  1. Hi My partner recently noticed corrosion around the centre on both of her front wheels and also on the outer edge on the drivers side. Unfortunately it looks like there is also curb damage on the driver side wheel (image attached). The manufacturer will only replace the nearside wheel even though both have an obvious manufacturing defect. Would she have any recourse against the manufacturer and/or dealership for the replacement of the driver side wheel? The vehicle is under 1 year old.
  2. I took out a policy on my car 2 years back for alloys and light scratches to the body work. Last month I ended up scratching the alloys and scratching the rear bumper. I reported this last week and was advised that they would not entertain the claim for the following reasons 1. The claim for the alloys needs to be reported within 14 days. I missed this by 2-3 days. I simply wasn't aware of this. 2. They claim the rear bumper is two panels where as its one rear bumper with a silver edging going across it. They don't cover two panel claims. its not two panels. A panel is a rear bumper as a whole. I was not advised any of this when I took out the policy. It was imply a we cover it all sales pitch. Do I have any rights here? Bump.... Anyone?
  3. Hi I purchased a used car 4 days ago BMW 325i Convertible M Sport for £10,989.00 from a BMW specialist. On day 2 the tyre warning light came on so i checked and inflated the NSR tyre. On day 4, on the first motorway journey, the NSR tyre deflated and shredded the inner wall. It was a run flat so I made it to the nearest garage for a replacement tyre. The garage pointed out the alloy wheel had been welded at least twice and one of the weld repairs had failed. The new tyre would not hold its full pressure and leaked when it was inflated. I took photo's and a video of the issue. I contacted the garage same day by phone to advise them and by email to back up my conversation. They asked for photo's which I sent. There response was basically- The car was fine before you took it and had a full inspection and MOT. It is reasonable to assume I hit a pot hole which caused the damaged. I pointed out there is no impact damage on the wheel and the tyre has deflated since I took it? They said because you hit a pot hole. They offered to repair the wheel by welding it..... or refund the sale value. I said a repair is unacceptable due to the already compromised structural stability of the wheel and BMW and the Welding Institute advise against it (yes the Welding Institute actually exists!) Now you would think I would jump at the refund? No... The car is spot on except for the wheel. I want to keep it, but want a replacement wheel. I have asked for a second hand wheel (not new) without cracks or welding. I will pay for the new tyre and I will not pursue them for loss of earnings for the afternoon, alternative transport arrangements, new tyre etc. They have said they will repair it only. I am currently reviewing the Consumer Act 2015 but not sure if I can keep the car and request a replacement not a repair? Any advise is gratefully received. PS if I can help out with any alternative dispute resolution queries, please ask via an admin. I am a mediator by trade!
  4. Good morning. I took my car to get a new tyre fitted and after payment i discovered the alloy rims had been damaged quite badly . I addressed the issue with the garage and was told it wasnt them and they pointed out a knick i had on it previously and just resoluted to the wheel was already damaged and refused to take responsibility to the rims being damaged by their machine. Just wondering if anyone has any advice because clearly i am unhappy with the extent of damage they have caused and considering they are a national company im shocked with their unprofessional nature.
  5. Hi All I bought a used car from a garage and as part of the deal arranged to get the alloy wheels refurbished, the guy who sold the car advised the refurb guy was superb, and can do through the garage at trade price. So I did. I paid £140 in total. When I picked up the car, the refurbished job was terrible - they had not taken the wheels off and dirt with embedded grained in the paint work! The garage said that as they rushed to get things sorted on my car they went to another company to do the wheels and I can have my deposit back if I don't want the car. I needed a car (having sold my other one) I reluctantly said I would accept. However four months later the wheels have started peeling and flaking. Do I have any right to a refund? Many thanks MFT
