  1. Santander is to close 140 branches, putting 1,270 jobs at risk, the Spanish-owned bank said. The lender said the closures are in response to how customers are choosing to carry out their banking. Santander has consulted unions on the proposed changes and will seek to find alternative roles for the 1,270 staff members affected, wherever possible. The bank expects to be able to redeploy around a third of that number. Susan Allen, Santander’s head of retail and business banking, said: “The way our customers are choosing to bank with us has changed dramatically in recent years, with more and more customers using online and mobile channels. “As a result, we have had to take some very difficult decisions over our less-visited branches, and those where we have other branches in close proximity. 2. I made a cash giro payment on the pre-printed T-Mobile EE payment slip at the bank in Oct, then in Nov I received a letter from T-Mobile stating my account was in areas by 2 weeks and it would be suspended if payment was not made. I got onto the phone and spoke to a 'customer advisor' in India who did not help me at all.. .he kept saying 'we have no payment I can't help you' I asked to speak to a manager, I was told 'all the managers are in a meeting' - so I said thats fine I'll wait, the advisor said 'i'll get a manager to ring you'...i said 'no i'll wait'... eventually a manager picked up and I said 'your customer advisor said you were in a meeting.... '...the manager said 'no i was not i was listening to a call elswhere...' I explained I made payment at the bank in Oct, the manager said the 'missing payments' section deals with this and he has no phone number for them. ..he tried to make out I made a mistake filling in the wrong details on the payment. I said 'how is this even possible when the slip is pre-printed with all the details, so I can't have made a mistake!' I was asked to email a copy of the bank giro to the 'missing payments' section, which I did. The 'missing payments' section sent me an email the next day.. .saying they had sent it across to the bank as part of their investigation and T Mobile would investigate and get back to me by 48hrs. ..I waited a few days and rang T-Mobile again it went through to a call centre in India. ..the advisor kept on saying 'sorry we have no payment, you must go to your bank and investigate it, t-mobile has done everything on its part....etc' I said 'tmobile is responsible for investigating whats happened to my payment I made over 4 weeks ago, its not my job to take time off work to go to my bank in person and ask them, its YOUR job not mine' - The manager just laughed in my face and said 'its YOUR job to go to YOUR bank because YOU made the payment, Tmobile has sent the investigation to tmobile NOW its YOUR job NOT ours...etc' I asked to speak to a manager.. ..he was just as worse so I said I would make an official complaint against him for being outright rude towards me and the phone call was being recorded on their systems. ..I told him to end the call and he then goes 'YOU have to ended the call. ..we cant do that....etc'...so I said 'ok I'll just wait even if it takes 1hr for you to end the call.. .you work in a call centre and your telling me you don't have the option to end the call from your side?!?' - eventually he ended the call I spoke again to a different advisor explained the situtaion she said she was 'shocked' I made payment over 4 weeks ago and tmobile have not investigated or found where the payment is, then she started to blame me for the error I have an email from tmobile saying the investigation would take 48rs, its been more than 2 weeks so far, so tmobile have broken the promise in the email (can i use this to take to the financial ombusman) Ive spent close to 3-4 hours on the phone to tmobile....but they don't help at all on the phone or even by email. I've rang the bank they took some details the bank has confirmation the payment has been made. So I had to take 1/2 a day off work (loss of pay) plus car parking in town to go to the bank arrange to see the manager and get the proof payment has been made, which I now have in my possession. I have emailed this to tmobile and they are not responding back to my emails. I asked tmobile if it would effect my credit - they said no (but i don't believe a word they tell me) The bank said if tmobile had put a note on my file that has effected my credit rating, the bank would give me evidence to say payment has been made, which I could then ask tmobile to remove the not from my credit file. Ive paid off all the outstanding balance on the account and I want tmobile to admit they messed up and say sorry for the hurt distress they have caused me and for me having spent hours on the phone and on email only for nothing in return - no help at all. I'm worried tmobile would put a note on my file which would effect me credit rating for things like credit for good or morgtage in future. I want to take this all the way...they are also not replying to my emails and sending me in circles when I speak on the phone with them, they have failed to 'reply within 48hrs' as stated on the email to me - broken their own policy and guideline.....etc Who do I complain to in person at tmobile at what address and what do I put in the letter? I want compensation for tmobile messing up with processing the payment the bank sent them and for blaming me and the bank, then for me spending hours on the phone and on email, plus loss of wages for taking 1/2 off work and for car parking, then I want them to admit they messed up and to credit my account with the original payment made over 6 weeks ago and a letter of apology, please can the experienced posters on here, please help me and i'm sure my case will help others as well and be a point of reference for others, thanks
  3. Hi I apologise in advance if I do anything wrong. I have never posted or written a post before. On the 13th April 2016 shopping with my children, I used a Natwest Cash machine to withdraw money. I checked the receipt as I was paid a redundancy payment and was due to pay the majority for a deposit on a new property I was in the process of purchasing. I had been very careful not to spend much money as the deposit was due on the Friday. I was horrified when I looked at the receipt, the balance available was almost £6000 lower than it should of been. I immediately returned home and called the bank. I discussed my query with a Customer Service Advisor then onto the Fraud Department, Online Bankng and Complaints. I spent over two hours passed around. The fraud team told me a refund would be in my bank within 5 days, Online Banking Fraud team informed me that they had identified that someone had been trying to log into my account from an unknown device several times over the previous 48 hours and also confirmed that my money would be refunded as it was clear I was a victim of fraud. After speaking the various departments over the phone I still felt really concerned and distressed as I didn't feel confident that my money would be refunded in time to pay the deposit and this would result in losing a house I had my heart set on. The information from all the Natwest Staff was inconsistent and now I realise it was also inaccurate. I decided to go into my local Branch and speak to the Manager as I had been advised that the bank should of refunded the £6000 immediately whilst they investigate. I sat with the Branch Manger and explained my situation, The Branch Manager seemed very understanding spent over an hour ringing various departments, looking at my account and trying to find out why the bank had told me a refund would take 5 days and not an immediate refund. I was so upset and distressed as I had taken redundancy from my previous employer and this was to secure the purchase of my first home for my family and I felt that this was not going to be refunded in time and not one of the advisors seemed to care. The Branch Manager had experienced poor customer service herself from the various departments. Eventually the Branch Manager informed me that I had not been refunded as the transactions were still pending and that these had to clear before a refund could be issued. The manager did inform me that the transactions were to a company abroad and it was evident that I had been a victim of fraud. The Manager offered to put a temporary credit in my account but could not cover the full amount for the deposit. I was given a letter from the Branch Manager sympathising with my situation, confirming that I had been a victim of fraud and CLEARLY stating that £6000 would be refunded into my account in 5 days time. I declined the offer of a temp credit and I advised that I would request an extension for my deposit as I could use the letter to prove that I would have the money in 5 days and that I had been a victim of fraud. I went to the solicitor and provided the letter as proof and an extension was agreed among the parties involved as my Solicitor had confirmed that he had seen an official letter. I waited the 5 days and checked my account and no refund, I left it till the following day and rang the bank to query why the money was not in my bank. I spoke to a rude, arrogant man who abruptly stated 'your not having a refund' I was mortified and just assumed he had made a mistake. He told me the bank had made a decision not to refund, a letter was in the post and that my account was going to be closed. I was so upset and informed him that the Branch Manager had confirmed the refund, the advisors I had spoken to has also told me a refund would be paid in 5 days. The advisors words to me where 'the letter means nothing you may as well put it in the bin' He went on to tell me that a Branch Manager has no authority to make this decision and only the fraud team could make these decisions. I was under the assumption that a Branch Manager was a person of authority and was someone who could deal with issues such as mine. I told him that the letter was an official letter and that my Solicitor had accepted it as evidence for an extension on the sale of my new home. 'put it in the bin' I had worked myself into such a state crying and totally powerless. I couldn't believe it. From there on I have contacted the complaints team, made a formal complaint, a spokesman said wrote an article about my situation and also contacted the bank on my behalf but still no refund. I have complained to the CEO and the Executive Team Manger responded and advised one of his team would be looking into my case. I rang the Exec Manager and discussed my issue. He appeared to be really sympathetic and genuinely sounded as if he knew it was the Banks mistake. I felt optimistic but within a few days I received a final response letter from the exec team identical to the response from the Complaints team and advising that the decision would not be overturned and they agreed with the Complaint Handler. I had sent a response picking out all the mistakes they had made. They had identified transactions made several months prior that appeared to be a similar merchant. The amount was completely different and nowhere near the large amounts that had been made during this fraud. I had been in hospital with Sepsis for 10 weeks throughout Novemeber and all through Christimas and it was not until I returned home I recognised unauthorised transactions on my account. I queried these but did not request a refund as I had concerns that a 17 year old male I had fostered for a year may have been involved. I could not prove this so felt very restricted to confronting him. I also did not want to involve the Police as it might have had nothing to do with him. I explained this to the Complaints Handler and also informed her that I had not asked for the previous 'fraud concerns' to be refunded. I had queried it as fraud but when the transaction details were provided I left it as that. This had no similarities to the transactions made on this occasion the current fraud was £6000 over 24 hour period. The complaint team response clearly states that 'I had been either involved in authorising the transactions or had been careless with my details' They refused to provide any evidence or details of how they made this decision and told me they were not required to as it was part of the NatWest fraud , security AND INVESTIGATION procedures which they did not have to disclose. As explained their decision was clearly due to other transactions on my account, not identical and in the complaint response the information was incorrect. It was evident that this was what the handler had based her assumption on. The letter then stated that the Branch Manager had acted in good faith when writing the letter and this was written based on information I had provided. I almost choked. Are you being serious. If I went into a branch and told the Manager I had just won a million would she write a letter and confirm this information? NO. The Branch Manager is paid to make responsible and accurate decisions and as a senior member of staff are we really supposed to believe they would provide confirmation of a refund simply because a customer says so. The complaint letter provided no evidence to back up this statement but is clearly stating that I am lying and the Managers word is what they accept as true. There was no other information in the complaint response and the points I had made in my complaint had not been addressed such as the FCA principles and the lending standards board guidelines they had failed to adhere to. All Ignored and the excuse they provided for not being able to provide any factual evidence or hard copies of anything related was due to the fraud and security processes they could not breech this and these processes could not be discussed with customers. I feel I have exhausted all avenues with the Bank and the Bank has won. They are just refusing with no proof, not even a reason but I feel powerless. I contacted the FSA who advised that the bank had not followed various principles and guidelines and that I should take this to the Ombudsman. I am aware that the Ombudsman is a length process and from the information I have read on your site and several others the ombudsman seem to side with the Banks and are not required to follow the FSA guidelines. I had considered just going to the Small Claims Court. To be honest it is not as important to me now, I have lost the house I had been in the process of purchasing and as the Branch Managers Letter appeared sincere and I trusted the Banks Branch Manager I went ahead with land searches and now solicitors fees I have paid and all for nothing. I am angry upset and feeling really low at the moment. I have lost money and the house and feel devastated that over half of the money I received as redundancy has just been stolen and there is nothing I can do, Its heart breaking. If anyone has any advice or ideas that they think may help I would be very grateful as at the moment I have given up.
  4. On behalf of friend. Works in retail as shop manager in Wimbledon. V good at job and is considered best manager in area. Area manager want to move him to a struggling branch in new malden. He doesn't want to go. What are his options. Have asked him to send me contract.
  5. Ive recently asked my bank to provide me with the Credit Agreement relating to a loan from a while ago. The document I received back had my signature on it but instead of an authorising signature from the bank it had the name of the branch handwritten instead (in upper case). Is this still considered to be a valid signature?
  6. NatWest Bank has announced that it is to lose up to 361 branch managers as part of a programme of cut-backs. But 116 new - more senior roles - are to be created, leaving a net loss of 245 jobs. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-27911215
  7. Have no idea were this debt has come from it was £70 now Rossendales have it,it is now £361.65, this debt is at least five years old ,(4 years)because we have been out of the country. Plus we no longer live at the address that the debt letters are been sent to, saying we need to get in touch in 7 days or else. Not sure I want this bill to get bigger and bigger, but thought it was a con of some sort in the beginning. But feel like getting in touch now is pointless and will fuel there debt collecting fire:!:
  8. Have had a few default notices from DG solicitors so i sent them a CCA request on 17th july. They responded asking for my signature as attached The 12+2 days for CCA request is now up - should i now respond saying the account is in dispute or send them a digital signature? I was thinking of the following:
  9. Here is my experince with dealing with Swinton's and a copy of my complaint that I have sent to them today. My advice is always check prices online and never deal with a Swinton's branch offices where there main aim is try and get as much money out of the customer as possible. I took out car insurance for my Citroen C3 on 2nd Dec2012. I am now taking delivery of a newChevrolet Spark 1000cc on 01/03/2013 and called my local branch to change thecar details. I asked your representative David to change the policy andwas informed that I couldn't and would have to take out a new policy costing£348.16 an increase of £217.51 on my existing policy despite the fact that theCitroen is insurance group 6 and the Chevrolet is insurance group 3. I checked on line and found that Swintons quote for 12months insurance for the Chevrolet was only £132.17 which is £215.99 less thanDavid had quoted me. I then calledSwinton's quote line to ask if I could amend a policy when buying a new car andwas told that I could for a fee of £25 which is not what David told me. I then called in to the Cannock office and asked why I hadbeen told that I couldn't amend my policy and was told that I could and thecharge was £25, I asked why I was quoted £348.16 and was informed that thecharge was £25 + any extra that the insurance cost for the particular car. I then checked on line to get an up to date quote for theCitroen and Swinton's price was £178.56 which confirms what I already new thatthe Chevrolet wouldn't cost more to cover than the Citroen. My complaint is that I was misinformed by David about beingable to amend my policy and asked to pay £348.16 when I should have had to payonly £25. I phoned David and asked him to cancel the new policy andhave had to now insure with a new provider at a cost of £163.24. Although they were not as cheap as Swinton'squote of £132.17 I would prefer to pay the higher price rather than return to acompany who are happy to mislead their customers in this way.
  10. Hardly surprising given aftermath that recent computer problems have seen by 3 banks. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-19929376
