavers voucher with my NHS free glasses voucher? It says 'cannot be used with other offers', but I would argue the NHS voucher is not a special offer. Has anyone had experience with this? Thanks
  4. Hi all I dont know if I have posted this in the right place, or if anyone will be able to help me. Im posting this on behalf of friend, who is quite upset with some glasses that she recently purchased to the value of £500. She felt that she was pressured into buying a rimless framed pair of glasses. She was invited into the shop for a free consultation with a representitve from Shilhouette. They then showed my friend frameless glasses who was very apprehensive about that sort of styles as she usually buys framed glasses. She decided to go for a pair of the glasses but had to wait over a month for the as she was unsure about having the frameless so they put a tint around the edge of the glasses. When she finally recieved them, she feels that the lens is too low and also too big and she really doesnt like them. Is there anything she could do? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks
