  1. Hi guys Does anyone know my rights here.I bought my father in law a portable turntable forxmas- the iwoot website says " usb encoding and comes with usb cable" He opened it and the day after asked where the usb cable goes as it doesnt have a usb port. It turns out it doesnt have usb anything! I wrote to iwoot and told them and asked for a return. That was on the 28th December - im STILL getting the same blanket response from them... "were sorry this hasnt met your expectations etc etc well get this sorted for you asap" Ive asked to pass my complaint to a manager, messaged them o
  2. Hi all! First time posting so apologies for any mistakes or customs i dont adhere to. My Samsung S7 worked like a dream up until about two months ago when it started freezing. Now at the time i put it down to a faulty app (Spotify being the only one i had recently installed back then i assumed it was that) i deleted the app done a cache wipe the usual recommended steps. as the weeks went by it started happening more and more frequently until last monday when my phone would not turn on at all it just kept getting stuck on the SAMSUNG logo screen. it would get to t
  3. Hi, I have an outstanding £6000 debt on a Halifax credit account which I've been paying £5 a month towards consistently for the last 5 years via standing order. Just before Christmas I received a letter from Hali stating that Lowell Financial are now the debt owners and that payments they receive from me for this debt will be forwarded to them (Lowell). I then received an introductory letter from Lowell saying pretty much the same and that they will continue to accept my current payment plan, unless I can afford more. They asked me to contact them via post, email or phone. I didn't
  4. For many years I've religiously renewed my breakdown coverage because it's very cheap - £15. During that period I think I've used them only once before, but recently I punctured five miles from home. Ordinarily I would put the spare on myself but, Sod's Law, only that morning had lent someone my repair kit and didn't have it back yet. Rather than walk home, I decided to use breakdown. When I rang, they told me they couldn't find my details and said I hadn't renewed, but I was adamant that I had. They agreed to send someone in good faith providing my details could be clarified (I was also
  5. Hi A few days ago I posted on here about a Company who installed some pipework above my Café ceiling and caused the ceiling to come through due to water damage. I raised an Invoice for loss of earnings and food waste, but the Managing Director has ignored it, as well as an email asking him when payment would be made. I am now a little suspicious of this particular director as I have since found that he has another five limited companies all registered to the same address, plus, a dissolved Company which was also recent. All of the listed companies are registered to the same address, h
  6. I had been with Virgin since it started in our area, around 10- 15 years ago, and always found them reliable and the bb was excellent.. Left them in September 16 owing to the appalling TV that didn't even let you watch FREEVIEW channels. Went to BT, and boy I am disappointed, and want to leave. the bb has been off/on, not able to reach sites and my mobile won't connect to BT Lodged a complaint which is still open after 3 months India kept phoning me 3 times a day to check this & that, and I couldn't understand them half the time. Phoning me in work ho
  7. Hi all, I signed up with BT Broadband, phone and tele however I've since been offered a deal with Virgin that I think is better. My Bt was due to start on Monday however I didn't get the packages that day as I wasn't in. They are still at the post office. However i phoned them today to cancel and they say as I'm out of the 14 day peace of mind period (which is shorter than the time it took for equipment to arrive) I can only cancel if i give them just short of seven hundred quid. To confirm, I have never activated any service and even if i had then it would only be three days
  8. Hi, We recently moved house and new property did not have and working landline. Previous supplier was Virgin Media but that was cancelled by the previous occupier's family. When I looked to transfer from my current home the website said I would have to pay a new connection charge for engineer etc. As BT couldn't provide the service I arranged for Sky to provide phone line and Broadband as part of my existing TV package, BT however want to charge £169.75 early termination of contract fee and a separate charge of £31 for "cessation of broadband." My question is simple, are they en
  9. I switched to OVO Energy around 3 months ago and gave them the reading at the time. I kept forgetting to give a meter reading so they used their own estimates based on a 1 bedroom flat. I recently got a letter to say they want to put my direct debit from £32 a month to £57 a month because I was £1.19 behind. Remember that everything is based entirely on their own estimates, so how have they came to this conclusion? Just to add, I gave them a reading recently which was much lower than their estimates. How can they justify putting my DD from £32 to £57? Anyone else h
  10. Please forgive the length of this post. Very stressed mother of 20, 18 and 14. 18 year old staying on foster child. All in uni, college. Husband primary carer for looked after child. We rented the same house for 13 years, initially through an agent, but the landlord took over himself for the last 3 years. He was a pain and kept increasing rent every 6 months. We should have moved, but, children, work school etc. He issued a section 21 notice at which point we started looking for somewhere to live. I lost £750 in deposit and referencing fees. I have to admit
  11. As a result of my telephone call regarding the local telephone compliance interview yesterday, they want to see my bank statements as I've been claiming Job Seekers Allowance since last year and am really worried. I had a web chat with the CAB earlier but they weren't much help.
  12. I have a few debts with Robbers Way and I want them cleared off. Really fed up to back teeth of dealing with them. A friend of mine will kindly borrow me the money and I would sooner pay her than these vultures. Debts I have is an overdraft which Santander closed back in 2010. I have been on a repayment plan offering them £5 ever since. Paid each month and on time. Current balance around £1,200 A credit card which is about £300.00 again similar arrangement. Now what do I offer them? I am on benefits.....I did offer £100.00 and told me NO before. I
  13. Hi All, I urgently need assistance. Background - I'll try to be as brief as possible.. my husband entered into an IVA agreement over a year ago and listed all his creditors with some being debts from repossessed properties. An arrangement was agreed which he adhered to around March this year he received a letter from PARATUS that we were about to sell our home and they object to the IVA citing the fact that they were not included in the arrangement (which according to them they would have voted against anyway, as they can see there is equity in the property!). Alarm be
  14. Scottish Power Scottish power causeway Wilderspool causeway Warrington WA4 6QD This is not the head office of ScottishPower – but it is the address of a major customer service centre with at least 100 customer service operatives and over 50 other support staff. If you have made your energy contract in England/Wales and you live in England/Wales then you can sue ScottishPower in England/Wales if you have an address for service within the jurisdiction. This address in Warrington will be fine. Don't worry about having to sue out of the jurisdiction in Glasgow or any othe
  15. Dear all A current AST comes to an end on a property on the 17th August. When my agent enquired whether the tenants would like to renew, they told him they were splitting up. On this basis my agent advised issuing a S21 as he was concerned about affordability. The tenants are an unmarried couple with three children. One of the current tenants (male) is now starting treatment for a serious condition and now the partner of the sick tenant has texted me offering me 6 months rent upfront to stay when the AST ends as she says that they are working on getting back together and don't wan
  16. I booked a holiday a few weeks back using Love Holidays. The total cost of the holiday was £680, all i have paid so far is the £80 deposit. It was a silly holiday to book anyway, I can afford to go but I could do with the money on other things so I decided i wanted to cancel it. I emailed them asking to cancel and now they want me to pay for the flight cost, which is £300, the holiday isn't even for over a month away surely this is an acceptable cancellation period! Anything I can do? Thanks
  17. The following is an extract from a press article today. Westminster Council already have a similar system in place. If only other local authorities could follow this example. http://www.camdennewjournal.com/council-tax-exemptions THOUSANDS of people in Camden are set to be made exempt from paying council tax to save the Town Hall cash on chasing for money they do not have. Labour council chiefs are looking at a plan which would see around 11,500 of the borough's poorest residents no longer receive the bill from the Town Hall. The proposal will go out to a public con
  18. My wife CCA'd the RBS regarding her credit card. They have sent back a copy of her application form (below) and a copy of a 7 page Credit Agreement. The copy of the credit agreement is unsigned (in fact there is nowhere on the agreement to sign) so I imagine if thats their best effort, the agreement is unenforcable. What do you think folks.

  20. Hello I received a letter from Restons a couple of weeks ago regarding a debt from Arrow regarding a credit card. I sent the £1 request for details and have now recieved a letter back saying they are ignoring my request as the letter has not been signed Can they do this or do they want to lift my signature to paste it on documents Thanks
  21. :-)Hi Have 2 NatWest credit cards taken out about 1995/1996 - on which I have been making token payments of £2 per month which just jogs along. £1400 outstanding on one card - £2200 on the other card. Token payments commenced about 2 years ago as lost job due to illness and have not worked since. I am 65 and now have heart failure problems - so trying to sort out affairs in case of further problems. I know I should CCA them - but what then. Do they write off debts? My GP can confirm my health position. It's crazy really - we all bailed out NatWest during banking crisi
  22. Hi, I pay £160 a month for 5 SKY boxes, all HD and fully loaded with packages. I consider myself to be a decent customer. 3 months ago we had a period of bad weather and 3 of my boxes lost signal. I suspect it's to do with the connection on the dish as my other boxes get a signal fine. They want £60 engineer fee per box to climb a ladder and re-connect. Granted I can get a local guy to do it but as I pay nearly £2k a year for SKY you would think they'd like to keep me happy. Are there any tactics that I can use to talk them into doing it for free? (or at least at
  23. Hi there. I was involved in an accident that wasn't my fault last night. They reversed their car into their drive and didn't see me as I was driving past and swung out into my car. There was a witness who saw it all. I haven't informed my insurer yet but have already received a text message from the other party's insurer: 'Admiral ref.******* - We are sorry to hear you have been involved in an accident with our insured. We would like to help with any damage caused to save you claiming with your insurers, paying an excess and we will also supply a free replacement vehicle to
  24. Did anyone see this programme last night ? http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b06nzl76/hughs-war-on-waste-episode-1 It was really good and I was shocked to see the unnecessary waste not just by households but by Supermarkets and Fast Food Chains. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall has a blog where he encourages us to help force Supermarkets to reduce the waste. https://wastenotuk.com/ He interviewed a Parsnip farmer and was astonished to see how many of these were rejected because they were "cosmetically challenged" . Apparently the Farmer had a contract with Morrisons
  25. Hi. I will try be short n sweet here. I was claiming JSA through 2015, I was away visiting family for 3 weeks in the summer, with this JSA I was also getting reduction for council tax. When I come back they placed me on the newer Universal Credit. OK not a problem. Now they did not tell me I had to apply for reduction on council tax as separate. So from October till March they are asking for £280, not bad you might say but I am only on £150 a month, as after I have paid £350 rent I have that left. I called them and explained that I thought it was automatically done
