  1. Hello Can anyone tell me if Morgan Solicitors, based at West Malling, Kent, are regulated by The Solicitor's Regulation Authority? and, are they required to be regulated by the SRA?. Thanks for any info.
  2. I have recently made a formal complaint to a London Law firm, about their conduct and this has led to a compliant being referred to the Solicitors Regulation Authority. I am concerned though that in 2009, 98% of complaints about solicitors were not referred to the Solicitors Tribunal and in fact it appears that 90% of public complaints were not upheld at all. I have therefore created a blog to publicise how they deal with my complaint in an attempt to establish whether they are or are not fit for purpose. I can't enter a URL link directly as I haven't posted to this forum ten times yet (I don't want to post 9 other spurious messages just so I can!). I hope the moderators of this forum will allow this link as it goes to a page that has much more information than I can post directly here. I would very much welcome comments and feedback here. Have readers of the Consumer Action Forums had any dealings with the Solicitors Regulation Authority and if so, was the outcome satisfactory? The SRA claim that their main objective is to protect the public. Do you think they achieve this goal? Thanks for your support.
  3. hi, I'm really in need of some help. My partner has had a ccj for an old debt taken over by wescot. We have moved house quite a few times recently so I'm assuming that is how we missed the original court papers. Immediately we knew about the judgement we contacted wescot to ask what the bill was for. aparently it was an old catalogue debt but the only one he had was only for a couple of hundred pounds. This is now £1700! Have asked for details of the original bill but they have never replied to our emails. We asked for the order to be varied there is also an enforcement notice pending. The enforcement notice has now been suspended on condition we pay £100/month!!! We offered £40. This is an impossible ammount for us to pay ,what can we do? It has never been agreed he owes the money anyway but court action went through before we could get papers in. It changed court three times before we could do anything!! I work part time and get working and child tax credits my partner is not working we have two depenant children and a 18 year old in training. I don't get how we are classed as poor enough not to have to pay court fees but well off enough to pay £100/month! Any advice would be really apreciated
  4. Made an initial complaint to the SRA. they phoned me and asked for further details and gave me the correct e-mail addy to reply to : [email protected] If you have a valid complaint and can document it, then everyone who can complain should do so without delay. I have told the SRA that they will, in due course be receiving daily complaints about our friends fairly soon. I therefore urge anyone who has a problem with TR, get your complaint off now to the SRA. At very least we need to create enough noise to enable the SRA to suspend TR's right to use the solicitors umbrella OFT licence. Without this they will not lawfully be able to carry out the regulated activity of debt collection. Reading between the lines whilst speaking to them, I get the feeling that they already have a significant number of complaints already. If you want action, then help yourself, get writing now !!!!!!!!!! Everything I come accross of significance Im sending them daily. they'll soon get the message. After reading the Silverpoint posts, I cannnot believe how stupid Alice can be for not smokescreening this activity. Is it stupidity or are they having a game with us all, or do they just not give a f*** ??? The net is closing on you Alice, faster than you may think, our secret weapon is about to be launched - aimed at you fella !!! My advice to you Alice - get yourself an Equity Card - you'll be needing it !!!!
