  1. In Paris they sell celery by weight. Not by the stick/bunch but by kilo. So what this means is that when people go to their supermarket, they break the ribbon holding the celery together, take out the nice succulent heart of the celery – you know, the bit that we all want and then take that to the till. The supermarket cashier simply weighs it and charges for the amount that has been taken. If you come along later on in the day, then all you have left is the big ugly green bits and the worms. This is how Parisians do it. Don't you wish you had one for a neighbour?
  2. I received an overpayment letter in november 2016 saying hmrc confirmed my income had increased between dec 15 to oct 16. it was originally over £1000 but they had my earnings wrong and i had an underpayment and my overpayment was reduced to £212. how long did it take for you to receive your IUC letter after your overpayment one? i just want this over and done with and i can't afford a solicitor.
  3. Having had windows 10 since inception, I have recently been to the 'store' where being silly I typed in TV. Now here is the very interesting point/part you can now add tiles and apps to get free movies TV shows and much more. The part that is worrying is it legal to install the apps and view the movies and TV shows that have not been released yet? (Goldeneye syndrome)! All of this and much more is available on the Amazon fire stick with various apps that allow you to stream the content and now for free from the store. I wont name them here but they are available on a well kno
  4. My mother has been a housing association tenant for 12 years. Recently, she has had to come and live with me as she is unable to live independently at the moment. Housing Association found out that she was not living at property for a short while and served Notice to Quit which ran out today. I wrote to the HA saying that I have been let down with removals and explained my situation that I work full time and have caring responsibilities and need more time to arrange something. Just had Housing Officer at my door saying that they have taken possession of the property on the date of expi
  5. Greetings Ladies and Gents how often should Landis and Gyr 5235A / Ampy Automation 5235A Electric meter be replaced? The meter is the cheapest no frills anti-reverse digital electric meter they cost around £20 when they were introduced. I read somewhere ??? that it should be replaced every 10 years, however when I spoke to my current energy provider they said 2031 (25 years), that Centrica note above the meter was the provider when the meter was installed. 6. Hi all, After transferring a private number plate off my old car and buying a new one, I waited till my V5C came for my new car. Goes online to try to transfer the private reg but comes up with error message "cannot transfer this number online". So use the online chat to speak to DVLA giving all the details and they say "vehicle does not meet the criteria for transferring number plate" and that this has been passed to the relevant department to see whether or not its possible.... Bizarre, so now having to wait a few weeks to learn the outcome...anybody had this before ?
  7. Found a charge of £15.99 on my phone bill, after looking into it I now know that I have be paying this monthly charge for the last 4 years. This was due to some router thing that uses mobile phone data from its own sim. I had been sold it over the phone but can only think I cancelled it at the end of the call or called back the same day to cancel this as I realised it was of no use. Well I now know the device was never sent as the phone company have told me it was sent and then returned 2 days later and on my account it says cancelled and returned. I kno
  8. Hi, I'm in a regulated tenancy. The rent's just gone up. The council, who pay my rent (I was on ESA in the SG long term, now I'm on GPC), are now complaining they overpaid on the old rent. They are threatening to suspend my HB claim or get the alleged overpayments back, presumably by underpaying the existing rent till they think we're square. They aren't offering any evidence of overpayment, however. My landlords, who have contacted them about this by email and ccd me on it, say the council always have been and are paying the correct rent, and have briefly broken down how the rent is arrive
  9. Hi All, Like many others on this forum, I've been having a lot of trouble with Harlands/CRS/X4L and wish for it to stop. I've been putting off posting here for a while and simply been following the advice given to everyone else by ignoring the threats from CRS and Harlands and replying in writing. I signed up for a 12-month contract on the 3rd November 2015, and after 12 months decided to cancel my direct debit on the 22nd November 2016 after fulfilling my 12-month obligation. Initially I ignored the letters from Harlands demanding payment, however after they threatened to pass my 'd
  10. Hi All, im looking for advice. On Monday 13th March a bailiff came to my door saying he had a warrant to enter and search my home with the intention of removing goods. I asked him why and was told that my son had an outstanding court fine for running a red light last summer some time and that it had not been paid so he was here to collect the debt in full or recover goods to the value of. He said he had a locksmith, removals van and the police on route but if I let him in peacefully and paid the outstanding amount he could cancel the police and locksmiths presence
  11. I be interested to know if people have had dealings with this company and what their experiences are. Thank you
  12. Hi all. Been a good tenant for 10 years now, but have the worst Landlord ever. He has many properties, and trades as a business. We are down to get a new boiler in 2 weeks time, but the old one sprung a leak a couple of weeks ago. It was manageable, and we still had hot water and heating. Unfortunately, the water has got into the electrics and if the boiler is turned on, all the electricity in the house blows. They sent a man out this morning who does all the gas safety checks for them, and without even opening up the boiler, he told us that it is beyond repair, and we will have to try and get
  13. Hi all We have received two PCN's from a Euro Car Park - members of BPA demanding payment of £100 each for both mine and my husband's cars. The date issued is 17/12/2016. I cannot recall the full details of the incident so I am relying on their evidence to advise me - however it looks to be very lacking in detail with simply an images of my number plate twice with text underneath it alleging the time of entry and exit. Now this does not seem sufficient to me but you tell me.... Is there advise on the best route of action to take as this is the first letter from them i want t
  14. Hi I have received a claim form with a stamp and the county court address on there. It says on the back of the letter - Do not ignore this claim form - if you do nothing judgement may be entered against you without further notice. This will make it difficult for you to get credit. Included in the pack are Admission Form N9A Defence and Counterclaim Forrm N9B Acknowledgement of service The top two are options are self explanatory i believe it does state the following under the 'acknowle

  16. Hello, I have recently received a liability notice from the P.C.P enforcement agency. I was advised by my colleagues that I should ignore a parking ticket that I recieved whilst parked on hospital grounds whilst at work. I got a PCN letter sent to my house addressed to me and ignored that too. Subsequently have now recieved a liability notice which has got me a little twitched. Should I continue to ignore this letter or pay it? I did phone the company who states it is too late to appeal and was advised to email a company that when checked on Google has no li
  17. My son in law received a PCN dated the 3rd January 2017 as a result of an alleged infringement that the Council say occurred on the 6th December 2016. A that is either 28 days delay or 29 if you include the contravention day before the issue of the ticket, not the serving of the ticket, is that grounds for challenging the PCN please?
  18. I have received a letter from monument about PBP. It was totally unsolicited, and I have not applied for anything (PPI or the like)or contacted Monument in any way for years. This letter came totally out of the blue and I dismissed it along with all the other letters I have received from them over the years. I ripped it up and put it in the bin. The Short Story My monument account was pulled many years ago , I can't even remember the dates it was so long ago, leaving an unpaid balance of around £3,600 which remained unpaid. The Long Story I have just
  19. I took out a Unsecured Personal Loan with Halifax online in December 2011. I was NEVER asked questions like, can you afford the payments, are you employed/unemployed, and I certainly was not asked about my income. This have got so bad I am currently on an IVA - Halifax increased the IVA from 5 years to 6 years forcing me to pay for longer. I am now wondering if bankruptcy is the best option. Do I have a claim that Halifax lent to me irresponsibly without going through my finances first?
  20. Hello, I currently work for a Government ran business on back shift (4pm-12am) and all of back shift are having to work day shift for a few days between Christmas and New Year. While I feel it is unfair that we have to change our shift, this is not my problem. My problem is, a week ago we had to state what time on day shift we were going in: 7am-3pm, 8am-4pm or 9am-5pm. I chose 7-3, only, today we have found out that the building is closing at 1pm (which it did last year but everyone just worked a half day regardless of time started and got paid a full days pay)
  21. Hi there, long time reader first time writer! Hoping someone can clarify the most up to date advice please? I've received a NTK from Athena ANPR Ltd for a "Civil Parking Charge Notice" for £90!!!! for overstaying in a carpark at a Lidl store. I hadnt noticed any parking restriction signage. The store was due to close shortly after the vehicle was parked and was closed well before the vehicle left. Alleged Infringement date was 24/03/16. Date on the NTK is 31/03/16 Date received was 02/04/16 There is no mention of schedule 4 of The Protections of Freedoms Act
  22. Has the UK got the continuing-violations doctrine in its Laws. I was under probation with a company and I raised H & S issues. A lot of documented bullying occurred. My employment was later terminated and the director cited the contract I signed in which they have the right to terminate my contract without reason. Much later after the expiration of the time limit for the Tribunal I made a Subject Access Request. I discovered that my line manager has been telling lies about me all this time. And these are lies that are easily disputable (Like I was found sle
  23. Hi all, Am renting part of a car park from the Council, they are about to renew the Lease and increase it by 110%, can they do this? I would really appreciate some help on this one. Thanks in anticipation
  24. im baffled and shocked that this claim has just been struck out and can only imagine that the judge (case was heard without a hearing) that they were having a bad day or it was their first day doing the job. just now ive received a judgement of order thats stated my claim has been struck out pursuant to CPR 3.4(2)(a) in that it discloses no reasonable grounds for bringing the claim. in short my claim was becxuase the buyer of an item i was seller lied to ebay and paypal and stated the item was faulty. in short i proved it wasnt faulty and also proved that their defense was ful
