  1. Hi everyone. I'm hoping I might be able to glean some information and guidance from this great community. The problem is one you may have heard many times involving benefits and concerns my daughter: Factoids My daughter is 22 years old and lives with 1- year old daughter and fiance in two-bed Sanctuary Housing flat (council housing association). Fiance has no income and is on a company training course with the promise of a job at the end of February. This is their first home and lived there since May 2018. Father (me) is also her Power of Attorney - she has severe mental health issues and I speak to authorities regarding her bills on her behalf. Benefits ESA (currently in receipt of payments but in review) Child Tax credits My daughter made her first application for housing benefit in May but here we are in November and still waiting for a single payment. The keep asking for more information and then tell her she needs to reapply because her ESA payment may be affected. She's been passed from pillar to post several times now and she's concerned about demands for Council Tax and rent which she's fallen behind on paying. Now she has received a letter telling her she has to see someone to review her ESA at the end of November, so any payments for other benefits (Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit) will be on hold until December at least. Predictably, I'm certain if the ESA is resolved and maintained Housing Benefit et al., will make her reclaim again taking her into January or February of 2019. Her mum and I are helping her in any way we can to keep her from caving into demands and stress. However, I find it disgraceful how a young mum and daughter can do the right thing in getting a home and being a family, yet be so disgustingly treated by the authorities there to assist her. I can see no end to this merry-go-round of passing the book and it's six months since making her application for Benefits and she still has not received a penny. If anyone can offer any guidance I would be very grateful! Many thanks for reading. Craig
  2. hi everyone, my daughter is 18 years old on the 5th November this year 2017. my brother who recently passed away left my daughter aprox 19 thousand pounds in isa,s which she can cash in on her 18th birthday if she wishes to. my question is will my daughters inhereitence affect my benefits if she cashes her isa, s or if she leaves where they are. my daughter is at colledge for another 2 years then at uni for another 3 years. I receive esa, pip, and housing benefit and I retire next dec 1st. many thanks in advance.
  3. Probably a common story my daughter is over twenty thousand pounds in debt, lived with a bloke who made promises after promise, had a child with him then finally saw the light but had kept mum & dad in the dark as it was too embarrasing so too late. She organised a dmp with step change now lloyds are saying their agreement only lasted six months, and want to increase her payments, she earns just over 16k before tax but rent is 695.00 food etc on top so bank of mum and dad have stepped in to buy food and clothes. told my wife and I to take custody of her daughter now I feel I must step in and see what if anything I can do, not impressed with Lloyds because they are threatening baliffs etc, but she owns nothing, tv in her house is a loner from me, bike she rides to work is her sisters, no sky etc, laptop loaner as well. they just do not seem to comprehend you can not get blood from a stone. She works believe it or not for an fca company and states if she gets a ccj etc she will lose her job which is why she did a dip. Can any one advise me what I could do for her, I was going to write to Lloyds and say you are causing her extreme distress and can not get blood from a stone but feel sure there must be someithing more formal I could write. They are aware of her circumstances and frankly I feel that they trapped her into this cycle by offering overdrafts to pay loans they knew she could not afford. it is not the banks fault however, it is the waste of space she called a boyfriend who sat on his arse whilst I helped pay the rent etc even after his child was born, not going to see her homeless after all. She was an idiot to fall for his lies but now I have to try and fix things as best I can so any advise would be welcome. :mad2:
  4. Our daughter got married and had her reception at our local golf club. The venue seemed perfect until the actual day. The photographs at the venue where restricted due to the golf. What and where we could have photos taken was not allowed on the day. We had 26 children on a very hot day banned from leaving the venue as they may upset the golfers. None of this was told us at any meetings. When the food was served they served the back tables and the top table the last. The pate was a sloppy mess The food was cold - the roast beef was dry and the turkey was chewy. The functions manager screeched in my face over the table plan not being right. - turned out that a table of 12 guests had not liked the table they had been given so swapped tables. Which I had not been told. She was not in control at many points during the service. We had 106 sit down guests and only 3 people working and serving the food. We have been charged for 20 bottles of red/white wine but 4 tables never got any wine? they can't account for where these went. On the top table where I was sat we had 1 bottle of red - 2 bottles of rose which was for the bride and groom as I only drink white. The food would have been perfect if it was hot but over 10 of our guests have complained. The Toast - myself and the grooms father were given 1 glass of prosecco between the 2 of us. When I asked for a glass the functions manager snapped at me for the second time. The meal took so long to be served my brother who is a diabetic had a hypo and was taken ill in the toilet. It ended up he had to go home as he was to ill to continue. During the service the Function Manager approached me again to say that there were 3 people with no meals and why?? I had emailed her the 3 meals the night before as I was unable to get her by phone as she was in a meeting. She had not read her emails. She was again rude to me. When serving the prosecco to one of the tables they had been buying their own prosecco. She refused them 10 glasses as she said they already had it. Even though it was their own bottle. The FM - approached me after the cake was cut to say she was so sorry but she had inadvertently cut the top tier. She has since lied to her boss and said that there was no arrangement in place for the top tier not to be cut. But the meeting the night before we went through it with her. She cut up 3 tiers of cake and denied that we asked her not to. When we collected the cake in the morning it was wrapped in foil all stuck together and cannot be given to guests at all. Its just a mushed up mess. At the evening recption the FM had a run in with my cousin over the fact he has brought his own alcohol into the building. I asked her to leave him to me and I would get him to leave. But she wouldn't leave it for me to sort the situation and ended up in confrontation with him. He has a volatile temper and if not handled properly he can become aggressive. I managed to calm the situation, in which he handed over the alcohol and left the reception. She has however told her boss that I condoned the situation and did little to help. This is a downright lie and what I managed to do was get a person to leave the reception without any trouble. Our evening buffet - I asked for a buffet for only 60 people knowing my family and having had over 20 years experience in functions. The FM was against a buffet for only 60 people. She did not give me a choice. The buffet was served at 8.30 only 2 hours after the main meals had finihed. People were just not hungry. By 9pm she was clearing the food. Some of the guests asked to take some of the buffet home and we said yes. When they tried to take the food the FM told them to leave it as it was being taken away. There was at least 30-40% of food being taken away. Trays of sausage rolls, quiches, pork pies, salad etc. I tried on several occasions to calm the FM down and she just snapped at me. She was just not in control. The upshot of all this is we are so unhappy with the service. The food etc. We have asked that we are compensated for the top tier to be replaced as they cut it. They have said no. We asked for a refund of the food that we lsot due to wastage - after telling her we only wanted a buffet for 60 people and not 100. They have said no. They undercharged us by 10 bottles of Merlot - but which tables got it as many of our guests said they had no wine. They also claim that they undercharged us by 11 glasses of prosecco. In 7 days the bill has risen by £159.49. Having already paid £3060 we still owe for the evening buffet of £732 and the £159.49. We have explained our unhappiness with the venue and the functions manager but the owner doesn't want to know. He has refferred the matter his solicitor to pursue it in the small claims court. We are prepared to go to court but doesn anyone have any avice for us?
  5. Hi Guys, My 20 year old daughter's Ex asked her to obtain a washing machine, though a Catalogue in her name, as a birthday present for his mum. They were living together at the time, had been for a while and he intended to pay for it in full, but needed a short time to raise the funds so doing it this way allowed him that time. The item was duly delivered and installed at his mothers address. Shortly after this was all arranged their relationaship broke down. He promised to continue to pay for the machine and in fact made payments to the cataloague in order to show willing. However, these payments never showed on the catalogue account and when challenged he claimed problems with his bank or that the money had been taken from his bank but wasn't showing on her account and the bank was investigating. This is all she has on this catalogue and only took it out to be able to order the machine She doesn't earn a great deal and has struggled to make the payments herself, so consequently they have begun debt recovery with her. She has repeatedly asked him to pay and he has refused, blocked all communication from her and avoids her in the street. The machine remains at his mothers and she is happily using it knowing her son has caused this distress and hardship to my daughter. So I need advice as to how I can help her go about taking action against him, to recover the money owed, so she can pass this onto the catalogue company and clear the debt?
  6. Hi, I have a question regarding Marstons Bailiffs, I am acting on behalf of my daughter here. Marstons have pushed a red letter saying final notice and that they will be bringing a locksmith and gave her 24 hours to raise £685 or they will enter and take belongings. I myself rang the bailiff and offered no payment plan at all and that he will come to collect the following day. The following day I rang the magistrates court at South Tyneside and found out that the fines were for 1. Non payment of metro fines. 2. Non payment of TV Licence. For the metro fines we are willing to pay that but have not had the chance too as he wont take payments. As for the TV licence my daughter has had no letters or anything stating she had to go to court or to enter a plea. She has had nothing at all. I then asked about the signed declaration on the phone regarding the TV licence and asked if we could swear we havent recieved any mail so we could act upon this. She told me that you cannot do this no more as the law has changed. So she then replied that even if the TV licence was delayed and given the chance to defend herself, the Metro fines would still stand and the bailiffs would still come. She then gave us 7 days to sort this statement out with North Tyneside Magistrates. I have sent that magistrates an email regarding that we would like to do this and what to do next. The problem is now we have til Wed 3rd Feb 2016 til the bailiffs may come back as the 7 days were up. We are in a position now that time is running out and we dont know how to go about the declaration regarding the tv licence. For the metro fines we have the money and are willing to pay, but the tv licence we are asking to be given more time to pay as we have had no warning. I was wondering do I go to courts and see the fines officer, phone the bailiff (Which is no good as it's like getting blood out of a stone). I have offerd the bailiff £500 to cover the fines even though I dont know the full amount of just the metro fines alone without the tv licence and he outright refused and have saved the text message with this conversation just incase. I have also emailed Marstons themselves pleading that i require more time and set up a payment plan but no response. I am just wondering if I could ask for some advice on perhaps any next steps to take regarding paying the metro fines off and getting this sworn statement for the tv licence or my current rights if I have any regarding the bailiffs entering. I have the final notice if required to look at. I thank you for looking and I hope someone could aid us in this matter and please ask any questions that are required.

  8. Hiya back again.... My daughter has Anorexia Nervosa and Depression. She isn't in full time education as she has become too weak to do any work. She's 17 and weighs around 39kg (that's a bit over 6 stone). I wanted to apply for Personal Independent Payment. She's had difficulties with her eating since she was about 9, but in the past 18 months - 2 years she now has severe Anorexia Nervosa and we are waiting to see if she is going to be hospitalized. Would she be able to get P.I.P? I mean, does her diagnosis warrant P.I.P? It is a nightmare. Trying to buy the right sort of foods that she will eat, throwing food away or just not being able to get her to eat at all. She might fancy a takeaway and I jump at it, just so she eats something. The thing is, she had to leave college, she was too exhausted to attend and couldn't concentrate. I've been told by child tax credit that even though she intends to return to education in September, they only allow 3-6 months for illness and as its 7 months to September, she no longer qualifies for Child Tax Credit or probably Child Benefit. This means I have to support her on my DLA and ESA. Not that I mind, but what could be worse for the benefit system to do? Take away the money that pays for the food that she needs to get well again,....... WTG Guys!!! Sorry I'm ranting again lol Believe it or not, my actual question is, is Anorexia Nervosa and Depression are they a meritable reason to claim PIP??? Anyone got any ideas, please share Cheers :o)
  9. Hi all. I have a question to put to you all if I may. I am on ESA and receive PIP as well plus housing benefit. My disabled daughter gets DLA which we put in her bank account as it's her money. I think you can only have £6000 savings and a child £3000, she nearly has that now so I do not know what I can do with her money we do not want to spend it willy nilly on rubbish so what can we do legally? Any help will be gratefully received.
  10. Good afternoon all you employment gurus. My daughter is 23 weeks pregnant and has had to be admitted to hospital with Labour pains. Her partner has had to take time off work to look after the other kids as they cannot get other help as yet. He has to take tomorrow off work and his employer is demanding that HE find cover. Now, he has had a few days off with sickness (this is in part due to his job working with adults with severe learning difficulties) and the manager wants to convene an absence meeting. The main issue is that he is being penalised by his employer for taking urgent time off. Anybody know what his rights are. He has only been there just over a year.

  12. Hello, my daughter recently started a new job (5th Nov) however all is not well. She has become quiet and subdued because although she needs the job she is being bullied (Imo) by a manager. In short, she was told to report to work half an hour early for a week for training, she was told this was not optional and that she would not be paid for the extra time, she was advised by another worker not to ask for payment for the extra time because she would be sacked. She has been told she must be available on facebook in the evenings in order to receive any instructions for work the following day. A few days ago the manager said my daughters results were not good enough and she was removed from her colleauges and put in a room on her own for the day, she works in telesales by the way. There's more but I'll leave it there, I don't want to bore anyone. I suspect when lots of people are unemployed it's easy times for bad employers. I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts or advice, I'm getting quite upset about her situation myself. Thanks in anticipation.
