1. Asked if I could pay an old vets bill in three stages only to be emailed by DCA who had added another £70 but offered to take off £30 for an unposted letter. They addes £40 for the first letter. I did not think they could do this. Am I wrong?
2. Consumer Action Group received the following email from someone who renewed his tax disc online.. Please do be vigilant when using these "Look alike sites" Check that you have typed in the correct webpage and look for any sneaky sign that you will be charged. We have previously highlighted similar issues with Look alike Passport and Driving Licence renewal websites
3. went onto the GOV.UK site to renew tax disc queried this when i was charged £165 and not £125, Was told by DVLA that i had used a tax disc renewal service that charges £40.00 for renewing tax disc. Debit on bankstatement came up as taxdisc.direct.co.uk Any one else had experience of this? Registered this with the DVLA as a complaint and also with citizens advice consumer line.
4. A new scheme promises to cut up to £100 a month off the cost of leasing Want to lease a car for less than the monthly cost of your iPhone? It is possible as long as you don’t mind the latest fitness fad, energy drink or hotel chain splashed across it. Car Quids, which pays drivers up to £200 a month to put advertising on their own cars, is launching a new service for people who want to lease a vehicle. The scheme works much like a normal lease but the advertising income subsidises up to £100 of the monthly cost. Car Quids and leasing company Multileasing will offer cars with adverts on them from next month. The adverts vary from a simple strip on the windscreen to a full wrap that covers the car. The bigger and more prominent the ad, the larger the subsidy. The service is unlikely to appeal to those who need a car for business, but it could provide a cheap option for personal and weekend drivers.
