  1. Hi all, I recently had an episode where a customer services manager definitely sniggered when I asked for compensation for being on hold for over 30 minutes to resolve a very simple issue. I called her on it and complained and today, after four chase-up emails to the person 'dealing' with the complaint, got the following response to my asking if the person replying to me had actually listened to the phone call in question as opposed just taking the manager's word that she had not sniggered (as she had alluded to): I’m afraid we’re unable to listen to the call you had with Rachel, the reason for this is because Rachel is a manager within our call centre. Manager telephone calls are not recorded due to the confidential nature of the calls they take. This is to protect the confidentiality of the staff she manages. Thoughts on this, please? Is this reasoning correct?
  2. Hi, I've only just joined so don't really have any right to dictate how this site should be run, but I can't imagine many children sign up to CAG about injustices of lost pocket money or the tax taken by school bullies at the gate, so I wonder why mild cuss words like **** or *** are blocked out. Who are the moderators scared of offending? I mean, if you're over 18 and you've been ripped off and looking for justice then saying **** or **** might be understandable. What's the CAG fear? Can any site team explain?
  3. When Talktalk were hacked last year, they offered customers a free upgrade as compensation. They were able to add one of the following to their existing services with the group: TV content including movies, kids entertainment and sports; A mobile SIM with a monthly allowance of free texts, data and calls; Unlimited UK landline and mobile calls; A broadband health check by experienced engineers Turns out that far from free, Talktalk have been charging some customers TalkTalk customers should check their bill closely if they accepted a free upgrade, and make sure they are not paying for it. http://www.theguardian.com/money/2016/feb/01/talktalk-hacking-free-sim-offer-apology-charge
  4. It doesn't really matter if you don't pay, the odd few that come to sites like this and see they don't have to pay are few and far between so they still make a pretty packet. Government statistics show nearly 1.17 million electronic requests were made in 2010/11 by private parking companies for vehicle details from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). Figures show drivers are paying more than £93 million in charges, based on a private parking fine of £80, compared to £21 million five years before. The latest DVLA figures were obtained by Nick Smith, the Labour MP for Blaenau Gwent after he received complaints from constituents about a car park in Ebbw Vale, south Wales "I do not believe that British drivers are becoming less law-abiding,” he said. "Some motorists believe that some car park operators are only interested in penalising the motorist at every single opportunity for the most trivial infraction."
