  1. On 28th July I was falsely accused of shoplifting by a very intimidating security guard at Tesco. I was marched into an office at the rear of the store and the duty manager called. I was accused of concealing a mascara under my bag in my trolley. I explained that I had place it there to stop it falling out and that I had had a long emotionally hot draining day at training and was not concentrating. They then found a birthday card and a pack of pens and some spot cream that I had also forgotten about - having paid for the rest of my shopping I offered to pay immediately and explained my lack of focus. I was told that I had already had the opportunity to pay and they had cctv to prove I had concealed the mascara. As the items were less than £10 they said that they would not involve the police. I (stupidly ?) supplied my name and address and was issued a life time ban from all stores in the UK. I received a letter from RLP saying I owe £147.50 for this "act of wrong doing". Having not read this forum at the time I replied by email stating that I would not pay as this was a genuine mistake and that I had offered to pay for the items on 2 occasions. I have now received a 2nd letter saying that I now owe £90 and that if I had paid for the items after being apprehended it would not be a deterrant to me doing this again!! 1. Should I just ignore this after stating my innocence and mistake? 2. Can I be arrested for trespass if I enter any Tesco store and petrol station ( yes I asked them this at the time! was in shock) ? Many thanks in advance - wish I had read this forum before emailing them!
  2. Hello, In 2011 I went on holiday to Egypt. The bill came in at over £4 per MB. I spoke to Tesco and we agreed a different figure than the £400+ that the originally wanted. I also got my pac code as I was out of contract, asking them to send me a revised bill. Which they never did. Since then I've had a couple of different collectors send me letter but they've pretty much always gone away when I asked them to 'prove it' I've now had a letter from Lowell who inform me they have bought the debt and that I should now deal with them. They've told me Tesco Defaulted me and that this would not transfer to them. I've checked my Credit file and it shows that Tesco but four late payments in 2011 and then a default. However it shows this account as settled in Feb 2014 with nothing in-between. They've informed me, time and time again that I need to pay this it'll affect my credit rating, is this correct if the original account is showing as settled, can they just open a new one on my report and default that? Is the best thing to do send them another prove it letter? Any advice is appreciated.
  3. Hi, I've been reading a lot of threads here similar to mine so didn't know if there was any point in me posting but in the end thought it was best to because I don't know what to do. Last month I did a really stupid thing and tried to shoplift groceries from Tesco. It was nearly £200 worth. I was caught, arrested, held in a cell overnight and the next day I was cautioned. I'd never done anything like that before and I'll never do it again, I don't know what I was thinking. I just want to forget about it because I'm ashamed it ever happened but about a week afterwards I got a letter from RLP saying I owe Tesco £197.50. I don't have that kind of money so at the time I was terrified but since then I discovered CAG and after reading up on RLP I've decided to ignore the letter, and any more letters they decide to send. Only thing is, today I got an e-mail from a solicitor company called Buchanan Clark and Wells saying they've been trying to contact me and I need to speak to them urgently. They've given me a reference number to quote but I'm scared of what they're going to say. If I do phone them I'll have to do it outside as I'm 19 and still live at home so I'm trying to hide all this from my Mum and her partner. I know it's completely my own fault but Tesco banned me from the entire retail center the Tesco's store was part of as well, apparently indefinitely, which is really stressing me out as it's practically next door and it's getting harder and harder to make up excuses not to go there... and it's only been a few weeks, let alone however long the ban is for.
  4. Dear all, I am looking for any others that have experienced similar issues with Tesco car insurance, and/or missing communications from them on a wider basis. If anyone has any insight or advice, I would be very glad of that too. I present my nightmarish experience below: Three months ago, I chose Tesco car insurance for renewal due to their good price and well known brand. This was a month ahead of the current policy expiry to ensure a good deal, and to ensure ample time for policy documents to arrive before the new policy began. Approximately one week later, I received the Tesco policy documents by post (with the letter dated the same day that I bought the policy). This was paid for annually in advance, and all was in order aside from a request for a proof of no claims discount (NCD). This was obtained from the current insurer and sent on to them in their own pre-paid addressed envelope, within good time and before the policy commenced. I heard nothing more from Tesco until last Thursday 24th October, when a letter dated 17th October arrived stating that they had cancelled the car insurance policy on the 17th October. This was apparently due to them not receiving proof of the NCD, a fact they had completely failed to tell me. The letter of the 17th October states that one warning letter had been sent 14 days prior to that date, and I have yet to see any sign of it. According to Tesco, they had actually sent between 2 and 4 warning letters (none of which arrived nor has any trace outside of Tesco) between the start of the policy and the final notification of cancellation. I refer to between 2 and 4 letters, as each individual spoken to has stated a different number, about which they are adamant. And yes, that letter of cancellation definitely only mentions one. Now this leaves me with two major issues: 1.) I was unaware that the car was uninsured for seven days after they cancelled the policy. I take this very seriously indeed, as aside from risk of damage/theft I could have been caught unwittingly breaking the law. 2.) I now have to tick the "I have had car insurance cancelled." box in all future insurance forms. And yet I have done absolutely nothing wrong, and I have done everything that I should have done. A quick test on Confused.com suggests an increase in premium of 70%! Tesco has just completed its initial 24 hour investigation, from which they have concluded that x number of letters have definitely be sent out, and that they have no record of receiving the NCD proof from me. This leaves me in an arduous situation, as having used their postage paid envelope for sending the NCD, I have no proof of postage. In addition, I can hardly produce concrete proof that their letters have not arrived (not that they seem interested in this anyway). I also immediately obtained a new proof of NCD from the old insurer by e-mail (a hard copy is following by post), and forwarded this directly to a customer services manager at Tesco. They have accepted this as proof of NCB, but they refuse to reinstate the original policy, nor repeal the cancellation, leaving me firmly stuck with major issue number 2 above. A more formal complaints investigation is now underway, but I clearly need to gather as much advice and support has possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers, Cumulonimbus
  5. Good morning, Is anyone being affected by a Tesco advert "Farm to Fork" appearing as a pop up regularly causing computer screen to flicker but stop when add is opened??
  6. Hi, if I explain the details then i'm hoping that someone could offer advice. Me and hubby shop in my local Tesco every Saturday morning. We go in together then he goes for his magazines while I walk around. After 5 or 10 minutes we find each other and he puts the items he's picked up in the trolley, I push the trolley coz it saves me using my walking stick, i'm registered disabled. Then he goes off for other items and I also shop, we find it's quicker if we separate rather than shop together (iyswim) We then find each other, head to the fruit & veg section and he has the shopping list so he asks if I've got items on the list. If I have forgot something he fetches it while I find a checkout. He meets me and asks if I remembered something else off the list, if I say I forgot that, while I load the conveyor belt he gives me his wallet and any vouchers he has, then fetches the last items we need. At the checkout, because we have lots of the same things, 2 bread, 2 buns, 6 milk etc, I just put one of each item on the belt and tell the checkout person that I have 2 or 3 or 6 of these items, then it either goes in a bag or back in the trolley. We get the total, I pay then give him his wallet back and I push the trolley and he carries the 5 or 6 bags we have. Did this today as normal, but stopped by security passed the checkouts but not passed the cigarette kiosk or the alarms. We were taken to the 'little room', the police were called, arrested us both and charged us both with shoplifting. They were a couple of items I had forgotten about, I realised as soon as he stopped me, but he wouldn't let me pay for them. He said we'd done it the 2 weeks previously but the didn't have enough staff to stop us. Obviously I denied this, I don't remember 'stealing or forgetting about' anything last week or any other time. there are 2 questions - hubby wasn't with me when everything went through the checkout, only at the end. Can he still be charged with shoplifting when he didn't see everything I put in the trolley? Also, I take morphine for pain relief, I have arthritis, fibromyalgia, depression and memory problems. I offered to pay for anything we'd forgot to pay for, but they insisted that the police were called. If they think I've done it before, shouldn't they have stopped us then instead of 'letting us get away with it'? They insisted that we be charged so we are at court in two weeks, which seems really quick. Don't know where we stand or why it's so quick. Any help/advice gratefully accepted, thanks
  7. Tesco has today announced the introduction of a current account. It will cost £5 per month unless you deposit £750 per month. Although it will pay interest on credit balances, this is one not to get involved with unless you can guarantee funds deposits exceeding £750 per month every month or have funds left over at the end of each month. There will also be an 18.9% charge on arranged overdrafts plus fees on top of that for unarranged. So if you went over by £50 and could only afford to repay at £15 per month, you overdraft will continue to increase plus the fees on top.
  8. I am currently pondering whther to submit a claim for mis sold PPI to Tesco for a number of loans I have held with them over about 10 years or so. The PPI was always included in the loan (front loaded), I was never advised of alternative products, never aksed if I had adequate cover in place already and also advised that it would make the success of my application more likely should I opt to take thier PPI. A number of loans were rolled over & I need to do some calculations about the exact amounts (probably after sending SAR), however things got a little complicated last year. I had two loans (Loan 1 & Loan 2) running at the time (bear with me here as I may start to ramble a llittle!), we were struggling financially (although not enough to claim through the PPI even if we had wanted to) & I had asked Tesco for help by reducing payments (Loan 1). Tesco refused & we fell behind on Loan 1. Tesco then issued a defualt notice for both Loan 1& Loan2, quickly followed by issuing of court papers. Now I intended to fight all of the way, tooth & nail as one of their "customer service agents" had told me that they automatically place ALL accounts into default as soon as just one of them is in default?? (Go figure!) As the papers flew through the mail system I received a statement from one of their "representatives" which clearly stated that their automatic system was "foolproof" & " didn't make mistakes", however further in the statement he admitted that a default notice HAD been issued by mistake & that as a result of this admission they would be discontinuing that part of their claim against me (Loan 2) but pursuing Loan 1. I managed to borrow the money from my in laws & paid off Loan 1, my understanding was that Tesco had rendered Loan 2 unenforceable due to unlawful recission by way of admitting they issued a default notice on an account which was not in default. However, after around 6 months I received a statement from Tesco out of the blue which showed the balance of Loan 2 PLUS all of the legal costs from the court action relating to Loan1, this now amounting to something like 14k!! My questions are: 1. Should I be worried about this paperwork they have now started to send through (I have never acknowledged any of it but i wonder if they are trying to get it to the point when they can argue that they did issue a default notice which was in full compliance before pursuing me for it)? 2. If I do submit a claim will Tesco try to pursue me for this Loan 2? Or if they do offer redress can they try to offset it against the amount they claim is owed on Loan 2? 3. Am I opening a really messy can of worms?? As a footnote once all of the amounts have been claculated & had interest included the amount could be fairly substantial... ..but it is money that they are not entitled to keep or use surely?? Any thoughts or advice greatly received.
  9. Hi all, I have a problem with Tesco Opticians regarding a purchase that I made a couple of months ago for prescription sunglasses. As you may be aware, Tesco do not make the lenses for their glasses on site, instead having them sent from an off-site location. When I ordered my BOGOF prescription sunglasses, I specifically and directly said to the assistant that I wanted normal tints in one set, and reactions lenses in the second pair. Having gone through the details and paid for this order, I went away looking forward to receiving my two pairs of sunglasses. However, when I received them I was unhappy to find that one pair had been sent without tints as requested. When I mentioned this, the assistant shoved the paperwork in my face that apparently proved that I did not ask for tints, because I had signed it. However, had I known that I wouldn't be getting what I requested, I told them that I would not have signed anything until I received the goods. At this point I was effectively told it was tough, and I wouldn't be getting a refund. I asked to speak to the manager, and was told she wasn't available and she would call me the same day. No phone call. A week later I received a scruffy letter from the outlet manager, not even on letter headed paper, not even formatted correctly and couldn't even get my name correct, basically saying the same thing and refusing a refund. I then made a complaint to Tesco Optician head office, and once again received no phone call as I requested - a month later, I received another letter, this time from their head office once again saying the same thing - that because I had signed some form this proved that I had agreed to what I was expecting to receive irrespective of what actually arrived. My question is this - under the Sale Of Goods Act, do I have any basis for a refund owing to receiving goods not as I expected when I ordered them? Can distance selling regulations be used given that the sunglasses were being made off-site, even if I ordered them in-store? The lack of any positive action from Tesco Opticians has been extremely frustrating, and I am basically left feeling like it is my fault that I did not get what I wanted. Finally, anyone else wanting to use Tesco Opticians, I would advise them not to do so - if you do, do not sign anything that does not have a legal contract aspect, and do not pay for your goods until you receive them. Thanks for any help you can give! Ste
  10. Hi, Looking for some advice on my situation... On April 25th, I ordered 2 new sofas from Tesco Direct for home delivery. They were delivered on Monday April 28th by Yodel. They were really well packaged, but upon unwrapping the larger of the 2 sofas I found a tiny scuff. I decided this wasn't a problem and continued with unpacking the smaller sofa. We then found that the smaller sofa was very badly damaged (the bottom fabric had been completely torn away from the frame work) so I called Tesco and asked for 2 replacements. Tesco arranged for their courier to exchange the sofas on Friday May 2nd, which my partner was home to take delivery of. After the delivery men had unloaded the replacement sofas and my partner had signed for them, the delivery men then informed him that they could not remove the faulty sofas as this was not on their 'job list' for the day and then left. I telephoned Tesco to explain that I now had 4 sofas and that one of the replacements they had sent was very badly damaged (a broken arm and enormous hole in the seat). We decided we would keep the perfect one and the one with the tiny scuff, but we wanted to send back the one with the broken arm and the one with the ripped bottom. I said that I would like these to be collected the same day, as we had guests over the weekend and no room to store 2 faulty sofas in our tiny two up - two down. Tesco told me they would call me back as soon as they had made the arrangements for the courier to return. Over an hour later, having received no return phone call, I telephoned again and was told that Tesco would be unable to arrange a collection for that day. I asked why nobody had telephoned me back to let me know this decision and was told they "didn't know" I asked to speak to a manger and they told me somebody would contact me in 30 minutes. 45 minutes later and no phone call, I telephoned again asking why nobody had called me back and was told they "didn't know" but somebody would call me back within 30 minutes. 30 minutes later and still no call so I telephoned again and this time was put through to the Duty Manager "Dave M" (I won't give his full name here) This gentleman was very rude to me and told me that I would not be given any money back as compensation and he was not going to follow my complaint through. He told me that a member of his staff would call me again in 20 minutes. I requested that I hold for this duration as I did not believe anybody would call me back but he refused to allow me to do this. 30 minutes later and the agent I had first spoken to, Mike, called me back. By this point it was after 5pm and so, unsurprisingly, nothing could be done now ahead of the bank holiday weekend. I asked Mike if I could telephone a courier myself and arrange to have the items sent back to their original address, but Mike told me I am not allowed to do this, and if I attempt to move their stock without their permission I will be charged for the 2 faulty sofas. I asked if I could dispose of the faulty sofas myself, and was told I would be charged for them if I attempted to do so. I asked if I could store the sofas in my garden, but I was told that I would be charged for the sofas if I attempted to do that. I asked Mike what I could do with the sofas, and he told me I must store them safely for Tesco and see that no further damage comes to them, or I will be charged for them... I told Mike that, in my opinion, I should not be charged double... But in fact I should receive a full refund. Mike refused but told me that he might be able to offer me a gesture of goodwill at around "£10 or £20" but this is not up for discussion until I have "returned Tescos stock to them". I pointed out that I am making very effort to return their stock, but they didn't seem to want to take it and that I don't appreciate the insinuation that I am withholding or attempting to steal their stock! I asked Mike to be straight with me about the situation and tell me when the sofas would be collected, and Mike said "the courier will call you at the end of next week" (one week later) and arrange a collection for the following week. At this point I burst into tears and handed the phone to my partner. I had reached the farthest point of what I could handle. Mike re-iterated to my partner that we are responsible to housing the items safely, until they could be collected in around 2 weeks time and that there would not be any financial reimbursement for our inconvenience, beyond perhaps a £20 voucher. After getting off the phone with Mike, we telephoned the head office and spoke to Adam in the Chief Executives Office who was very kind and said he would follow this up for us... But didn't seem to know a lot about how Tesco Direct operate in these situations, nor could he help speed the process along for us. I'm not sure where to take this next. I wonder, am I able to invoice Tesco for the storage of their items? Can I report them to trading standards? Am I allowed to just dispose the the sofas myself? The thing that is worrying me the most is that everytime I spoke to Tesco, they would 'confirm' my mobile number... and reel off a number that doesn't, and has never belonged to me. Each time I would correct them and they would say 'okay we have updated that' and then each time they would have the wrong number again! I checked the order confirmation email that I was sent on April 25th, and my number was correct on there, also the number I have saved on their website and on my Clubcard is correct... so wherethey are getting this number from, I will never know! If this is the number they have given to the courier, they will never get hold of me! And, why is it my responsibility to organise this with the courier now anyway?? I have a feeling that these sofas will never get collected! Can I dispose of them? My entire weekend was ruined. We have 4 sofas in our tiny living room, which I am terrified of 'damaging' in case they charge me double for 2 sofas which are already damaged! We had to cancel all of our weekend plans and throw away about £50 worth of food that didn't get used because of this. Also, I had to leave work early on Friday which meant I lost even more money. I am so confused why we are being treated this way. We are good customers who use Tesco regularly and spend a lot of money with them. Why am I being treated like a warehouse AND a thief? Any advice would be gratefully received! Thanks for reading my essay. :'-(
  11. The other day myself and 2 colleagues were shopping and as we left the store one of us got stopped and it transpires she had stolen a packet of sweets. She claims she wasn't taken into an office and was dealt with in the shop floor. The police were not called but the store manager said he would inform our employer as he had a duty of care due to the hysterical state she was in. The security guard also allegedly stated that he knew all 3 of us had been taking things. The next day we were all summons to head office as the sore manager had phoned our employer and all 3 of us are now been investigated for gross misconduct as we gave brought the companies name into disrepute. I think this is slanderous and possibly a breech of data protection as myself and another college I did not get caught stealing. They got our names after bulling my colleague who was caught by saying they had an a tip off from another colleague that we were always talking things. Obviously this is not true. Can anyone advise please on why the shop had the right to inform our employer without any proof
  12. Hi all, I'm looking for some advice...went shopping this morning at Tesco and as I got my trolley I put my handbag in there Got some shopping, about £40 worth and was about to make my way to the checkout when I thought I'd look for some makeup as I'm going out this weekend. I decided to get a lipstick and put it in the trolley then made my way back to the checkout when I bumped into someone and stood talking for ten minutes or so Went to the checkout put all my shopping on the belt, paid and left. I'd just got outside when two security guards shouted excuse me have you any items you haven't paid for? To which I said no..he asked for my receipt which I showed him and then asked me to come back in,at this point it dawned on me that I had picked up the lipstick last minute and didn't recall putting it on the belt They marched me through to the back room and asked me to remove my bags from the trolley where the lipstick was under my handbag,at this point I was close to tears and tried to explain it was a genuine mistake and offered to pay right away but they didn't acknowledge what I was saying and asked me to wait there, left the room and comeback 15 min later asking if I had any identity on me,I said my bank card, gave it him and again apologized and offered to pay for the lipstick, again he ignored me. I then said what's going to happen will the police be called? He said no you're lucky the value of goods was under £10 meaning we can issue you with a bang from store fir 12 months and you'll get a fine through the post He gave me a sheet explaining the ban and a sheet from rlp saying my info might be shared with third parties and that I will have to pay for the goods plus a fine...I wasn't asked to sign anything I'm really worried about what will happen next, feel ashamed and also angry that it was a genuine oversight and I never meant to steal anything but wasn't allowed to try and explain myself Please help, will I have to pay a massive fine? Will the police get involved?
  13. Thank goodness for Tesco. But for their constant vigilance, the streets could be swarming with spoon-wielding teenage gangs. A 16-year-old boy was told he was too young to buy a pack of teaspoons by a supermarket in Lancashire. Liam Whelan was sent by his stepmother to their local Tesco in Haslingden to buy replacements for the spoons he keeps losing. But staff refused to sell the 57p pack of teaspoons to Liam, from Deardengate, because he was not 18. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-lancashire-26574789
  14. Just wanted to get a clarification on the law. My next door neighbour called in at Tesco to fill up in the works van [ well known firm & van is sign written] . Filled up & went to pay, he had forgotten his wallet. Informed the lady behind the counter & immediately he said she barked " stand over there". Made him wait while she served everyone in the shop, then told him to produce some ID. He reminded her he had forgotten his wallet , she then produced a book & asked him for his details. Normally he would have signed , but her attitude narked him. He asked if he was legally obliged to sign , she called the manager who informed him if he did`t sign he would call the police. He repeated the question & after a lot of side stepping the manager admitted it was not a legal requirement. He explained that , you have the van reg, the company name, CCTV of my face & i live a 5 minute drive away . The manager then informed my neighbour that if he left the station he would report it as a theft. He left , got his wallet , returned & payed. He does not know if the manager phoned the police , so he wants to be prepared if they do come a calling. The firm have now told the drivers that they can`t fill up at Tesco as a result of his treatment
  15. 16. I have had my fill with Sky so i am transfering my phone and Broadband to Tesco. They are doing free Broadband for 12 months if i take out a phone line. Looking into reviews with Tesco broadband, it seems they have quite a few negative responses and lousy customer service. It seems they used the Thompson router which was always dropping out, These reviews are 12 months old and i cannot seem to get any current reviews.I believe they have now changed the router Has anybody on the forum got phone and broadband through Tesco now and can give me an honest review. Tesco are about to go Fibre optic as well but for the moment i will be on the normal ADSL
  17. Tesco has been forced to suspend more than 2,000 customer accounts after hackers posted their details online. Cyber thieves then used the login details to steal Clubcard vouchers, the supermarket giant admitted. A list of thousands of usernames and passwords was posted by hackers on a text-sharing website . It is thought the data was taken from other websites in high-profile security breaches and used to access Tesco.com customer accounts to steal Clubcard points, with 2,239 hits where the same usernames and passwords were used. But only a "handful" of people are understood to have actually suffered theft of their Clubcard vouchers, as secondary security information was needed to fully access the accounts. Tesco has now deactivated the affected accounts as a precaution and is contacting all customers impacted, pledging to reimburse those who have lost out. http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/tesco-suspends-thousands-customer-accounts-3144560#ixzz2tbtgKU82 Although this only affects a tiny percentage of Tesco's 16 million Clubcard holders, even if you've not been affected, it's worth considering changing your password
  18. Hi Today I got a letter from RLP stating that I had been involved in a wrongful act and my actions caused significant loss to their client Tesco. They are demanding 147.50. What really happened - I bought a lot of electrical items, totalling 110 pounds. The cashier must have not scanned one item without me knowing (honestly!) which was a 12 pound set of headphones. I was stopped at the door as it beeped, I apologised and paid straight away at the customer services desk. The security guard said no further action would be taken, he had to take my details for his records, along with a copy of the receipt for 12 pounds. I phoned them up to tell them this and they said they would investigate and check the cctv and that they had 2 witness statements from tescos which "didn't seem very clear". Which is odd because there was only one person present, the security guard!. Can you advise me how to proceed, I was going to send the following email to them, but after reading this forum I thought I would check with you guys first, do I need to be contacting Tesco directly first or taking other action? ============= This is in follow up to our telephone conversation with you today, 14th February 2013 at 14.08 with your colleague Ellie King as your terms require a written response. The allegations made are false. One item out of a large purchase was not scanned by a Tesco cashier. This was unknown to us until a bag check at the exit to the store. We had already purchased and paid for several other items of the value of £110 in this transaction. The item in question (a £12 headphone) had not scanned properly. On discovery of this we immediately made payment at the customer service till. There was at no point any "significant disruption" to your client. The item also did not scan on the customer service till and 2 attempts had to be made to get the item to register on the till. On both purchases a Tesco clubcard was scanned and the security guard also took a copy receipt for his records so there are several proofs of purchase available to them and no losses to your client were made. The security guard informed us that no further action would be taken and that our name and address were only for him to complete his normal paperwork. At no point did we attempt to take goods, and all goods were paid for in full. Reviewing the CCTV will show us queuing in the upstairs section of the store with all items. You informed us that Tesco had 2 witnesses. This is false. We were stopped by 1 security guard, there were no other Tesco or security staff present at this time, other than the cashier we used to pay for the item who had no knowledge of the incident. Again the CCTV footage will confirm this. We politely request that this claim is cancelled. I believe this can be put down to an honest mistake caused by your clients checkout operator, and as no loss was caused to your client there should be no further action. ==============
  19. Surely this cannot be allowed as they are not filming for security purposes but are in essence selling on your personal data without your permission. I know it is not data as it is generally known but it is still your data. However we have no idea how else that data coudl eb used. Tesco have your card details which gives your address plus your photo? Luckily we do not use Tesco so not really an issue for us. http://www.signal1.co.uk/on-air/breakfast/topics/tesco-advert-face-scanner/
  20. any body know if Tesco do their own pcn's or not. just found the info. aI was at Tesco on official business when I had parked my vehicle on their car park, i noticed that my stay may be over the said time limit of 3hrs, I informed a senior member of staff of this who then proceded to inform the security office of this to cancel any pcn being issued. now ! she asked for my reg no to cancel the charge but explained that the security cameras could or did not register my vehicle on arrival. because instead of going onto the site the way most people do where the cameras monitor I followed the road around the building entering from another direction, but still on the same land. YOU GUESSED IT no cameras on entering at that entrance, thats why they couldnt find my vehicle on the cctv system, sorted.
  21. A father was arrested and accused of fraud after complaining to his local Tesco that he had spent £470 on an iPad that turned out to be just a box with clay lumps inside. Colin Marsh, 47, rushed back to Tesco in Whistable to complain after discovering that the iPad he had bought there as a present for his 10-year old daughter Maddie was actually an empty box stuffed with clay. Instead the staff reported him to the police on suspicion of attempted fraud. Two days later he was arrested and held at the police station for hours before being released on bail. The missing iPad turned up in Wales two months later registered under a different name http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/2013/11/15/tesco-ipad-_n_4279737.html?utm_hp_ref=uk
  22. Hi Caggers I have just had a call of the lovely moorcroft group about my debt with Tesco broadband. I was with tesco for my internet, they gave me a go live date and it didnt happen, apparently there was a issue with their side, even though i told them it needs to be switched from fibre optic tonormal broadband, after about 1 month with no internet they decided to listen and send a engineer out and he sorted the problem. I received my 1st bill which i disputed because i had no internet for that month, in the end they knocked the internet bill off and gave me 10,000 clubcard points as a good will gesture (As this solves unhappy customers). Then as i thought everything was going well, one minute i could get online then the next i couldnt this happened quite frequent, so i was constantly calling them and them problem kept getting fixed without telling me why this was happening. I changed provider in the end as it was becoming a joke, a few months have now passed and today i received a call off Moorcroft demanding the bill and early temination fee paid today, obviously i told the to take a long walk of a high cliff, as i have asked tesco to give me a valid expaination why i was having all these problems and that why should i pay the early termination fee when it was them who broke the terms and conditions by not providing me with the service i requested by being disconnected from the internet from time to time. Moorcroft asked me to contact them again and talk to them, I told them had written to them but no reply appart from moorcroft harrsing me. Sorry for the long post but could someone give me some advice what to do next
  23. Good evening, I hope you can offer some useful advice. Looking at my credit file I have a Visa debt of just over £200 owed to Tesco Finance. It has not defaulted or gone to court, and the account opened in 1999, it is still open, with non-payment against the account. As I didn't recognise it so I asked Tesco to provide me with either a recent statement as the account was open, a new card, or some sort of credit agreement All the credit file shows is that is hasnt been paid, every month since about 2001, yet when I requested more information on the account Tesco wrote to me asking more information as they couldn't find this account nor why it hadn't defaulted etc. They wanted possible scenarios - had i moved, upgraded the card etc. I havent responded. So, essentially, I dont acknowledge it, Tesco do not acknowledge it, they are not chasing it, they do not have me on the system under any postcodes- yet, if a creditor sees this on my file he presumes Im not paying a debt. What to do? Thanks in advance p.s. On a separate note, Is it the norm to start a thread for each new debt I am disputing? I have some other 'oldies' cropping up from years ago that I havent had time to challenge, i now want the calls to stop and credit file clean (note they're not even on my file anymore they're so old)
  24. I was perusing Tesco Direct the other day and ordered a new TV, I ordered (or so I thought) a 47inch LG 3D TV but today I received a 32” LG 3D TV and a completely different model to what I ordered. I went back and had a look at the listing and found it had been removed, I then checked my order history and found the 32” TV is what I had actually ordered and not the 47” the listing stated. I have a habit of printing off order confirmation sheets and web pages so I had a look, sure enough they both say 47” and are for a completely different model to what I received, my conformation email and dispatch email also state 47” Just wondering if anyone else has been in a similar situation, I haven’t contacted them yet as I’m at work but I would quite like to receive what I ordered so are they under any obligations to supply what I ordered? It might be a mistake but it seems pretty sneaky and how it was not spotted before it was dispatched is anyone’s guess. It wasn’t ridiculously cheap either, no £49 iPad job lol it was around £170 less than other retailers so I just thought it was reduced.
  25. The screens, which can tell a customers' age and gender, are being placed into petrol stations across the UK. Tesco is set to install hi-tech screens that scan customers' faces in petrol stations so that advertisements can be better targeted at them. The retailer will introduce the OptimEyes screen, developed by Lord Sugar's Amscreen, to all 450 of its UK petrol stations, in a five-year deal, according to The Grocer magazine. The screen, positioned at the till, scans the faces of customers to determine age and gender, and then runs tailored advertisements. The technology also adjusts adverts depending on the time and date, as well as monitoring customer purchases, The Grocer said. The screens are predicted to reach a weekly audience of more than five million adults. Simon Sugar, chief executive of Amscreen, told the industry magazine: "Yes it's like something out of Minority Report, but this could change the face of British retail and our plans are to expand the screens into as many supermarkets as possible."
