Hi guys, I've recently received a parking charge notice from the Swansea based Millennium Parking Services. They have asked for £60 with the charge increasing to £100 after 14 days. I am currently a student, so I don't have the money to pay for this and I feel conned. I was using the street to park for my regional rugby training sessions in Llandarcy academy of sport. They don't always have someone blocking the carpark entrance but when they do they don't let me in even if I tell them that my team trains here!! There were no road markings or clear signage for me to know that it was a permit holders only area, if there was, it was 6pm in november and I did not see them, meaning they were inadequately lit! What action should I take from here? Any advice is greatly appreciated! Just received a renewal notice for my Drivers Digital Tacho Card (expires mid Nov) As I am now retired, I do not plan to drive lorries any more, and indeed do not have a valid Drivers CPC Is it necessary to tell DVLA, there is no place to do so on the form, only to renew or just cancel/destroy on renewal date?

This is so very wrong - back in 2001 the Labour Government encouraged the purchase of Diesel vehicles, reducing diesel and pumping money into the industry. i know most of them are decent but there seems to be the odd few that aren't demonstration point is the video below first issue - 55mph when his limit should be 40 second issue he's lucky those two cars weren't seconds later it must be something in the water because this is the 3rd dashcam video i've uploaded this week...

I have a disabled son confined to a wheelchair (he is unable to drive), we are in the process of getting him a motability wheelchair accessible vehicle, my question is as follows. Motability will insure me and normally insure one other driver, in this case my 22 year old able bodied son who lives very close to his disabled brother, so he was going to be the main driver. The problem we have is motability will not insure my son as he has a motoring offence (driving without Insurance) which is over 3 years old so not on his licence. Motability have said as it is less than 5 years they can not insure my son. Is is possible for me to purchase a separate insurance policy for my son to drive this car, or is that not allowed? Grateful for guidance of any experts out there. Regards

Today I received a court summons for failing to identify the driver from a speeding ticket I received at work in last august. The problem is, at the time I was technically homeless (sleeping on friends/family's sofas) but using my dad's address so missed the first letters. Then I found a room to rent last September, changed the address on my driving licence and receive the letter, which I filled in and sent off just before Christmas so I thought it was done. Now I have a court summons for failing to identify the driver. Twice I have admitted I was the driver. Once when they sent the form to my work place and once when they sent it to my address. Now I've had to move out of the room I was renting because my landlord wanted the room back, but my licence is still on that address What should I do? I don't want to plead guilty to something I haven't done. Any advice -
Just to advise drivers to be aware of the BP 5p/litre saving on fuel. To achieve this reduction you have to purchase two food items from a small list. MAKE SURE THE COST OF THE TWO ITEMS IS NOT MORE THAN YOUR FUEL SAVINGS.

Hi Guys, my partner has received a notice for her details from the police for an alleged "action" in a car park used by mums picking up kids from pre-school. it states the Application is for the drivers details for alledged driving dangerously, carelessly or without consideration for other persons, contrary to sections 2 and 3 of the road traffic act 1988. They want the details of the driver on the date of the incident before they say anything else about the alleged offence. Their form is leading as if you fill it out it confirms you were driving (2 months ago) but either of us rarely drive as we live within a 3 minute walk. even if my partner did, which she cant remember - what does this mean, what are our rights? The Highways Agency is encouraging road users to spend a few minutes making sure they, and their vehicle, are fully prepared for severe weather. You might think that most of their advice is blindingly obvious, but a survey showed that: Many motorists (45%) don’t do any winter checks at all on their vehicle Nearly two-thirds of drivers (63%) do not check their anti-freeze, oil or water before setting off on a winter journey Less than half (41%) said they checked their lights were working before setting out. Just over half (53%) of drivers don’t have warm clothes in their car in case of emergency. Fewer than half (42%) of drivers carry de-icer in their vehicle. Almost two-thirds (64%) don’t carry drinking water. Only a third (33%) carry a warm drink, around the same number (32%) take food, and (37%) said they packed a blanket. I tried to get insurance from the cheapest quote on GoCompare.com, which was for £800 from "4 Young Drivers". I called them and quoted the reference number, to which the chap on the phone told me that the price on the website was just the "referral price" and that I would never get that price. Instead he said I would be paying around £1,600!!! (My last years insurance was £600!!) Having contacts in the travel industry, I know exactly how this works, and these insurance companies use compare websites to drive calls, then find any possible reason to come away from the advertised price so they can charge additional fee's on top. I tried to explain this on the phone but the guy hung up the phone. I have emailed a complaint to GoCompare, and also to "4 Young Drivers", but their mailbox bounces back. Should I take this up with the ASA? EDIT: I did get insurance with the next cheapest company without any issues at all. However it is more expensive. -
Many drivers face a fine of £1,000 if they fail to update their photo-card driving licences, according to the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency. It started issuing photo-card licences 15 years ago and more than 30 million drivers now have one. These are usually valid for 10 years and there is a legal requirement for drivers to renew the photograph at the same time as they renew their licence. However, two million drivers have failed to do this. And this means they could be fined up to £1,000 should they be pulled over by the police, who then discover that the photo and licence is out of date. Even failing to notify the DVLA that you have changed address could be costly. Photo-card driving licences are set to become mandatory in 2015, when new paper licences are officially phased out. Link

Hi Techies, I have a quick issue that is bogging me and not much help coming from Mr Google either. I will explain. I have just been handed an old work Laptop for my personal use – Model is a DELL LATITUDE E4310 Laptop. I have put a Windows 7 OS Build on it but simply cannot get the Wireless Network to function. I guess I need Drivers for this. The Wireless Software is missing so I cannot get the Laptop to pick up the List of Wireless Network Routers Around me either as there is no Wireless Software on the Laptop. The Bluetooth Software is fine. I have been on Google to Download the Network Drivers for that model of Laptop but got these drivers that only ended up to be lots of Spywares and Adds of all sorts. A waste of time really. Dell website has not been as helpful either. Can someone point me in the direction of where to get Wireless Network Drivers Software for a Dell Latitude E 4310 Laptop Model Please? Thanks all. -

Hello everyone im looking for some help if possible please i work for a tyre wholesale company there is 10 drivers all together and everyone of us have had enough of they way we are being treated by our employer and would like some legal advice please. We work 8am-5.30pm mon-fri & 8am-1pm every saturday so 52.5 hours a week the company only allow us 30mins break a day yet we all believe that they deduct 1 hour a day from our wages for breaks. Not 1 of us have a employment contract when we all started we were made to sign the back of a booklet agreeing to the policy's in that book we have nothing stating what our hourly rate of pay is etc or anything like that, we have asked a number of times and just told your contract is the booklet Also we are being told that any damage that happens on the work vans the drivers MUST pay a £500 excess charge from his bonus. Can they legally take money from us for accidents when we are on minimum wage ??? Also the manager of the depot took his son on as a store boy 2 years ago and the place has turned into a father and son business well they seem to think so e has given his son promotions without asking or advertising the new positions when there are better people for the job is this allowed ? Also with our wages we believe we are on minimum wage we get a so called bonus every month and a attendance bonus of £50 if we miss 1 day in that month we loose the attendance bonus we are also concerned about health and safety there the place is very badly run and we dont know what to do so any help would be great thanks in advance -
My drivers license picture expired in 2011, before i could have a new photo done my license was stolen (home invasion) i have yet to have it done. The problem, i dont have my old license to send back and its only just come to me that i havent had it done! As i say, i was subject to a brutal home invasion where i was stabbed multiple times and almost killed in my home. I suffer from severe PTSD to this day because of it. Ive only just remembered that the photo was out of date after reading a thread on here about it....it had totally gone out of my mind. I had more pressing issues, ie moving and trying to sort my head out. My license was in my wallet, which was stolen at the time. How do i go about getting a new photo license? I cant send the old one as it was stolen, i reported this to the DVLA shortly after the incident as far as i can remember, as well as the police for obvious reasons. I dont remember them sending me any forms, im sure i looked into it before but found it was a hassle and forgot about it until now!!! I cant even remember if i told them my new address....im sure i did, but i cannot be certain. A long time has passed, and now im worrying il get in trouble for not renewing the picture. I was moved by the council as i could not bare going back to the place i almost lost my life, it was apparently like a scene from a horror movie, blood splattered walls, trails of blood....i was told this by my parents who went to clear my property. Can i do it online? Should i call them? More stress i dont really need, but i feel it is something that needs dealing with ASAP now i realize i havent had it done. Its not one of those things you remember at the best of times, let alone after what i went through. I dont have a passport anymore as that ran out in 2012...so i dont think i can do it online. I have lived at my property for less than 3 years...i dont have the drivers license number as it was stolen Thanks in advance

Insurers caught snooping on credit files to make poor drivers pay more for car cover than rich ones Britain’s biggest insurers are conducting secret credit checks on drivers and using data to pinpoint claims hotspots in a bid to hike premiums. These tactics supposedly give the firms more detailed information about what kind of driver you are. But increasingly they threaten to push up prices to even more eye-watering levels. The tricks are revealed as fears grow that perfectly valid insurance claims are being kicked out simply based on a gut feeling that drivers are lying about claims. Your credit record contains all your personal information including your history of repaying credit cards, debts and even mobile phone bills. The theory is that drivers with low credit scores are more likely to struggle to cover the cost of repairing a car — and so would be more likely to claim. ‘This is appalling. Insurers are saying poorer people are riskier,’ says Marc Gander, founder of campaign organisation Consumer Action Group. ‘I doubt there are any proper statistics to prove this. It is just insurers looking for another way of grabbing more of our cash.’ It is understood that trade body the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) is so concerned about the trend it has launched an investigation into how insurers are using these personal details. Graeme Trudgill, head of corporate affairs at BIBA, says: ‘Already if you are unemployed your insurance premiums will be higher because the insurer will believe statistically you may struggle to maintain your car.
