  1. Hello everyone my sister foolishly took out a loan with speed credit. She repaid 2 different loans without problems then one day realised on checking her bank balance a large sum had been withdrawn from her account by an unknown company, this is currently under the banks investigation. The bank has given her forms to fill in to claim the money back. She was unable to pay back her loan because of this and explained to speed credit who were fine ,i then took over on the phone and asked for the person to whom i was speaking to please send an email to confirm the agreed amount of repayment,INTREST FROZEN AND £150 EVERY 2 WEEKS STARTING 26/6/12. No email was sent and on the first day of the agreement she paid £150 into speed credits account. Then an email did come through, "YOU HAVE AGREED TO PAY THE FULL AMOUNT OF £600 ON THE 26/6/12...ETC,totally different to what was agreed. Since then numerous emails and letters sent regarding court cases, baliffs and "WE WILL TAKE 9 TIMES THE COST OF OUTSTANDING COSTS IN GOODS FROM YOUR HOUSE" She has since had calls, usually an asian person who on friday was asking about the contents of her house as "we have to make a list of what our collectors will be taking".. Next she has been snowed under with emails, texts saying "because you are currently in debt to a lender please apply to us now! guaranteed xxxx amount and clear pressing debts today!" -so easy to fall for it. Things have taken a sinister turn today, one phonecall fron NDR saying if you don't pay tonight by 6pm "when we send our collectors to your house tuesday you will be paying when you see them" and a further call saying "we have been to court today and will be coming this week to take everything of value from your house to pay this debt" -the person claimed to be from speed credit, both calls were on witheld numbers.. .any advice welcome please, she is terrified and the last thing i need tuesday is having to turn up at my sisters with my people and the trouble it will cause, this is the last thing i want.... .thank you for taking the time to look.. *She has telephoned trading standards last week and they said there was nothing they could do without hearing her out,i hope shes just simply got the wrong person there....
  2. Hello, so I am in a situation with minicredit and am trying to find a solution. A few months ago, I owed minicredit £190, this escalted to £480 and ended with them [taking] the money out from my bank. Now go forward to may 5th, they put £85 into my account and claim I took another loan for £100. I do not remember this, loan was due 5th june and today is 5th july, it has only been 30 days and the loan stands at £603!! and today I get a letter from minicredit telling me if I do not pay by 12th july, it will be passed onto a DCA (it states on their T/C's that it won't be passed onto DCA until 90 days due, so like WTF). I have told minicredit many times so send me a copy of my agreement, they have not. They have served me 2 default notices (Isn't this meant to void the contract? Someone clear this for me)? I have told them that they [took]£288 extra from my bank account, so therefore they still owe me £203 since I already got £85, they refute this and claim it is a new loan. What's my next move? All help appreciated.
  3. Please help!! I've just received a letter from the above saying that I owe them £ from a student loan I took out in 1994 - 97. I have had zero contact with anyone about this since at least 1999, and they say they will not accept monthly payments but want the money within 21 days or they will come round and recover goods! I am in a state. I'm afraid i did foolishly call them as wanted to sort this out, but have been reading that I shouldn't have phoned. Can they do this??

  5. This has been going on for a while and I have read other advice on the CAG forum which gave me strength to fight it.. I thought I had won but now not sure where I stand with Link. I bought some windows in July 2000 and had the cash but was duped (I realise now it was my fault) into signing a credit agreement which I was told I could cancel. I tried to cancel it but was told to carry on making the payments as it was in my interest. I know I was naive but I carried on with the regular monthly payment until I had paid them the £5,500 that the windows cost. I stopped the payments in October 2005. I heard nothing else until I was contacted by Link in July 2008. After seeking advice I found that as I was self employed that I was mis sold the finance as it included Payment Protection Insurance against redundancy. I tried to explain everything to Link but soon realised they were not interested in anything but the debt which stood at about £7,000. After a lot of calls, threats, letter I received a letter from the court in November 2009 and wrote to them with my defence, then received a copy of a letter from the court to Link saying that the claimant had failed to file their allocation questionnare and they had 2 weeks to do so. That was the last I heard, from the court or Link until my birthday in June whehn I received a suprise but familiar Link letter to say they were still pursuing the debt. Again nothing for months until a call last week, I followed the CAG advice and told them that this was harrassment on the telephone and that I would only deal with written correspondence. I just wondered if anyone had any advice on why they never completed the court action and what they can do now?
