  1. Hey All. I am currently on ESA and have been with Ingeus for 18 months. I have done all the in house courses and my advisor is now banging on about other courses that could help me, with outside providers ie: College courses. There is one course I have agreed to do which is with another training provider (the qualification will help me in the long run). My advisor pulled out this form to sign which was written in 'legal speak' ie: completely incomprehensible to the average person. I told him I don't understand this but he assured me I was simply agreeing to do the course. My 'suspicion radar' went into overdrive and I told him I would sign it just before the course started and not now. If I sign this form and it turns out I have unwittingly agreed to do a fortnightly job search (ESA claimants are not mandated to do this) as part of the agreement, what happens if I refuse to do the job search? Or am I just been paranoid?! Thanks. Mooney.
  2. I have learnt the it is the governments intention to allow learndirect ( a profit making college that sells educational courses) to force the unemployed to take its courses and pay for them out of their benefits whether they want to take them or not or lose their entire benefits. I don't know about you but this looks to me like a massive failure of human rights and makes a mockery of any pretence that consumers are protected in the UK. How can they do this? This is like me arriving at your door to tell you that unless you buY this CAR/TV FROM ME YOU WILL LOSE YOUR INCOME BY LAW!
  3. Hi Folks - Have been entered for an advanced tree felling course at my place of work , but my employer says if I leave in a certain period - I have to pay back the course . And wants me to sign a document to this effect . Provision and Use of Work Equipments Regs says otherwise I believe and there is nothing about this in my Works contract - yr thoughts ........ Q
  4. I don't know if this info has been posted before but it's particularly relevant to anyone who keeps getting sent on CV courses by their provider. Here http://intensiveactivity.wordpress.com/2013/08/16/employment-related-courses/
