The background: My son, in his first years insurance, had an accident (his fault) in May this year. His car was a write off and he was paid out. The broker (My Policy) called him (before the actual payout) and told him that he needed to get a new car within 21 days or the policy will be cancelled. I have checked this with the actual insurers T&C's - no mention of 21 days but does say it will be cancelled if not transferred to another vehicle. He said that was not in a position to get a new vehicle so they advised to cancel the policy. Fast forward to yesterday. He receives a 'demand' from the Insurance Collection Bureau for £90. He emailed My Policy to find out what this was about and they replied £40 cancellation fee + the ICB admin fee. The thing is they replied to his email within the hour and said they had listened to the recording of the call and he was made aware of the £40 charge - we have asked for a copy of this recording. Aside from this My Policy have never made any request for the funds, the last communication he had with them was the the above phone call. We have also asked for copies of all the requests for payment they have made. Anyone come across this scenario before.

A friend of mine has been contacted by the Motor Insurance Bureau via snail mail with a letter claiming that she was involved in a accident in December of last year regarding an Uninsured Drivers Agreement. The letter reads Does any body have experience dealing with the MIB, as my friend assures me that she was indeed insured on the date mentioned and that she was no where near the location that is stated in the letter for where this 'accident' supposedly occurred, she hasn't been involved in any accidents since purchasing this vehicle and has asked me for assistance for what she should do next. If any one could give me any advice for her it would be greatly appreciated.

I had a horrendous house fire and made an insurance claim in the usual way. The insurance company was very helpful. Five weeks into the claim I received an e mail from a claim investigator asking for a meeting. I was happy to meet with him. He said he had received notification through the insurance fraud bureau that I deliberately set my home on fire and proceeded to interrogate me. Needless to say that call was malicious and unfounded and they continued with the claim five weeks later. I am anxious to find out who made this call as it has had a profound adverse affect on my family, and has lead to my wife having a breakdown. Any ideas? Thanks for your time

Hi In March 2014 we had an offer accepted on our property and a new place we wanted to put an offer on. We were slightly pressured into using a Mortgage Advice Bureau and thats when things went adrift. I work for a company that i own over 25% of the shares in so i am classed as self employed. They decided to package up my mortgage with another financial company Brightstar Finance who deal with tricky cases. We received a DIP and things started proceeding. we ended up paying £95 to the Mortgage Advice Bureau for their services and £644 to Brightstar. We kept chasing and responses were slow after some time we were told that the original lender they had declined the mortgage and they had not responded as they were looking for another. They settled on GE Money. Things started moving again and were contacted to O.K. the survey on the new property. Then things went quiet. after a lot of back and forward we were eventually contacted on the 11th of July and told the mortgage had been declined. With the delays the sale of our property also fell through. We have contacted both parties about reimbursement of some money they are not willing to reimburse. Has anybody else had any issues with mortgage bureau's or any advice?
