  1. a couple of years ago i struck up a friendship (purely platonic) with a check-out girl at my local supermarket. this year i was told that she had complained about me to her management because i gave her a small present at christmas (i have done this in previous years without any such problem). i was told that she interpretted this as a romantic gesture, though she has never said anything to me about it. i had not had the oportunity to ask her about this when i was told by the police that they had been contacted by the supermarket and that i have been barred from shopping there because of harassment. given that i felt this friendship was mutual and that i was never given any indication by her that she was in any way unhappy with me, i feel i have been treated very unreasonably by this supermarket. accordingly, i have written to the supermarket twice by recorded delivery to complain about their conduct. i have not received any reply. now feel i need to take this to a solicitor in order to get a response from this supermarket. and i really need to do this on a no win no fee basis as i cannot justify any significant expense. i am not looking for any compensation per se. i just want this unreasonable decision reversed. any advice would be gratefully received.
  2. Hi, I was caught shoplifting yesterday in a supermarket a really small item, less than 5£ in value. I left the store and an employee was waiting for me outside. He asked me if I had something in my pocket I did not pay for and I took the item out straight away admitting it. He then took me to a small room were I was patronised by the store manager for a while. My details were taken from my drining license as well. The manager then went away with the guy that stopped me and when came back said that his decission was to ban me for life to enter any branch of the supermarket store and was also banned to enter the shopping center for 6 months. The police was not involved and was informed that an RLP letter was going to be sent to me to pay a quantity as a fine. I have read similar threads and I want to believe that since the police was not called in the fisrt time it is unlikely to be called now, althought this is causing me a great deal of anxiety. What worries me the most is that the manager saw my badge from work and mentioned that they may contact my employer and let them know and that I would be fired. When being about to leave the room the guy that stopped me mentioned that stopping me was no coincidence as they have been monitoring me for a while.... My questions are: Will they decide to call the police after all? If they do, will the police come to my house? Could they contact my employer and inform them of what happened? If they saw me taking other items in the past, why did they not stopped me then and there? Can they use this if the police is finally called? I am really scared and very ashamed of what I did. I see things clear now and what looked like a game before is now my worst nightmare... I have not been able to eat or sleep since this happened... I would take whatever happens to me, fine, court, being fired... whatever, but is the anxiety I cannot manage. Please help! Thanks
  3. We all know that the PPCs are supposed to manage car parking on supermarket etc car parks. Would they also be responsible for ensuring that car parks were gritted to prevent accidents as that would be part of managing the car park to ensure safe parking? If the car park was not gritted and an accident happen, would you be able to claim off the PPC who has a contract from the leaseholder to manage the car park?
  4. I have just been banned from Morrisons for 'shopping suspiciously' in the beers and wines section. I often go to the store, and most of the time I purchase goods. This occasion I didn't as I knew that what I was looking for was cheaper at the Coop around the corner. I was approached by the security guard as I was leaving. He asked me if I was carrying anything I didn't pay for. I protested and said I wasn't, and said he could search me. He said he didn't need to, instead instructing me not to return to the store. Again I protested, but politely asked why this was. He said he didn't like the way I was shopping, and that I was acting 'suspiciously'. I asked if I could appeal this; he seemed surprised, and responded with a long explanation about the process, ie. contacting head office. Clearly he was hoping this would seem to complex and I would just accept the store's verdict. What makes me angry the most, is that they have presumed I was going to steal something - hardly innocent until proven guilty. If I had taken something, I would of course accept I shouldn't be allowed to return. I have never taken anything. I know some of the staff and they would agree that I never would. What also makes me angry is that they now presumably have me on a 'rogue gallery', again criminalising my character. This itself is a breach of my privacy and my ban is a breach of my freedom as a consumer. I don't know what to do, I want to take this further. Does anyone want to advise me on what to do? I was thinking of heading to the Citizens Advice Bureau as a first stop - appealing to their head office seems like a wild goose chase, and obviously would end with them upholding the store's ban.   5. After having used Ocado for a long time, both for personal and business use, I joined their facebook page. I was shocked to find that during the bad weather at the end of last this year, employees were posting such things as "if you expect to have your groceries delivered, then we (the delivery drivers) expect you to clear your path." I and another customer pointed out that there are many reasons why this may not be possible eg old age or disability. I also objected to the tone and content of this post. The wife of one of the other drivers wrote that "disabled customers should stop moaning and use the local shops in bad weather!" Several other employees also said that they "liked" these comments. I made a complaint and was told that they have a social network policy, but that it was not available to the public, that "liking" a comment is not the same as saying it and that the partners of employees can say what they like as they are not employees of the company. Things became more serious at Christmas time. One employee began to harrass me on facebook (presumably because i'd made complaints in public and/or private). Ocado were indifferent to this and it was only after he began to impersonate me to try and humiliate me that he was banned after I contacted facebook about it. Shortly after this, another delivery driver began to insult me and openly use obscene four letter words. I made a further complaint and was ignored, even after sending them a copy/paste of the posts. Several of my posts of no importance were removed by "The Ocado Facebook Team" eg how much I enjoyed the marmalade cake that I had recently purchased from them. After being ignored the first time, I sent them a message asking to be put in contact with the office of the CEO. This resulted in me being banned from the page!!! I managed to find the details myself and was told that "Ocado are under no obligation to respond to communications (from customers) on facebook or via any other avenue" and that "they do not have to give a reason why they ban people from their facebook page". In response to my question as to what action had been taken regarding my most serious complaint about being verbally abused and why the individual was still posting on the page, after I, the customer who had been verbally abused had been banned, I was told that "this was a private personnel issue". Needless to say, all accounts with Ocado in my direct and indirect control have now been closed. I am really disappointed that this company has turned out to be so false. I genuinely believed that this company was totally customer focussed, as, up until interacting with staff on-line and with the CEO office, the only contact I had had was with the delivery drivers at my home who were polite, friendly and helpful. Sadly, it seems that it was all false and, after scratching the surface, I found out what employees and management REALLY think about their customers. I thought i'd share this to help others (disabled or able bodied) decide if they should use this particular company. Thanks for reading this, Richard.
  6. OK I am Scottish but really enjoy buying mark down food. Not only do I save money but I help prevent waste and try things that I wouldn't normally buy.
