1. Dear everyone, I had the ticket from the UKPC as well at 8pm on Sunday evening ,(infront of the gym company, but they closed on Sunday) I don't know what I can do, I asked the gym owner, they said they didn't have contract with the UKPC, but the landowner does.so he asked me speak to the landowner ,but we can't find the landowner, do I have to write to them or just ignore them? the reason on the letter is : parking without the permit, but that's a industrial estate, and the gym company open for the visitors as well. ..Pleas help! Thank you ! PS:Just worried if they go to the court will affect the visa application..
2. Hello My wife parked in a bay 'reserved for a nearby college' on a large private car park in Birmingham City Centre. She had displayed a valid parking ticket for parking in the car park, (still have the ticket) but just mistakenly parked in a reserved space. She did not notice the signs stating that these bays were for the use of Matthew Boulton College only until she returned to the car to find the parking charge ticket. Only then did she notice the sign high up. Incidentally, the college was closed on this day as it was during Easter Holidays. They have sent photographic evidence, basically my car with Reg Plate. The car park is virtually empty!! Surely the cost of my wife's mistake does not resemble the charge!! I have read various ways of dealing with this. I have ignored all contact but they have now sent a 'Final Reminder' to me (Registered Keeper). Is there anything I need to do? Any advice appreciated. Many Thanks
3. I have previous experience of 'other' organisations who have tried to extract money from unsuspecting drivers who have inadvertently parked in spaces surrounded by their poor signage etc. In this example the events were as follows; Have been a Carer for a disabled person who has legitimate access to a blue badge and can park in disabled parking bays in line with the badge T&C's. However, the registered keeper of the vehicle passed away and I inadvertently parked in a disabled bay but NOT displayed the badge as I was not entitled to use it. However, upon returning to the vehicle I noticed a PCN stuck to the windscreen for not displaying a blue badge. My thoughts are to write to them explaining the RK has passed away and invoke their appeals procedure, enclosing copy of death certificate. Will this be admitting liability and therefore accepting the PCN or should I just invoke the appeals procedure under the 'normal' challange route of signage/ not genuine pre-estimate of loss etc? I would very much appreciate any advice.
4. Had to take my 86-y-o father to local hospital A&E today after home visit from doctor. Parked in a marked bay near to A&E and displayed father's disabled badge on dashboard while i went to find wheelchair and take father (who has both breathing and walking difficulties) in to 'book in'. 5 mins max later I came out to move the car and it had one one of UKPC's 'penalty notice' invoices in disguise on the windscreen. Tried to call the number on the back of the piece of paper, but just got rerouted and then cut off five times until I got someone to answer – a robot I think, as she just said 'I can't do anything you'll have to appeal online no the appeals department don't answer the phone because they're too busy with documentation' in response to every point I attempted to make. Apparently I was parked on private land – at an NHS hospital, which according to the paper attached to my windscreen is apparently private property. I didn't get any sensible response to my enquiry as to who she actually thought owns the NHS, and my suggestion that I would charge them for the time I had to spend going through the appeals procedure was answered with 'If you do that we will have to refer you to our legal team'. Ho hum - will start the appeals procedure tomorrow, plus a stiff letter to the hospital in question, which presumably employs this company.
5. I received a parking charge last week from UKPC for parking on my own allocated parking spot, but the permit was not displayed as it had come off the windscreen . I live in a block of flats and I have been given an allocated parking spot. This is the second this has happened and the first time, UKPC cancelled the ticket. Now there is a different team leader in customer services and I have been told to go to UKPC's appeals website or write to them. I intend to do neither, as I don't want to pass on any details. I was intending to write a letter to the team leader and request cancellation of the ticket, as I was parked in my bay and no loss was incurred to me, the landowner or the service management company. Should I do this, or wait for the Notification to Keeper and the POPLA code? Thanks.
6. I Parked at the rear of Argos whilst I went straight to Argos to pay for the item. It had already been ordered on line. I was gone for no more than 5 or 10 minutes. When I returned to my car, there was a UKPC parking charge on the windscreen. I had parked a few yards away from the collection entrance as there was already a car there, and I didn't want to block any ones way. It was a Sunday and very quiet. There were plenty of other parking spaces available. The ticket on my windscreen states "A Parking charge of £ is outstanding" ....... there is no figure printed there, but if you look VERY closely, the printed amount is on the line below and mingles with further text so cannot be easily seen. I have a receipt from Argos for the item purchased, whose date and time is one minute away from the one on the parking ticket. I went back into Argos to complain, but the girl said it was nothing to do with them as it was not their land. I've also contacted Argos help on line .... and been told to sort it out with the parking company. I've also rung CAB for their advice. I've read some of the threads on here and feel more optimistic. Am I right in thinking that I need to wait for UKPC to write to me before doing anything? I realise that this would mean I might have to pay the £100, rather than the £60 (which is buried in the text) Any help gratefully received. Whatever the outcome though, my view of Argos has plummeted. Also, an elderly gentleman who parked at the same time as myself, got a parking ticket too. they must have been rubbing their hands together that day! The signage did say do not leave your car unattended, but I assumed that Argos owned the land, and being as they tell you to go around the back, that it would be alright to park there to pay for the item. Apologies for the length of this, but I wanted to give all the facts. Thank you P.S. The area I parked in has signs saying "No Unauthorised Parking". It was not a car park you bought a ticket to use. My parking Charge states "Parked in a permit area without displaying a valid permit"
7. Hi i have received a parking charge for parking on private land without displaying a permit.... i left the car for 20 minutes while i went into the flat to look for the permit which the tenants that moved out were meant to have left. ..failing to find it i returned to my car to find i had received a ticket. ..can anyone advise me as what to do next. ..other than paying it . ..thanks
8. Hi, I received a partking charge ticket on my car from UKPC for parking at the front of a friends flat, the ticket states the ticket is issued for "parking in a permit area without displaying a valid permit". it also shows that the issues time of the ticket was 13:54 and that the vehicle was first seen there at 13:47 - i don;t believe this is a reasonable amount of time to wait before issuing the ticket. I was going to write to them to explain that i had just been visiting a resident of the building but having read other threads on here i think i should just ignore this ticket but just wanted to double check, any advice is appreciated.
9. Hi all, First of all many thanks for the forum and work done for others - I've already started to read through the PoFA 2012 and other forum posts in detail (phew!) Anyway, on to my situation, and apologies in advance for so many words. I live in a gated property that is managed by UKPC and I'm a tenant in a property there. I've just received 2 Keeper notices for the car being parked without displaying a valid permit, and on consecutive days (a Saturday and Sunday) in January this year. Each is for £100, total £200. The parking bay itself is allocated to my flat and I do have a valid UKPC permit for the car, but often leave it unattended for long periods, and might not notice either that I've forgotten to place the permit there, or see any drivers notice. I've had a look at the photographs taken by UKPC and can see that a drivers notice was attached to the windscreen. Needless to say neither was there when I next went to the car (indeed the second day's photos shows that the first notice has gone). The same car has been parked in the same bay with the permit displayed, and though while that means the permit has been accepted by UKPC in the past/recently, suspect it would not have any more relevance than that. I'm also still checking the details under section 7 and 8 on the paperwork, I suspect that many of the companies are tightening up their practices. I'll keep on going in this area. At the moment though I can see that no harm has been made against the land owner, the landlord of my property, or the tenant (me!), and no-one else has been deprived of a parking space. UKPC have been placed there by the property management company. So the charges look to be punitive (£200), and I'm going to be down that path as well as linking the permit to the car in a letter back to UKPC. I'm no where near the POPLA stage yet so happy to keep this softer. Funnily enough they don't mention this is in the "discounted phase", yet state that if this goes to POPLA then the parking charge will increase. The only part that appears to show the increase is "late payment", adding £60. I don't think they can do this under PoFA 2012, as a dispute would not be a late payment. The keeper address for the car is still at a different address, and so they are now at the Keeper stage rather than the driver stage of the process. Needless to say I had a shock when two letters were opened! Once again sorry for making this so long winded, and any thoughts well received. Cheers
10. hello, i received a parking fine, reading the information the forum and guidance waited until the notice to keep letter arrived, at this point not sure what the next step is, have heard that others suggest to ignore these letter, honestly would rather not receive any more letters and have them off my back ASAP. most of you might be thinking this is stupid of me but in my defence there was only three motorcycle bays which only fit one bike at a time, two was taken up by car drivers and the other one was in a secluded section. the leisure complex is big and having preivously worked there i know that there have been many bike thefts knowing that information parked right in line of the doors in clear view of carmera and lights, all that being said there was one disabled bay which was away from the front doors which i thoguth no one would mind as there are 10 or more disabled bays alone the front entrance which was unoccupied and I know no one would miss this one bay. have taken photos of another bike who packed in-between disabled bays on the cross section, the photos are not detailed enough as it was dark and the markings have slightly rubbed off. the car park is free to use forget to mention lol fined on 23 Dec 2014 NTK letter dated 22 Jan 2015 and arrived through door 26 Jan 2015 any help appreciate. thank you
11. Hi, i am new here so please bear with me, i received 2 PCN's from UKPC back in April / May of this year at the time i was now aware of i received several letters from UKPC & then i found out that my brother in law who lives in Spain was staying with us & he used my car at the weekend while he was here & he visited a friend twice in a private apartment block where he must have received the tickets but did not give them to me at the time. I ignored UKPC's letters as at first i thought it was a mistake until we researched the dates & my wife asked her brother who admitted getting the tickets but he said it was private land where he was a visitor & that they were not enforceable. The fines are now in the hands of a company called "SCS" Small Claims Solicitors & i have posted their letter in this post, they have given me a duplicate ticket on one of the PCN's adding an extra £160 to the bill, i have not contacted UKPC or SCS up until now but SCS are threatening court action & bailiffs & i need some guidance on what i should do.
12. Hi there, I was wondering if some one can give me some advice on how to tackle the parking charge I park on a car park in the blythe valley business park and was issues a permit to display in my window to avoid a charge. Unfortunately I took a different car the one without the permit and forgot about it. Later that day when i went back to the car i found a ticket asking for £60 to be paid within 28 days or it will go up to £100. Thanks
13. Hi My girlfriend parked in a UKPC car park with free parking but didn't notice you needed a ticket. UKPC have issued a Notice To Keeper for £100. I always used to ignore these but I gather the advice is not to. She has until 22nd October to pay or appeal. Please advise - I've been told multiple things about the uselessness (or not) of the appeals process. Can anyone help, especially given it was free parking for (I think) up to three hours, which makes a £100 'fine' particularly ludicrous. Many thanks
14. hi everyone, I've received some smashing advice here before and would like some more help from you guys if possible! my girlfriend has parked in her pre paid monthly space and her permit has fell off the dash ukpc have gave her a ticket. for some reason the letters have just piled up at her parents house until now. last time i dealt with this promptly by asking for their pre estimate of loss and a popla code etc but now this one is past that stage. It has now been passed to DRP Debt Recovery Plus ltd demanding £160! where do i go from here? i can't use the ukpc website to appeal as it says its been passed on. who do i contact and what do i say? kind regards! Michael
15. Hi, I've read some of the other threads relating to UKPC and wanted some advice. I parked my parents car in a UKPC in Ashton Moss for about 10 minutes while I collected some food from a restaurant around 8.20pm. Upon my return I had a parking charge notice attached to the windscreen stating I parked without displaying a valid permit - effectively claiming I parked in a staff area however there were no visible signs stating it was a staff area - only a broken white line. This was on the 16/08 and I have now received the notice to keeper dated 16/9. One item I noticed on this is that my car colour is listed as Red on the NTK - the original ticket states the colour as Black so they have changed information between them. The NTK also shows a photo of my car with a sign on the restaurant wall in front. The sign was not lit and viewing it on their photos site it states staff parking only. There is however another sign about 10 ft away on a lampost stating to park in marked bays but there are none in this are. The attachments below show a layout of where I parked.. The broken white line runs between 2 bollards and the signs are circled 1 & 2. My car was where the blue x was. Should I appeal on the basis of poor signage - ie no signs advising staff only are as well as GPEOL as its a free car park so a £90 charge is madness, or should I refrain from mentioning the latter till I appeal at POPLA? Many thanks Donal
16. I just thought I would check something here. Some time back I was issued with a parking invoice by UK Parking Controls Ltd. I have ignored it for some time and started getting the usual letters from Debt Recovery Plus. the latest one is offers to let me pay my parking invoice by instalments. Surely they need a credit license to take payment by instalments?
17. Dear all, First of all, I would like to thank you in advance for your help, I am really starting to feel powerless and depressed because of UKPC! I live in a building with a private carpark. I do have my own parking space and I've got a parking permit. 1st parking ticket : January 2014 I got my first parking ticket because I forgot to display my parking permit. I appealed, they obviously rejected it. I wrote a formal letter and joined a copy of my permit but in their rejection letter, they still asked me for a copy of my permit! To me, it only proved that they did not pay attention to my appeal AT ALL so I ignored all their letters. I am now at the stage of the "small claims solicitors" letter. 2nd ticket : february 2014 I once again forgot to display my parking ticket! But this time I did not even bother to appeal! With my previous experience, I did not want to even bother! I considered it a waste of time, energy and money! 3rd ticket : today 27/07/14 Now I am getting really annoyed and angry. They gave me a ticket this morning because "i wasn't parked correctly within the markings of the bay". Now let me explain : I have ALWAYS parked this way because on the left side of my parking space, there is a massive pillar which prevents me to open my door if I am completely within the parking bay. So my questions are the following : Should I appeal to the 3rd ticket, knowing that they will reject it because they want my money? What should I do with the "small claims solicitors" letter for my 1st ticket? Would it be possible to file a complaint against UKPC so these silly tickets stop? I'm at a stage where I just want to move out from this place! I cannot even park in my own parking space without being harassed!! Thank you very much in advance for your help
18. Hi I have received a Parking Charge from UKPC because my car was parked in the Hospital car park without a valid ticket. I have received a final reminder. The charge is £65. What defences or legal reasoning can I use to avoid payment please? Thanks
19. Hello, I have received a final reminder letter from UKPC (offence in May 2014) as I was "not parked correctly within the markings of the bay or space". The letter is addressed to my personal name and a photograph of the parked car. I have not replied to any previous letters. They are requesting an £80 charge. Can you please give me some advice?
20. Hi, I got a parking ticket from UKPC. Charge is £120 or reduced to £60 if I pay within 2 weeks. Do I just ignore the ticket as they are a private company working on behalf of the land owner and cannot legally force me to pay as I never entered into a contract with them? I may be wrong but thought I would ask what the protocol is. Many thanks in advance for any advice.
21. Hi All, I've been reading through some threads here tonight and there is some great help available especially from a few knowledgeable and dedicated members. I have seen a post similar to my problem and I was going to follow that to see how it develops but thought I would start a thread to see what any advice would be. I don't want to give a sob story here but in a nutshell my wife has dealt with the loss of a child and an accident resulting in serious injuries that after ten operations she is only just out of a wheelchair and back walking with difficulty and has started driving again, she is now registered disabled. I only mention this to point out that people have real problems in their lives and don't need the hassle from these vultures, this has caused her some real distress, or it did to begin with until I reassured her after reading to her some of the advice on this site. She came home in tears one night (because of our already tight financial situation) because she parked on a retail park in a disabled bay and for whatever reason didn't display a blue badge, she can be a little absent minded sometimes with all she's been through and now has a parking charge notice for £90 or reduced to £50 etc. I believe the advice is now not to ignore but also that blue badges don't apply on private land etc. so can't be enforced, I have seen the bays markings referred to as graffiti, even so I don't condone able bodied people using this as an excuse to park in a disabled bay. I have not yet been to check the signs on the retail park to see the position and size etc. I am having no contact with the company and am now waiting the 28 days for the first letter. I wondered what your thoughts are while I wait for the letter. Thanks, C.T.
22. Hi All I am hopping that i may be able to get some advice on how to deal with this Charge Notice. I am a driver who at the moment has restricted mobility, and use a walking aid, i am registered disabled with the DWP however i do not have a BB. I parked this morning in a private car park Managed by UKPC, and did park in a disabled persons bay without a badge (due to restricted mobility) when i got out of the car I did see the parking Attendant, and he saw me, he saw me get out of my car with my walking aid and didn`t say anything ( he was booking a car 3 away from mine). I walked into the, and did what i needed to and came out and saw the charge notice. no sign of the issuing attendant or his car. the advice i seek is this. 1) do i have grounds for appeal 2) what are the points to use in the appeal the sign nearby was around 10ft in the air. (photo attached) the ticket received is barely readable (both sides attached) many thanks for your help Lets
23. Hi everyone, my girlfriend has recently received a ticket on her windscreen from UKPC. She parks in a privately owned car park every day for work which she pays for monthly and has a little card with her reg on to display on he dashboard. When she saw the ticked she has realised that her card had blown off the dash onto the floor. All advise will be much appreciated. Kind regards
24. I would be grateful for some advice on this, as I have been reading around UKPC Parking charges and seem to be getting a mixed message as how to proceed. Yesterday I parked in a multi-storey shopping centre, in what I thought was a free space. I paid the ticket in a machine and returned to find a Parking Charge notice stuck to the windscreen. I realised, having read the notice that I was parked in a permit only space. There was a sign which I had not seen, on the wall behind saying that it was a permit space but with a car full of children, I had not noticed. The penalty is £100, reduced to £60 within 14 days. Surely if they don't want to catch you out, they should make these spaces look more clearly different from the rest?? Should I contest, on the grounds of inadequate signage, or completely ignore this? Please help - I do not have a spare £100 or even £60 and paid my parking fee in good faith!
25. hi, hope you can help me. got a ticket for parking outside of a bay in car park. car is a disabled vehicle and as disabled bays were full parked were i could not knowing it was monitered by this company. didnt put my badge on show because i didnt think i needed to. appealed online explaining this and sent copy of badge and tax disc and got letter back saying, the parking charge issued was correct because there are sufficient signs warning drivers that there is no parking outside designated bays. should i appeal to popla and if so what would you suggest i say in this matter. i do hope someone can help me on this as i cant sleep thinking iv got to pay these rogues my hard earnt money. regards.
